[00:02:23] hey friends my name is Aaron Ciotti everybody calls me Ciotti welcome to Loop Wednesday I don't know your guys is as good as fine welcome greetings greetings we are going to
[00:02:39] be what happened here what happened here there we go that's a little better we are going to be looking at a whole bunch of drift footage tonight I'm just going to let it
[00:02:49] play as I get caught up on chat that was the first file from the 04 build ah at p tree drift Lounge tonight I'm getting two 2 minutes 20 between 2 minutes 20 and 2 minutes 30
[00:03:08] with this super consistently with 300mah 1S BetaFPV lava batteries I'm running them down to 3.4 volts per cell and they bounce back to 3.75 or so really really really impressive
[00:03:25] runtime I didn't think I would I would get that much runtime out of this build it is on Tiny whoop 0702 36,000 KV Motors and HQ 1.2x 0.9 by3 propellers in the Quest for more and more
[00:03:46] performance and or more efficiency I've been thinking about moving this up to 40,000 KV Motors Weeble was kind enough to send me an a I bought a set of 40,000 and he included
[00:04:02] a set of 32,500 in the Box very very cool of them and so as those arrived I was doing two other Builds an analog build here based around the BetaFPV Matrix AO with the CO3 camera and a now
[00:04:21] motorless hd0 build both with the Batwing Mount both designed to chase RC drift cars I have flown all of these Rigs and you're going to get to see flight footage tonight of all these rigs
[00:04:34] so that you can kind of get to see the the different flight characteristics and the different flight times although the flight times are kind of all over the place which is
[00:04:46] what I'm getting to here on the analog rig with the BetaFPV Matrix AIO I put the 40,000 KV 72s on the HD zero rig I put the 32,500 KV Motors and neither one of these is all that
[00:05:07] efficient and it got me thinking about efficiency I've done tests I did a whole bunch of testing a long time ago with 5-in rigs on 4S and 6s it this was back when I moved from
[00:05:22] four moved from 4S to 6s but I didn't want to buy new Motors and so what I did is I used the motor limiting Fe feature in the pids tab of BetaFlight to artificially pull the 2400 KV Motors
[00:05:37] down to 1600 KV because those are the motors that I put on the actual 6s rig I flew those two rigs on the same batteries at the same places back to back to back to back for months and
[00:05:51] months and months and months and months and I could never tell a difference in flight time flight characteristics throttle resolution anything and
[00:06:03] so to me motor limiting is a totally valid thing to do to pull a higher KV motor down without any real sacrifices that was 2400 KV Motors being pulled down to 1600 KV motors with these tiny
[00:06:22] whoops we're talking about 40,000 KV Motors versus 32,000 or even 28,000 and so I'm super curious if the and this is the perfect chance to test this because I have a brand new set of
[00:06:40] 40,000 a brand new set of 32,500 not brand new I flew four batteries on both of these motors tonight other than that they're brand new oh wait I guess I guess I flew a couple extra batteries on
[00:06:52] the on the last few live streams between them two but for all intense not intensive that doesn't make any sense for all intents and purposes these motors are totally
[00:07:05] identical same props on them other than the KV so what I'm going to do is I've got my little toolkit RC p200 adjustable power supply set up with a BT 2.0 plug I have that set to 4 volts to
[00:07:21] give a constant 4volt output I kind of screwed up and the the build that we're going to test the the efficiency on it currently has the higher KV motors which is kind of annoying it's got
[00:07:35] the 40,000 KV Motors on it right now I wish that this had the 32,500 on it but we're going to make this work these 40,000 KV Motors at the moment are motor limited down
[00:07:48] 80% that brings them to 32,000 KV but we know that the KV numbers on these motors are not necessarily accurate especially between especially from one brand to the next
[00:08:06] that they should be pretty pretty consistent within the same brand which we're doing here but just to add another layer of like kind of data and testing and whatever I'm going to hook this
[00:08:21] thing up to a solid 4volt power source and we're going to go into BetaFlight and we're going to spin all four of these motors up slowly I'm not taking the props off we're going to spin them
[00:08:31] up slowly so that the the thrust that they're making isn't really doing anything and we're going to take a look at the RPM that gets reported back to BetaFlight for these
[00:08:42] 40,000 and then when I swap these 32,000 500s on we're going to do the exact same thing and I'm actually going to rely on you guys to do the Maths for me because I have like a million
[00:08:54] things to do so and then once we have that exact what I'm actually going to do is I'm going to turn the motor limiting down a little bit more on this I'm going to drop this down to 75% motor
[00:09:08] limiting and then you guys can do the the math and when I put the the lower KV Motors on will set the motor limiting at 95% or 93% or 92% whatever the math says right makes sense that way we are
[00:09:26] actually limiting these motors the exact right amount we're not relying on the KV markings on the the motor Bells right we're going to rely on the actual RPMs coming back into BetaFlight to motor
[00:09:40] limit these things perfectly and then I've got a bunch of 260 MH batteries on the charger and I've marked these batteries with individual markers green blue gold red and then
[00:09:55] green red blue red we're going to run like four of these batteries around the basement and we're going to look at the the actual run times and then I'm going to put those batteries back on the
[00:10:08] charger we're going to let them charge all the way back up and then we're going to run them again the the batteries are on the charger right now they've been charging they've just become fully charged and so
[00:10:21] I have to do the flying now to get them back on the charger so that they charge up enough so we're we're going to I'm we're just diving straight into it tonight if if you want to hear your name
[00:10:34] tag me in the chat but I might miss a bunch of chat tonight I'm going to try my best to get caught back up but we're going straight into this so the first thing that I'm going to do this is the
[00:10:43] rig that's kind of being weird shout out to Brandon's baked beans he is on my Discord he's an awesome guy that hangs out in the chat a ton he is a an amazing blackbox ninja tuner all the
[00:10:56] things he's worked with the BetaFlight devs for awesome guy he will tune your rig for you with through with your blackbox logs for a dollar a minute it's a crazy good deal Brandon has
[00:11:09] helped me dial this thing in a little bit to try to figure out why the hell the runtime is is not there the long and short of it is there's something going on on Roll this Matrix AIO it
[00:11:22] might not have the cleanest electrical system so to the context here is I have two analog RC drift car chasing rigs super similar builds but this one is on 40,000 KV Motors limited down
[00:11:38] to 80% this one is actually on 28,500 KV Motors this is a little bit lighter at 100% this is a little bit lighter it's got the runcam Nano 3 they're on the same props here's what's
[00:11:50] insane though this gets five and a half minutes of runtime this is only getting like 3 minutes that's a bit much again this this is what got me thinking about KVs actually having more to do with
[00:12:03] runtime and efficiency than I'd previously thought we're not going to test this thing tonight because it's just like good to go I'm not going to put any stress on the I'm not going to
[00:12:12] unscrew the motors and strip anything out I'm not going to screw around with this this thing is amazing it's going to just stay as it is 40,000 to 32,500 is plenty of a gap
[00:12:26] to test the efficiency and hopefully we'll see something but shout out to Brandon for helping me tune this thing we got it dialed in a little bit better but it's it's
[00:12:35] still nowhere near the efficiency of that that rig is on a HappyModel 2g4 AIO which as I talk about all the time is like kind of the best tiny whoop AIO ever this is on the BetaFPV Matrix I
[00:12:50] don't know if maybe I just got a bad one or if the Matrix just doesn't have enough capacitance to knock out all the electrical noise something super weird that Brandon's
[00:13:01] seeing in the logs is that this has a bunch of noise on the roll axis but not on the pitch axis which is super weird it flies fine but it should just get more efficiency than it's got than
[00:13:14] it's then it's should get more runtime I should say and so we're going to dive in so let me hook this up to BetaFlight and I'm going to bring the motor limiting down a little bit
[00:13:27] extra just so that if if when we do the the testing on the power supply if we see like a huge difference in KV we can get the the motor limiting set perfectly between these two so that
[00:13:44] all makes sense Have I Lost everyone n you guys are smart what's up all right and there's the little dongle that you need for for the BetaFPV AO okay here we go come on come on
[00:14:07] come on BET configurator and all right we're plugged in beta Flat's coming up and we're going to connect and we're going to go to pit tuning so motor output limit we're going
[00:14:21] to come down to 75% again just so that we have enough headro for when we figure this out everything else is going to get left completely the same motor output limiting limits both your throttle and
[00:14:37] the pids this little tool tip here is perfect it's a absolutely perfect description of it the reason why motor output limiting is so powerful is that you can put crazy high crazy high
[00:14:52] KV Motors on a rig and it's going to limit the pids down and your Throttle Down so that you can can have one motor that kind of does it all you can either run multiple different voltages on that
[00:15:04] rig or you can run a bunch of different propellers right like really low pitch propellers where you turn the motor limiting up really high pitch propellers where you turn the motor limiting down
[00:15:14] it's super super super valuable I've been using it on rigs for like four or five years I think and it's just really nice to buy a motor what I always recommend is that you buy a motor
[00:15:27] that's too high of a KV and then motor limit's down a little bit if at some point you need more power you crank it up if you need more efficiency and less power you turn it down if you buy a
[00:15:38] motor that's too low of a KV or just the exactly the exact right KV you can never push it up Beyond 100% so always buy a motor that's a little bit higher KV than you need on these RC drift car chasing
[00:15:51] rigs we don't need 40,000 KV Motors but I've been assuming that the 40,000 aren't killing me on efficiency because I'm motor limiting them down I'm super interested to see what's
[00:16:07] what okay so there's that there's that we're at 75% unplug this we're going to wait to hook this thing up to the to the power supply to spin the motors
[00:16:29] up okay I'm going to need that again all right so we got to Dive Right into flying here I'm going to pull one two three batteries off the charger they were all fully
[00:16:45] charged and I have different color markers on all three of these so that I don't get confused and we're going to run them and we're going to see how long each one of these runs for somebody that's
[00:17:00] willing to type some things into the chat and tag me to help me out say yes I will do it the first person to say yes I will do it your job is to type into the chat in one big message please
[00:17:16] the colors of the battery and the runtime that we get we've got a gold battery we've got a blue battery and we've got a red green battery these are in
[00:17:29] various states of disrepair one of these batteries looks pretty fresh these other two batteries looks like I've put them into quads a million times and so somebody say I will do it somebody
[00:17:44] that's going to be around for the whole live stream say I will do it please and cool let's dive in all right I need to unplug and replug this so we're going to do this is
[00:17:59] flying real quick and then I'm going to start playing a bunch of the flight footage from peach tree drift Lounge so any of you RC drift car drivers that have come here to see the footage you got to wait
[00:18:13] you got to wait like 10 or 15 minutes let's do the battery that looks the most fresh first which is the gold battery so somebody log this for me please gold battery going in I'm using 260s to get
[00:18:26] this done as quick as possible so here we go 75% motor limiting the hell hold on there we go what's this AIO doing why is it flashing what are you
[00:18:50] doing that's weird I pushed down on the top of it all right so I'm gonna this is going to be super boring I'm Gonna Fly this really slow and I'm just gonna very gently
[00:19:04] shoot Gates I'm going to try my best not to like change my elevation all that much and for whatever reason this build it just it's doesn't get very much runtime it's really strange
[00:19:31] and so I'm just going to like limp this thing around this is this is one of these little Chase rigs it's meant to go about this speed and so I'm just going to take like
[00:19:44] sort of random paths here I'm trying not to fly so low that it's in ground effect and I'm also trying not to change elevation all that much I think I only hit the high Gates like one time so
[00:20:00] far and so I'm just going to keep taking random paths here mixing it up also going to try not to hit stuff because when you hit stuff it makes the pit Loop freak
[00:20:13] out I'm going for like Max Max runtime right here the the 2g4 builds that's super similar to the this but on much lower KV Motors like I said earlier I've seen 5 and a
[00:20:36] half minutes chasing the RC drifts cars that's insane why is that drawer open I know why it's opened so again trying to keep this same elevation this should be high enough
[00:20:51] that ground effect has nothing to do with it oh God just caught the edge there there we go low battery bring it in 2 minutes and 15 seconds gold battery 2 minutes and 15
[00:21:12] seconds do me a favor log the the the battery voltage too 3.59 2 minutes 15 bounce back up to 3.6 back down to 359 36 do 36 2 minutes and gold battery 2 minutes 15 seconds 3.6 I'm going to put
[00:21:33] this battery right back on the charger and we will run it again once I've swapped the motors out I I I have Absolut I I just I don't understand why that runtime is so low I
[00:21:48] really don't this is now the blue marker battery blue battery same cut oh you piece of [@$#%] Canon wait wait no no no got to unug this if I'm going to deal with this
[00:22:02] nonsense the entire live stream it was completely fine Monday no problems whatsoever come on come on you jerk there it is all right ready blue battery cjo is in charge thank you dude
[00:22:26] here we go so I went up high just for like a couple Gates on that last battery and then we dropped down low and now I'm going to try to stay at this elevation the entire
[00:22:52] time flying this thing like I fly the cine whoops you see the rig get kicked over here it's this fan there's this fan right here just kind of blows on just
[00:23:15] chilling trying to get Max runtime what's kind of weird is that I was flying this rig on 300 MH batteries on the live stream the other night and I was only get in like 2 and 1/2 minutes
[00:23:29] doing pretty much this I flew this R I chased the the the drift cars around tonight and I I saw 3 minutes on one of the batteries I think may I guess maybe it was like a brand new battery or
[00:23:42] something but that was super super strange I have all of my my data backed up again into two places after the after the stream Monday night I grabbed that entire 12 terab drive and
[00:24:08] copied it to the to the 28 terab drive so those two Drive failures that I have in theory I I officially didn't lose any data but I still low battery come back in
[00:24:23] huray minute and 56 why is so short minute and 5 6 the batter's bouncing back to 361 362 see if it levels out there blue battery minute and 56 3.63 it's not going to go higher
[00:24:43] than 363 there it is 3.63 cool battery goes back on the charger that was the blue battery last one here is the green and red battery green and red same thing real quick and then we'll be done with the
[00:24:59] board to tiers part I'll hook this thing up to the power supply we'll run it through braa flight get that RPM real quick and then we can move on the reason one of the that that core
[00:25:15] temperature warning right there is one of the other reasons that I think that this Matrix AO might be jacked up this is just an analog AIO I forgot to shoot a couple High Gates so couple High Gates
[00:25:26] just like I did on the other one and now we'll drop back down an an analog VTX at sorry an analog AIO at 25 Ms there's absolutely no reason for that to be giving a core temperature
[00:25:47] warning that fast so I think there might be something wrong with this Matrix AO I did Bash this thing pretty good when I was testing it but nothing like the Mobula 6
[00:26:00] 2024 that I just absolutely hammered the balls out of when I was doing that durability testing and it held up so I don't know man look 2g4 yes it's a little
[00:26:16] expensive but build yourself a nice tiny whoop you deserve it 2g4 is going to give you the best video output what's all this video Noise by the like
[00:26:30] there are all kinds of all right we we're we'll look at that in the flight foot I I flew both the the RunCam nano3 2g4 rig tonight not much though I think I only got like a half a battery before
[00:26:41] one of the HQ ultralight propellers exploded and I didn't have any backups no no no don't do that don't do that too low stay up here there it is low battery bring it on
[00:26:56] back and minute and 48 let's see what the battery bounces back to 363 it's probably going to hit 364 there it is maybe 365 nope 3 3.64 a minute and 48 3.64 and this is the green and red
[00:27:20] battery thank you so much cjo cjo can you write that down somewhere because the chat is going to scre scroll so far up that we're going to lose it can you put that in like a notepad or something
[00:27:31] and then cool all three batteries are on the charger next thing we're going to do is get some some quick numbers on the the RPM that this thing is pulling at like I'll do it at like 10%
[00:27:51] nice and slow because I'm not going to pull these propellers off of these motors and then we'll compare that to the 32,500 that I'm going to put on all right so I've
[00:28:05] got this [@$#%] plugged in here I'm going to pull this power supply forward I'm going to plug USBC in now I'm going to take a solid steady 4volt power
[00:28:22] source plug that in actually first farts first let me connect to BetaFlight all right here we go all right so it's got four volts right now and it's not going to Sag
[00:28:44] Motors and I'm going to zoom you guys in and so we're going to go I understand the risks and we're just going to go shift up no shift right okay
[00:28:59] what's happening sh when I hit shift it shuts it off we're going to Arrow up to 1100 that's 10% throttle n it's starting to make thrust already let's do 50 we'll do 1050 5%
[00:29:21] throttle and so we've got 53 to 5400 so I need somebody to average this out so I'm seeing four five and six so 5500 average that with 6 seven and 8 so 5700 I'm
[00:29:48] seeing 78 so 5700 and then it's going all the way up to 6,000 58 59 with so 5900 so I think the average is 57 but somebody average those four out that I just called out please
[00:30:10] why is there is this doing the average for us I think Frank michas just said this might be the average I think this is the average so 56 57 no this is not the average I
[00:30:25] think this is the the low maybe I think this is the average this is the average so perfect that makes our life easy so this is bouncing up and down and I'm seeing 5500 5600 and
[00:30:42] 5700 so the average is 5600 5,600 somebody write that in chat please 5,600 cool and that is without the the the motor limiting the the motor limiting does not apply to
[00:31:01] this all right cjo write that 5600 down for me please wherever you're writing stuff down all right cool so that's everything that we needed from these 40,000 KV Motors I now have to
[00:31:16] swap Motors out and we're going to do that again on the other rig somebody's going to do some math and then we're going to set the motor limiting on these lower KV Motors to
[00:31:30] probably like 95% or 94% or something and then we're going to repeat that test but right now I'm going to start playing through a whole bunch of the the flight footage from tonight
[00:31:42] because that's fun and I'll get caught up on the chat and switch some Motors over and we'll do a little bit of myth bust in here tonight what do you think of
[00:31:56] that I did some I broke out the Maggie needed a somewhat professional head shot for just for school and so I broke out the the off camera lighting gear tonight and did like a super simple
[00:32:15] little two light setup came out pretty decent I I haven't I haven't played around with Lighting in [@$#%] years I was somewhat happy that I remembered how to work the damn
[00:32:29] triggers you can see the two light setup very simply by like as an example this was the The Rim light in the back with no light modifier it's doing this the ambient light is the little bit
[00:32:44] of fill that we've got here and then the key light is doing a lot of the work here up on the front right side in a big old soft box so that was super fun I was like I said I was just thrilled that
[00:32:56] I remembered how to use all the [@$#%] [Laughter] gear it has been so long since I shot Stills so I'm going to let a bunch of this flight footage play from ear earlier tonight it's going to
[00:33:09] be all the DJI 04 stuff and then it's going to roll into analog and then it's going to be hd0 after that and so let's turn some of this [@$#%] off transmitter can go off
[00:33:22] those are all unedited unedited I haven't had a chance to put those into into light room yet but one one of the things I really fell in love with with off camera lighting is that you
[00:33:34] can create so much contrast by controlling the light and by having like three or four separate light sources right the sun is one in this case the the rim light in the back
[00:33:45] left is two and then the the key light in the big soft box front right that's three right so I have three light sources you have to do you you don't have to do much editing you end up
[00:33:57] adding so much three-dimensionality and contrast with the actual lighting that you're adding you got to do barely anything in in Lightroom which is great because I love the process of
[00:34:10] shooting and setting lights up and dialing lights in I don't necessarily love the process of working in Lightroom in the same way that I don't like Premiere I don't really like
[00:34:20] editing I don't enjoy editing okay so let's get screwdriver and pair of tweezers going here and I will start popping these motors off in the chat Cole Powers was first
[00:34:36] Bob Bruce was next Frank Nicholas doubles FPV fizz FPV fizz PV rather lster Matthew Wagner Cole Powers game CAD ducky Bob Bruce Mike K felic lster Mike K that's all I'm going to
[00:34:48] read out because that's the first page you got to get in early if you want to shout out tonight type CiottiFPV into your chat mess Mage and it'll light up an orange and I'll read it if you want me to read
[00:35:00] it cfpv is where you can go to support me this is a completely crowdfunded thing without your support I can't do continue to do this full-time so help a brother out support me a
[00:35:12] little bit if you've gotten some good Knowledge from me or some good footage from me or whatever you can join the patreon for as little as three bucks a month you can change your Amazon link to
[00:35:23] my affiliate link you can change your rdq link to my affiliate link you can change your get FPV link to my affiliate link your bookmarks that is you can buy something cool from my Etsy store
[00:35:36] you can buy a fun t-shirt like this one and join the collective we should start we should start saying the collective again it's fun we've been gangly gang for a while but we should we should
[00:35:48] bring the collective back look at that only a only a true G hand catches the damn thing I'm going to start doing that more it's just too fun with with with tiny
[00:36:02] whoops you can literally just grab the whole damn thing with your hand out of the air changing these motors over is going to be super easy because I paid attention to the Little Red Dot on the
[00:36:12] connectors here HappyModel puts or doesn't put a little red dot on their motor connectors to let which direction that motor is going to spin so if you pay attention to that
[00:36:26] then you can swap Motors and not have to change the direction in BetaFlight it's no big deal but sometimes the not just sometimes quite often the motor Direction wizard doesn't work in betaf
[00:36:39] flight and then you got to go into ESC configurator and it's just silly pay attention to the little red dots and save yourself some time all right so that's
[00:36:52] one motor changed in the chat Bob Bruce says what's going down everyone Le says everybody hi Ciotti PVB Cole power says when I get my hummingbird do I have to flip the whole
[00:37:06] flight controller around to use the hooks for the Batwing yep can I just set the gyro rotation and motor outputs you can do that too the problem's going to be the battery plug in the
[00:37:18] same spot as the hooks is a little bit of a pain in the ass I I got to be honest I don't like it and so you should probably flip it around but it's not too bad
[00:37:31] you'll be all right this motor does have a red dot and this one does not so that means that this one does yep there we go so all that being said having the motor plug in the front
[00:37:48] if you can if you can get the motor plug and everything to not smash into the camera and if you can deal with the frustration of having all that [@$#%] going on up front it will allow you
[00:37:58] to push the the your batteries back farther which is going to offset the nose weight that you're adding from the Batwing and the camera all the way up front so taking it out of the box and
[00:38:11] immediately just putting a Batwing on oh what the problem you're going to have is the camera cables aren't going to be long enough I bet you you won't be able to do it
[00:38:19] because I bet you the camera cables won't reach but from a center of gravity point of view it's actually better to have the battery lead up front and then you can push your battery really far back in the
[00:38:36] in the Newbie drone cockroach V3 frame and then you can have a slightly more centered CG front to rear how much of a difference that makes probably little to nothing but it
[00:38:55] might one of the things that actually okay about having a CG that's a little bit far forward is that the front Motors get totally clean air right like when your nose down and you're cruising
[00:39:10] forward the front motors have an entire vertical wall of air to pull down and send out the bottom the rear motors have a little bit more work to do because the front Motors are creating like a bunch
[00:39:25] of turbulence and they're taking that column of air there right and so having your CG a little bit too far forward the front Motors are actually they have less work to do sort of
[00:39:39] aerodynamically and so it's typically kind of evens out a little bit's always best to have a dead level CG front to rear when you go full throttle and then you jump off the
[00:39:52] throttle really quick if your CG is different front to rear it's going to- whichever the heavy end is is going to carry a little bit more like momentum basically and the
[00:40:06] pit Loop is going to have to even that out and so lot really nailing down your your CG is kind of best case scenario but depending on the like these little guys I almost never go full
[00:40:20] throttle so it's almost doesn't matter at all but it does so so always pay attention to CG it does it does matter the pit Loop can do a lot but think of it this way the worse your CG is the
[00:40:37] harder the pit Loop is going to have to work the more battery it's going to have to drain to every single time that the CG has a sort of a negative effect so the better you can get the CG
[00:40:51] the more efficiency the less work the pit Loop has to do the less motor heat gets created all the things all right lower KV Motors are on what else is happening in chat Co
[00:41:07] power says when I get my oh I got that Uriel says no I'm not going to do this it's too much drunk in two hours I have to go to work lster says rrap Co power says Canon cam slightly to the
[00:41:19] right please that sliver of white on the left will drive me nuts hopefully I've fixed it by now render says that's the same setup I've got right now the 32 32,000 KV better
[00:41:32] for ao5 than 40 but not great cjo says I just get my quad to fly and send it sounds like we're doing nerd stuff CRA also says you're trusting my dyslexic ass with
[00:41:47] maths Cole power says 30,000 32,500 KV equals 8125 to equal that with 4 ,000 KV motor limit of 81.25% today good Lord Co power says Ender makes a good point that you should
[00:42:19] confirm the Max RPM are the same after motor limmit is set and saved so unfortunately you can't do that with these high KV Motors there's a hard limit to 8bit esc's and anything
[00:42:32] above like 28,000 KV I think it is with no prop on you hit the hard limit of the ESC so there's unfortunately no way to run maximum rpm to figure out the actual KV on these motors
[00:42:47] which is why we do it at the the lower at at the lower values like I did a little bit ago we'll see I don't know it's this is all kind of Bro Science but this is this isn't quite as bad as
[00:43:02] Bro Science but this is by no means like a full-blown like myth busting session really the long and short of it is is going to be the batteries that we fly if you really want to dig into it
[00:43:18] like even without the motor limiting if we're just cruising around the room other than the pit Loop ramping the motors up and down the the runtime should be very
[00:43:30] similar and so we're going to get this motor limiting as close as we can and I don't know I'm kind of hoping to see a pretty big difference but I don't
[00:43:48] know all right Motors are on prop in in in and in cool props are good to go batteries are still cranking away Lewis says what are your thoughts on ao5 hd0 builds 65mm 75mm worth the
[00:44:07] extra HD I am I'm pretty frustrated with so I just did a live stream a few days ago about the ao5 you should watch it my my my frustration with it really kind of comes through and I I talk a bunch about the
[00:44:25] previous builds that I've done with with it I can't believe that it exists and I and I'm glad that it exists but it is Gen one it is the very first time that anybody has put an
[00:44:40] HD HD VTX on board an AIO and it and it's like phenomenal but most first gen products have some issues the main issue I think think with the ao5 is it just it's get it gets
[00:45:00] unbelievably hot and it's around three grams you you add about three grams hd0 doesn't really work for freestyle in my opinion I I love that it's low latency but the range is is a real issue
[00:45:21] it's a lot more expensive than analog like if if I want super low lat see I'm just going to fly analog it's a lot less expensive it's like locked in it's been made forever there's a million
[00:45:34] different options hd0 adds like all this complexity and I said I I love that it exists but it's new it's a it's a new thing right like three years ago HD Zer didn't exist I I think
[00:45:50] and so it's great for RAC where the the extra weight doesn't matter versus analog we saw a lot of racers go to hd0 and now we've seen a bunch of them go back to
[00:46:10] analog well like a 5- in racing rig it's I would be running if if I was racing 5 in rigs I would be running hd0 screw the extra money screw the the little bit of extra weight it's it's
[00:46:26] better quality than than analog and racing is done right in front of yourself so the so the range doesn't really matter for freestyle boy the the the the range and the penetration of the HD systems is
[00:46:46] really hard to ignore and being able to see where you're going I the majority of my freestyle rigs are actually still on analog but that's just because I don't really fly them all that
[00:46:58] often hd0 on Tiny whoops is really tough it's really really really tough it's three extra grams which is a big deal it gets incredibly hot and then the other issue that I've been
[00:47:15] hearing from a bunch of people is that they've been through a bunch of them somebody just commented on my video the other day and said that they've had they bought two a5s and they're now on
[00:47:27] their fourth the original two that they bought have both needed to be replaced and then those Replacements either one of The Replacements failed and then that replacement failed again but like
[00:47:40] it's it's gen One tech it gets incredibly hot it's not going to be as durable as a 2g4 that that's a totally unfair comparison to kind of make but it's that's
[00:47:54] important the the ao5 is is a lot more money than a 2g4 and you're going to get less efficiency right cuz it's heavier worse flight performance because it's heavier less runtime right same
[00:48:10] as efficiency the benefit is that you're going to get a little tiny Improvement in image quality the image quality thing though it doesn't end there the the way that
[00:48:24] hd0 breaks up is really nasty in my opinion I really prefer the way that analog breaks up like the way that hd0 breaks up it's just looks it's broken it's looks like there's
[00:48:39] something wrong with with that video you're going to see it in a bit here and even in a little space like this right like I was standing right in front of where where I was flying there was a
[00:48:51] good amount of HD zero breakup I I'm pretty sure it was because of multipathing because there's absolutely no reason that the the 15 foot gap between me and the quad it can't get full
[00:49:06] strength signal to the to the goggles this is an area where there's a there there's multi-pathing Mayhem right there's there's all of the I guess you can't see it because I'm down so low
[00:49:17] but the the ceiling is like unfinished and there's big metal pipes up there big straight flat walls on either side but but I I was really hoping that the
[00:49:29] ao5 cinematic build would be really really good here like basically better than the analog builds but I just I don't think it is you can make up your own mind this footage is going to play
[00:49:43] through but I just I just don't know like I said I love that the ao5 exists and the hd0 team did an unbelievable job with it but I just don't know what it's
[00:50:01] for other than you've spent the five or $600 on the HD zero goggles and you'll be goddamned if you don't use the hd0 technology that's built into these nothing wrong with that I
[00:50:18] didn't pay that much money for these goggles but I did pay a good chunk of money for these goggles I have put the ao5 into like four different builds now desperate to find a build where it
[00:50:33] really performs well and works really well and so I'm right there with you like I want the hd0 setup to work really good it again it is absolutely going to give you a little
[00:50:47] bit more image quality than analog but like you compare it to something like this and it's and it's just like I mean it's tough It's the the competition is unbelievably good hd0 has
[00:51:05] an impossible task ahead of them they have to compete with analog which has been around forever and is like there's so many options it's gotten so good we have these receiver modules that do
[00:51:19] the the frame combining it's just it's insane how good analog is in 2025 and then we've got WalkSnail which is really good and now we've got 04 which is just stupid this is ridiculous this
[00:51:32] is this is 1080 120 frames a second look at this well no I guess I I guess this is now into the 4K footage the first bunch of files there were 1080 120 frames this is 4K 60 like that's ridiculous an 8 G
[00:51:50] camera and VTX shooting in 4k 60 is just stupid that should not exist but it does and hd0 has to compete with it and that's like brutal so it's super tough
[00:52:07] they're they're going up against companies like DJI that has unlimited R&D budget right and analog which has just been around forever so they have an incredibly difficult task
[00:52:21] so I I don't know man I I don't know Lewis I I I don't know what what is like the perfect build for for an ao5 if you've already got the goggles I think the perfect ao5 build is
[00:52:41] whatever build you're going to fly the most if you want to fly inside the house the most then you want to do like the first ao5 build that I did which is like an indoor 65mm freestyle build if if you
[00:52:55] want to fly your front yard a bunch do a 75mm build with it if you want to chase RC drift cars do basically the exact build that I've got here right so whatever flying that you enjoy the most
[00:53:07] that you end or the flying that you want to start doing the most put it in there it works for all of those it works for 1 s75 for 65mm freestyle for 65mm cinematic hell you could even do like a
[00:53:23] 75 mil cinematic build so it but it's doesn't do it doesn't seem to do any of these things I was hoping that with like one of these builds it would be like yes this is perfect this is the perfect use
[00:53:39] of the ai5 and I I've I've not had that experience it's you don't get quite enough runtime with it because it's got this HD system that's pulling really hard on the battery it gets really hot
[00:53:54] which is kind of sketchy and it just it doesn't seem it's all that durable so I would maybe stay away from like a Full Tilt freestyle build with it that you're going to bash
[00:54:06] the [@$#%] out of and go for more of like a kind of cinematic is build but that's on you I flew it in the freestyle setup pretty hard and it didn't blow up on me
[00:54:20] so the it being fragile it could be from it just running really hot all the time it could just be random chance the the durability is durability stuff is really hard to get a feel for
[00:54:37] um so the the previous times that I chased these guys I flew the 04 rig first because I was all excited about it and then I started flying the analog rigs today I flew eight no I flew six analog
[00:54:55] batteries four HD zero batteries and then I started flying the 04 rig and oh my god did I notice the latency the the 04 has a very noticeable amount of latency if you fly a bunch of
[00:55:18] low latency stuff first and then and then the 04 I did get used to it as you can see I was I was able to drop down and stay on these guys doors pretty good but if if you're going to go
[00:55:33] chase RC drift cars and you're doing it for fun rather than for footage analog all day or hd0 but analog all day it is it's way easier the these these cars move around a lot it's
[00:55:53] really hard to chase them you need to do every single face you possibly can for yourself and the the latency is going to have a big effect on that so RC drifts car chasing in analog is way
[00:56:06] easier than than on' 04 but I mean that getting footage like this is is well worth the the sacrifice and you do kind of sort of get used to it but like you don't you don't really get used
[00:56:19] to it because it's always going to be there like somebody changes directions and you have to react to that a 25 or 30 millisecond difference really matters and getting used to it is
[00:56:32] basically just you anticipating what they're going to do and that's all fine and dandy when they hit the perfect line every single time but that's not really what happens right like unless
[00:56:45] you're chasing like the the absolute best drivers in the world and these guys are incredibly good but they're this is hard like what these guys are doing is
[00:56:57] unbelievably difficult and mistakes happen and they bounce off the guardrail and as soon as that kind of [@$#%] happens like you have to react to that and so getting used to latency
[00:57:10] is I I I I hate when people talk about that I hate when people defend digital by saying like oh you just you get used to it and it doesn't matter that is so not true unless you're flying like
[00:57:22] a predetermined path over and over and over and over again where nothing changes and nobody walks out in front of you then latency absolutely matters absolutely so there's that I
[00:57:37] think this is the end of the' 04 flight footage I think we're going to dive into analog here here we go so this is the Matrix the BetaFPV Matrix aiod CO3 camera analog
[00:57:53] build and I think I'm just dialing in the the throttle Expo and now it's good to go so this is through a rapid fire receiver module so it's doing the the frame combining to try to get
[00:58:08] rid of as much of the multipathing as possible CO3 camera is looking really nice but we've still got a bunch of garbage right we've still got the analog flashing and whatnot putting
[00:58:22] a an 80s song over something like this is like the best way to make it more viewable like I've done in the edits in the past and it's kind of cool I I I kind of wish that I'd brought the
[00:58:35] camcorder with me but maybe I'll bring it next week and get some b-roll or maybe I just don't do an edit with this footage we'll see oh I forgot to mention I I I posted
[00:58:50] in in these guys group chat I was like how many people have 86 bodies and a bunch of people replied because there's a there's a song what the hell is this song called there's a
[00:59:05] song where in the beginning they they mention it's a I think it's pulled from Initial D or maybe not but they they mentioned trano at the beginning of the song and trano is is one of the
[00:59:18] body styles of a86 the song is takumi drift I can play like a second of it hold on hold God that ain't it here go this a pretty junky ride you just used for your dad's work but I all right and I'm gonna
[00:59:35] I can only play a couple seconds or I'll get copyright dinged and it's small and kind of cute like you hold on ready and then so ah he says tro and so I'm gonna do an
[00:59:49] edit with with probably with all the' 04 footage of just the the three tranos A8 86s that were here so I'm kind of excited about that and look at this man somebody's got a [@$#%] end a new guy I
[01:00:04] hadn't seen him before he's got a nb1 Miata body which was amazing that's the same that's what I have I mean sort of if I ever get it back which I probably won't but that's pretty
[01:00:17] close to my Miata just with a hard top I sold the hard top with mine though I got $2,000 for that hard top I paid 50 $500 for the car I sold the black hard top for two grand I got a like and that
[01:00:33] the car [@$#%] when I got the car it only had like 70,000 miles on it I basically paid $3,500 and it had like all kinds of Parts on it intake exhaust Tain Flex coilovers this is back in the 2000s
[01:00:47] though when Miatas were still really cheap so here you go here's the Matrix rig I was getting three minutes of runtime chasing these guys around which was super weird I don't
[01:00:59] get that runtime flying this thing around in the basement I I have no idea why but this is what that little Matrix rig does very fun to fly very very very fun to fly nice and
[01:01:13] lightweight super low latency because it's analog just an absolute blast let me keep going on chat here oh [@$#%] YouTube just did the thing and scrolled me to the
[01:01:29] bottom scroll up and find my place real quick here Co power now we got that Frank Nicholas says isn't the average on the far right above the master slider good call Frank I I'd
[01:01:46] never seen that there before CJ cjo says myth busting busting makes me feel good Craig says oh cool all right you guys are putting the the Run times in there Craig says great color tones for
[01:01:59] Maggie I when she when she was wearing green I was like that's going to be our background but it's ended up working out I I just I had to be very careful to Define let's not talk I
[01:02:12] I'll talk for the next 20 minutes about photography Uriel says positive vibe Matthew wigner says I oh my God I have six Ellen crom Studio strobes in my garage that I haven't touched in five
[01:02:25] plus years fiz PV says I got I got out of Stills when getting 35 millimeter film developed got got hard that's a thing that happened Craig says have you heard
[01:02:39] about interaction between DJI goggles 3 and expresss transmitter reported by madtec Ian put out a great video the other day about I think I might have talked about
[01:02:52] it in Monday's live stream really briefly but basically the goggles 3 are putting garbage into the 2.4 gig band and the previous generations of elrs transmitter firmware was not loving it
[01:03:11] they've got an A development build of Express lrs that you can Flash to your transmitters that apparently fixes it already but hopefully DJI fixes it basically the goggles 3 and the DJI
[01:03:29] controller instead of the controller talking to the quad the controller talks to the goggles and then the goggles talk to the quad with both the video link and the transmitter link and so even when
[01:03:42] you're not using the the DGI controller the goggles are still clogging up some 2.4 bandwidth as if the controller's powered on so DJI really needs to fix that like if you're not going to use the
[01:03:52] transmitter it needs to stop taking up that chunk of the band but they won't and so elrs has to fix it but it sounds like they're gonna so game c tagged me but then didn't
[01:04:05] say anything Uriel says Collective is Holy what's that mean Moss one says that let me take my goggles off mid-flight to catch my drone shees let the boy cook lol chick with sticks
[01:04:19] says your hair makes me eggplant I haven't seen you in a while welcome back Cole power says am I insane for think thinking there might be an aerodynamic advantage to a frame that mounts your
[01:04:30] flight controller as a at a positive angle of attack corrected in Flight control orientation more than likely the way that we build this thing is these things is like the least
[01:04:42] aerodynamic but it in terms of like packaging the battery and the motors and the frame and all that [@$#%] it's going to be tough to change any of that but taking the taking
[01:04:54] the AIO and lifting the front of the aiio up and dropping the back down so that the when your nose down the AIO is traveling flat that would certainly help with the arrow of these things Denzel
[01:05:06] turble says shy up if you should be in a shampoo commercial Tokyo Tom is in the house what's up dude he says use your power supply and motor test it to about the hover throttle check RPM and
[01:05:17] how much current it uses then do the same with the lower KV higher KV uses more current for the same RPM hover throttle I I since the since the motor limiting tab
[01:05:35] doesn't is not affected by the is not affected by the motor limiting percent it's hard to do that what I'm saying Co power says download a spectrum analyzer to your phone you could do it
[01:05:55] by by pitch oh that's a really good idea very true too Craig says DJI goggle V3 tldr goggles we just talked about that good good good C Jo says can I go to sleep or do you still need need
[01:06:08] my help if you post the stuff somewhere then somebody else can jump in can you post the the the stuff to General nonsense over on my Discord you probably posted that forever
[01:06:26] ago 1050 nah 20 minutes ago Kevin the aliens in the house I haven't seen you in a while either brother how you been I get that hd0 is in your preference but saying it's a tiny bump in video
[01:06:35] quality is an outright lie I I in my opinion it's not I mean you're going to see it in a minute I'm I've consistently been not at all impressed by the HD zero video
[01:06:48] quality better and worse is always going to be a is always going to be a matter of opinion and so you can argue both sides of that but I don't know I
[01:07:04] mean look there's also only like three maybe four HD zero camera options and the tiny whoop ones they're like the Eco camera it represents Reds in a really weird way and then the Lux camera has
[01:07:21] its own issues analog we've got 80 different camera options right and so it's really really really really tough all right cool we've got the the motor
[01:07:33] limiting or no the battery run times in the in the Discord awesome and then what was the motor limiting number was it 5600 I think somebody typed that in there as well I don't know I
[01:07:50] it's the what is it's 720 right hd0 is 7 720 and then Regular analog video is I think it's 640x480 right so it's basically 480 versus 720 but I I think what lets hd0 down are the cameras
[01:08:10] I just think there's not a great camera yet I think if we get a better hd0 camera it will make a bigger difference cuz like I don't know also there's this is still The Matrix
[01:08:27] rig and there is some video noise here I'm super interested to see the 2g4 rig in a minute but we'll let this play out I held the phone up in front of the camera at the beginning of the
[01:08:38] battery so you'll you'll see the you'll see it it'll be obvious when it's the 2g4 RunCam Nano 3 rig Matthew says have you tried the h hd0 990 FPS camera in a larger rig I
[01:08:58] have not I refuse to buy the hd0 giant VTX because this is really the only scenario that hd0 makes sense to me I'm sure that that 90 FPS cam I've heard such good things about that 90fps
[01:09:14] camera but I mean if I'm going to carry around that much extra weight and complexity and money in a bigger build it's going to be' 04 or WalkSnail or or something the
[01:09:29] the the the lack of range and penetration with hd0 is just super rough and if I'm going to deal with that it's just going to be analog and it's going to be cheap and it's going to be you
[01:09:41] know lighter but that's just me I'm just one person if you've got the money for the for that fancy red 20x20 HD Zero Brick it's hands down better than analog but I just I can't
[01:09:58] justify the extra cost for the the slightly better slightly better image quality and the the here's here's another thing the reason that I say slightly better image quality is not just the raw image
[01:10:19] quality it's how ugly the breakup is the the the hd0 breakup to me is much worse than analog breakup and so even though the image is better the breakup is so much worse that it like kills it and so
[01:10:35] when I lump that all together in my op here you go so here's the here's the Nano 3 rig with the 2g4 when you lump that all together which is the full experience of
[01:10:46] looking at it right through the goggles the I just I I'm the the hd0 actual image quality that you have to fly through which is what matters right being able to see where you're going
[01:11:00] it's just it's not much better but again I'm just one person cjo says did anyone have a Bentley T1 drift car they did not Craig says Jesus posted to live stream live
[01:11:16] yep we're good to go and the motor limiting average was 5600 perfect it's all there thank you cjo for hanging brother fiz PV says I get that kind of noise in the back shop at work I
[01:11:28] could drop a video in the Discord so here is the 2g4 now there's I guess there's still some some video noise what do you guys think the The Matrix rig versus The 2g4 RunCam nano3 rig the
[01:11:43] we've done camera testing in the past and everybody loved the CO3 camera I really like this runam Nano 3 camera so this is where one of the ultr light props expl exped so that that's
[01:11:56] all we've got from the runam Nano 3 2g4 rig what do you guys think in terms of analog video quality I kind of think it doesn't matter I don't think there's enough of a difference between this and
[01:12:08] the last few files that played for it to really matter that's kind of been my my whole deal with the runcam Nano 3 for the whole time here is is that like there are cameras that look better
[01:12:22] but it then goes through analog and it looks like hell anyway the runam Nano 3 is the lightest weight FPV camera we've ever had it works in the best canopy that we've ever
[01:12:31] had and so it's my go-to all right cool so there's going to be all right so we're going to go right to the next file so now we're into hd0 yes right now with no breakup whatsoever this absolutely
[01:12:50] looks better but as soon as I get out there and these blocks start showing up it just I it I just think it's awful th those blocks just it looks broken it just looks broken but
[01:13:06] absolutely absolutely this image quality is significantly better than analog for sure but it this is me standing 5et away as soon as you start to fly this thing outside behind trees bounce the
[01:13:20] signal off walls and stuff these blocks they for me they make it really hard to fly but again that's me I'm really surprised how much breakup there is I I really wish that there
[01:13:36] wasn't this much breakup at some point I unscrewed two of the two of the four antennas old school tiny whoop style in hopes that like two of the the two the two smas with no antennas
[01:13:54] would only get the strongest signal it didn't seem to make any difference whatsoever but watching this B in in the goggles I I didn't think there was as much of a as much of a difference
[01:14:09] looking at this now this is pretty good if I can get the runtime where I want it on this ao5 rig see the problem is these like the blocks look terrible like with with the analog
[01:14:30] flight footage I can put an an 80s song to it and it has that like old school Vibe what vibe does this have with these with these squares all over the place like how is this how
[01:14:46] like what I'm saying I guess it just is what it is but then if I'm going to do an edit where I'm where I'm focusing on the better image quality it's going to be
[01:14:59] with the 04 setup and it's going to look gorgeous right again hd0 is stuck in this middle no man's land of like yes it's low latency and that's great but then the video quality is is not great
[01:15:15] because of these stupid squares all over the screen as it breaks up right I I I just I want I spent $300 and something dollars on this goggle setup I want this to be
[01:15:37] amazing Craig says someone needs to find a DJI 04 processing filter which finds and fixes the stupid squares dve says it has that lowquality fuzz to it also 720p it is
[01:15:52] 720p so regular analog is 640x 480 the 480 in 640x 480 is the is the vertical and that's like and so this is 720 that's the vertical right so significantly more pixels than
[01:16:12] analog which is where we get the extra crispness right but again just the way that it breaks up I I just it just looks insane I was really hoping that it would be crystal clear and there would be no
[01:16:29] breakup because I'm standing right there maybe I'll play around with patch antennas next time I will look the the latency was so low on this hd0 system and it was so enjoyable to chase
[01:16:46] these guys with that super low latency that like I will absolutely put a bunch more time and effort into this ai5 to get this to clean up a little bit and if if I can if I can get this to clean
[01:16:59] up some I'll do a full-blown hd0 edit because I can fly better with this the the crazy low latency allows me to fly like look at that that that tracking shot right there like that's hard to do
[01:17:14] with the 04 because I'm making all these little tiny adjustments and so I will gladly do an HD zero edit but boy the the breakup it's just looks nuts to me and look I know I'm asking too
[01:17:30] much I'm asking way too much of this system it is a receive only system there is going to be garbage there is going there is going to be breakup but like the other options that I have
[01:17:44] you know I've got this analog option which has a really cool old school vibe to it and the nice low latency and then I've got the digital options which look absolutely gorgeous
[01:17:57] right I would rather use one of those Moss one says the 2g4 has a bit more noise is it an older AO it's is an older AO but that shouldn't have anything to do with
[01:18:13] it cjo says actually I got one thing to say you can buy a five watt analog VTX with a camera for less than the hd0 freestyle spontaneous Sports says I like the 2g4 video better
[01:18:28] that's pretty cool what else do we have Capital C says it looks good I've heard that some people have gotten rid of the breakup with an AI with an AI video upscaler but that's a bit of extra
[01:18:44] work I forgot about that there was that like two-month period where everybody was all hot on the the AI video UPS scalers I I didn't dive into them Tokyo dime says compare hd0 720 to
[01:18:58] walks snail or DJI 720 it's not the resolution it's as if it's 540p upscaled that's a that's a really good way of putting it dude that's a really really really good way of putting it
[01:19:12] WalkSnail is is 720 as well and it looks so much better than this that's a that's a that's a really good Point man the the the the HD zero video quality it really does it
[01:19:29] doesn't look like 720 720 can look really good this absolutely looks more like 540 540 being in but so analog is basically 480p and then so 540 is right in between 720p and 480 what I mean
[01:19:49] totally what this looks like and for for a while I thought like oh this just needs contrast pushed into it it's just it doesn't look good because it just needs contrast but
[01:20:01] like look look over here these blacks are black these whites I mean this is kind of unfair because it's the direct light source but like the the whites are white I I am going to do an hd0 edit for sure
[01:20:19] and I don't know what I'm going to be able to do I don't know if pushing contrast in is going to help this it's just it's just kind of foggy I I think it's the cameras I I think the the HD
[01:20:33] zero cameras are just not they're gen one they're gen one cameras and so they're not like refined enough yet I hope that moving forward we'll get some better camera options for for hd0
[01:20:47] because there's just there's just this weird it's almost like there's a lack of contrast in the so the the the histogram is the the thing that we use in
[01:21:03] photography to look at where all the different brightness values sit and all the way over here is all the darkest values all the way over here are all the brightest values and then everything in
[01:21:14] between and what the HD zero cameras look like is that in the middle of the histogram it looks like we need a bunch more contrast just in the middle we have the darkest darks we have the brightest
[01:21:26] brights like when you turn the contrast slider up it takes everything and it and it pushes everything out and so the the brightest the darkest darks are going to clip and the high the brightest brights
[01:21:37] are going to clip in Photoshop we have highlights well in in Premiere as well we have highlights and shadows and they just grab those shadows and pull them up and they grab the highlights and
[01:21:50] pull them down and so that is the the editing that I'll be doing to the HD Zer footage in Premiere is I'll be cranking the [@$#%] out of the contrast to try to take this Middle where it's all foggy
[01:22:02] all these Grays they're all foggy I'm going to try to pull that middle and then that's going to push these and then I'm going to try to pull these back and we'll we'll see I'm super
[01:22:15] interested what that will do because like I I feel like there's potential here if I can if I can figure out how to get less random squares all over the place
[01:22:32] like like look look how good look how good this looks ready when I point this towards the the mural like there's some real there's some really nice detail in here right like look at
[01:22:47] that there's there's potential for this it just it's needs some it needs some extra L where am I at in chat Matthew Wagner says I fly hd0 and the thing I like
[01:23:07] about its breakup is that it punches local Holes without any Global image glitching that's true but a good analog VTX and receiver kind of does the same thing there's all the
[01:23:20] footage cool I got through all the footage let's the batteries are in charging really quick do I have Premiere opened I don't have Premiere opened on another live stream we'll dump the hd0
[01:23:33] footage in we'll crank the contrast we'll see what we can do with it but it's 11:25 already ah [@$#%] it let's do it real quick I have an I have a Premiere file going from the last Sunday
[01:23:48] massive RC drift event I've I'm almost done chopping out all the guard garbage from the footage and so let's just real quick drag one of these hd0 files in let's
[01:24:02] grab that last file and I'm just super quick going to drag it in here and throw an adjustment layer on top and we'll see what happens hopefully I didn't just put that on top of anything else a hold on I want
[01:24:20] to make sure that's not on top oh boy okay so here and then we're going to do a super quick adjustment layer that's fine come on put it up on top here and drag it
[01:24:41] out okay so let's just pick and frame computer does not like having Premiere running while it's live streaming we're blow this up and okay
[01:25:02] so I don't have any darks in this Frame let's let it play real quick here oh god let's unlink these and we'll delete the audio Okay cool so this is a frame that's got highlights
[01:25:19] shadows and everything in between so if we come in here to Li at your color basic correction let's start pushing the contrast up okay so that's up a wow that's a lot of contrast so here's what that just did
[01:25:36] that's with it on that's with it off on off on off on off on that really helps I thought that it would really annihilate the the shadows and the whites but it's not bad at all I can
[01:25:56] pull the Shadows up just a little bit here and then let's pull the highlights down and boy is that a lot better I think I've gone a little too far with I I went a little too far with the contrast
[01:26:13] let's back that off a little bit and then it's all it also kind of struggles with saturation so let's push a chunk of vibr in a chunk of saturation in and let's just see what that looks
[01:26:32] like boy is that better it's still a little the the yellows are really obnoxious the greens too but you could you could fix that with you fix
[01:26:50] that but boy does that help holy crap here's with it off make this a little bigger so I'm going to turn that adjustment layer off and on that's off that's on off on wow
[01:27:09] it's actually not that big of a difference on off on off on let me push the push the contrast a little farther I there's there's just something about the hd0 image that's just not quite right is it
[01:27:32] a white balance thing no this is a gray floor no the white balance is actually dialed huh I don't know I don't know it is 60 frames a second which is really nice frame frame
[01:27:57] frame frame frame frame frame frame frame frame frame frame frame just like analog though analog is also 60 frames a second look at all that motion blur look at how slow the shutter the shutter
[01:28:16] speed is going that's wild usually these FPV cameras will go up to crazy isos and they'll really get rid of most motion blur but this Luxe camera is really slowing its shutter speed down quite a
[01:28:34] bit lots of motion blur look at that huh that's pretty cool I wonder if it's just running at 160th of a I wonder if it's just like locked at 160th of a of a second and
[01:28:50] just moving the moving the the iso up and down I mean that's the best I've seen hd0 look H problem is 04 04 looks a thousand times better [Laughter] all right
[01:29:42] cool neat little experiment all right back to the myth busting session here let's take this out of wait what the hell get this out of here okay quit out don't
[01:29:57] save all right oh has this been playing the whole time that's one of the reasons why the computer was struggling let's first things first we've got the higher KV Motors we're going to we're
[01:30:11] going to make this comparison at four volts and then you guys are going to do some math because I don't know how to do it ah hold on hold on I'm doing this all out of order I got to plug this
[01:30:27] in so on the other Motors we were at 75% motor somebody that is is good at math listen ready I need to type me if you're good at math hopefully there's more than one so
[01:30:44] that you can check each other because I think this might be a confusing math issue on the other rig when I flew it's was on well on the other Motors it was at 40,000 KV they
[01:30:58] were motor limited down to 75% we went into the motors Tab and the average for all four Motors was 5600 RPM that's without the motor limiting though the motor limiting does
[01:31:14] not apply to the motor's tab all right we're going to do that same thing with these 32,500 KV Motors it doesn't really matter what KV these motors are I'm going to run it up we're going to look
[01:31:25] at that number and then what I need you to tell me you good math people is what I need to set the motor limiting at for these 32,500 KV Motors to achieve the exact same RPM cool hopefully that makes
[01:31:42] sense does it make sense I hope so here we go we got it in there oh did I quit out of BetaFlight what a jackass come on BET flight go faster here we go all
[01:32:04] right oh it helps if you plug the USBC into the little dongly boy all right here we go connect Motors Tab and zoom you guys in and understand the
[01:32:25] risks up to 50% we go at 50% we are bouncing between 4500 4600 and 4700 so 4600 KV so the 40,000 KV Motors were turning 5,600 RPM average these are turning 4,600
[01:32:54] RPM average the 40,000 KV Motors I had motor limited to 75% which did not affect this RPM what percent do I need to motor limit these two I hope I did this in a way that that
[01:33:13] math is possible I I think it might be right I think it might be so hopefully two people that are good at math can can agree on the answer oh I'm an idiot I I
[01:33:34] just unplugged that I need it to be plugged in because I need to adjust the motor limiting Craig says not sure [Laughter] thinking oh that's a good idea whoopy says
[01:33:50] have chat DPT do the math so 75% motor output limiting I don't need I have a feeling it's going to be 90 I want this at 95% Tokyo says so on the point about comparing different KV motors motor
[01:34:16] limiting doesn't matter it just stops you being able to use the top percentage of the motor output for this test that I'm doing here it does matter because I'm flying around and the motor
[01:34:26] limiting is going to limit the pit Loop I'm not using Full Throttle I'm just staying it like barely cruising throttle but the pit Loop to make the little tiny Corrections it has the the
[01:34:41] opportunity to crank the motor way up and use a ton of voltage so okay Tokyo DME that's super helpful 4 600 o over 5600 equals 82% so if okay that that's actually all I
[01:35:02] need to know we had this at so if I'd had the if I'd had these motors at 100% this is easy if I'd had these motors at 100% on the 40,000 KV Motors I would I would have run them at
[01:35:20] 82% so I was running them at 75 5% so the 75 times what 18 right 75% time 18 yep yep 75% time 18 is 85 95 92 right 92 I think I want to set these to 92% right 75 75
[01:36:03] plus wait 82% 18 75 plus 18 93 93% 93% yeah 93% right everybody cool we're good let's see what happens we're going to run those exact same three batteries I know that the pit Loop
[01:36:27] doesn't doesn't technically use 100% but it's there's the possibility of it what I'm saying I don't know of a better way of doing this gold battery first we got 2 minutes
[01:36:44] and 15 seconds last time on it again this is Bro Science we are doing bro science science but I'm trying to do the best possible bro science that I can where are those
[01:37:02] goggles and I'm also trying to do as much of this in the real real world as possible what I mean because doing all this stuff with math is I don't I don't really know I
[01:37:19] don't really know I've seen so much stuff in FPV that like the math says one thing and then you go and do it and test it and test it and test it and test it in the real world and it just doesn't
[01:37:32] pan out let's see I almost Stevie wondered it nope no I didn't here we go let the Bro Science commence so we're going to go up high shoot a couple gates up high and then we're going to drop down
[01:37:50] low for the entire battery and we're going to right around this height mix it up turn left turn right and just stay at this height we should not be in ground
[01:38:03] effect it should be a nice clean run so now in theory so the the the thrust stand testing and the math all says that the higher KV Motors even if you motor limit them down are less efficient
[01:38:27] and what are we on now these are the these are the lower KV Motors so we should get more runtime on these three batteries and I think that we will but I don't think
[01:38:40] it'll be much I would love to be wrong though I really would because I am desperate for more runtime from a couple of these builds and if running some lower KV Motors will
[01:38:57] will'll get that done I'm willing to sacrifice the I'm willing to sacrifice how nice it is to have that extra KV so I'm hoping for three minutes here we're at a minute and 40
[01:39:19] already and it's we're only at 3.6 volts might be on to something here and again like in the in this world of tiny whoops we're talking about such huge differences in KV right 40,000
[01:39:38] versus 32,000 that's such a big difference like with a 5 in rig or with like a 3-inch rig or getting a 1950 KV motor instead of an 1800 KV motor I think that's really
[01:39:53] no-brainer but with tiny whoops there's the potential for unless you're like doing racing right like if you're doing racing or you're doing something where that efficiency
[01:40:07] really matters absolutely get the lowest KV motor possible and run it at 100% unquestionably but for most people low battery a come on come on come on come on come on
[01:40:23] ah ah all right 2 minutes and 45 let's see where the voltage bounces back up to so that's 30 more seconds on the gold battery and the B come on keep bouncing up you bastard come on it had bounced up
[01:40:39] to 3.6 it's not going to get to 3.6 3.58 though 2 minutes 45 3.58 and now the now the battery's coming back down 30 more seconds of run time and we only ran the battery down .02 of a volt
[01:40:57] farther next up is going to be the blue battery 30 extra seconds of runtime is real I will take that all day here we go what did I say blue battery no no no blue
[01:41:20] battery up high couple Gates 30 seconds of runtime is especially impressive when we're only getting 2 minutes and 15 seconds right 30 when when the run time is 2
[01:41:40] minutes 30 extra seconds a runtime is like what's that like 25% more it's a little bit less than that I think that's like a 20% Improvement in runtime that's legitimate that is a
[01:41:56] a serious result the big the the massive amount of inconsistency here is my flying I should really do this with like 10 batteries in a row but I I I don't have time or patience for
[01:42:27] that so three batteries will have to do I really like having these rigs on the 40,000 KV Motors because every once in a while I'll fly these outside and I'll crank them up to 100% And they're a
[01:42:47] [@$#%] blast outside with a 32,000 KV HappyModel motor it's not going to be nearly as fun to fly outside but that's okay I I I kind of like the idea of these builds only being
[01:43:05] flown to chase the RC drift cars so they they never get like stuck in trees or or like crash really [@$#%] hard so that's okay but like for people that aren't going to have 15 [@$#%]
[01:43:22] tiny whoops look 40,000 KV Motors and then you motor limit them down and you change batteries a little bit more often that's the move as far as I'm concerned blue battery 2 minutes and 15
[01:43:37] oh okay so it was a minute and 56 call it a minute and 55 so 20 extra seconds of runtime here bouncing back up to 3.61 get up to 3.63 you bastard nope 3.61 same deal I ran the battery down
[01:43:52] point to lower so 3.61 2 minutes 15 3.61 if anybody's keeping track for me so 30 extra seconds of runtime 20 extra seconds of runtime and now for the red and green battery that's really what
[01:44:10] matters is is that that number how much extra runtime and so you get to decide is at this point 20 an average of 25 seconds of extra runtime worth having a motor that you have to
[01:44:30] run at 100% And that you can't have a bunch of extra power that's funny last time the core temperature did the same thing couple gates up high and we drop down
[01:44:45] low if I'm going to have one of these HD builds that only runs for like a little over 2 minutes an extra 20 seconds of run time is a big deal if I've got like a lightweight analog rig that I'm getting
[01:45:06] like three three and a half minutes out of I don't really think I care about that about an extra 20 seconds I'd rather have more power this VTX is flashing I feel like
[01:45:23] this Matrix AIO might be on its way out which is super annoying because I was I haven't really put many batteries through this and I was really hoping that this would be an alternative to the
[01:45:39] 2g4 and sample size of one right so I I could have just gotten a bad one but in the past when I've bought a 2g4 what they don't do any of this
[01:45:57] [@$#%] like I don't think I ever got a single 2g4 that that had issues within like a 100 batteries and I'm probably only like 30 batteries into this Matrix
[01:46:10] AIO and it's flashing what the hell whoa should be getting towards Wards the end of this battery here oh God why did I do that oh it's hanging in there y there it is low battery and land Perfect 2
[01:46:47] minutes and 14 versus a minute and 48 and it's at 3 3.61 3.62 come on get to 364 all three all three of these I ran them down a little bit lower 3.61 so the on the higher KV Motors I rant it was
[01:47:04] 3.64 so 0.03 there we go 3.62 point I did this that's weird I did the same thing on all three but 2 minutes and 14 instead of a minute and 48 15 16 so that's 16
[01:47:24] uh 26 perfect first battery third a [@$#%] were you guys were you guys writing that down what was the first battery was it 20 extra seconds of runtime or was it 30 extra seconds of
[01:47:46] runtime you guys are doing it in live stream live eh here we go okay two so perfect three batteries first battery 30 extra seconds a run time all three batteries I took 0.02
[01:48:04] extra volts out of each battery first battery 30 extra seconds of runtime second battery 20 extra seconds of runtime third battery 26 seconds of run of extra runtime so it averages right
[01:48:18] out to 25 extra seconds of runtime between a 32,500 KV motor and a 40,000 KV motor that's not nothing but I mean that's it that that's it there's no I don't have to make a
[01:48:38] conclusion if you're desperate for more runtime run a lower KV motor if you're willing to sacrifice the ability to crank the motor limiting way the hell up the motor limiting on the
[01:48:51] 32,500 was 18% higher which is what the math told us to do from the RPM feedback coming through BetaFlight and that RPM feedback is like it the RPM bounces around quite a bit so we might have had
[01:49:09] the motor limiting a little bit wrong it shouldn't really make much of a difference though I was flying it absolutely as gently as I possibly could so that the pit Loop had to do ve
[01:49:20] very little to no work the Mot motor limiting I should be able to run so if I turned the pit Loop off I could run both of these sets of Motors at
[01:49:36] 100% and fly it around because there would be no pit Loop to crank it up and down so it' be all Throttle based and so for two and a half minutes if it's all Throttle based and you're staying at the
[01:49:48] same altitude and running the same speed then all things are sort of equal at that point super interesting I am going to be putting lower KV Motors on
[01:50:05] my on the digital rigs because I I 2 minutes the the' 04 rig on the 36,000 KV Motors I'm getting around 2 minutes and 20 seconds if I can get 2 minutes and 40 seconds that's a big ass win or
[01:50:22] even 2 minutes and 50 that's amazing and so I'm just basically going to take these things down and so here's the other thing right the reason that I I've been putting the higher KV
[01:50:36] Motors on these things is not just because I fly them outside every once in a while it's also because I had started to try and do like acrobatic chasing stuff like flips over over like you lock
[01:50:49] in on one side of the car and then you do like a roll over onto the other side of the car and then you try to lock in there it's just too hard I think the issue is basically that it's I I
[01:51:01] think it's an issue of scale these RC drifts cars are roughly this big and then look at the size of this imagine if that scale right this is like like four tiny whoops are basically the
[01:51:14] size of these RC drift cars imagine if you went to a real a real drifting event and the the drones that they were fly were the were the size of a quarter of the car they would be 10in prop lifters
[01:51:30] right and so if you think about how a lifter would chase a real siiz drift car it'd be a lot like what we're doing with these a 5 in build with a GoPro on it is like we would need the the tiny whoops
[01:51:45] to be like this big right to scale that down and the the the 5 in rigs are the ones that the the the the dudes are doing the front flips over the cars and the really acrobatic like Freestyle
[01:51:58] looking full size drift car chasing with and so it just doesn't really work with these what works with these is nailing your elevation and dropping down on their door and getting that shot
[01:52:11] of the of the rear wheel spinning and then breaking and then spinning again and so I'm going to get the the high KB Motors off of these HD rigs on the analog drift car chasing rigs
[01:52:26] they get plenty of runtime so I'm actually going to put higher KV motors on them because what the hell I can use those to try to play around a little bit with what I really want to do
[01:52:36] is I want to do a big wall ride on that where that mural is and so there you go KV does a in in the world of tiny whoops where we have these massive changes in KV it absolutely does affect
[01:52:52] the runtime even with the motor limiting not a perfect test I might have had the motor limiting numbers a little bit different a little bit wrong they seem pretty right though
[01:53:07] it was an 8 it was an 82 from from the RPM coming back into BetaFlight the numbers were 82% the stamped KVs on the motors would would reflect that almost
[01:53:23] perfectly so pretty cool stuff for a freestyle for for a tiny whoop that I'm going to fly freestyle though I don't care about 20 seconds I will take the extra power of the 40,000 KV Motors all day
[01:53:42] long and just change batteries more often the the the way that these 17 18 gram not this the way that these freestyle rigs fly on 36,000 40,000 KV Motors it's just too
[01:54:01] good it's just too good to ignore let me get caught up on chat and then we will part ways for the evening my friends super 62 says I thought you might be chasing no pun RF
[01:54:25] interference not just multipathing have you tried the race settings on the 04 no I can't do race on the' 04 because I don't have goggles 3 be chasing RF interference not just
[01:54:43] multipathing I'm also chasing potentially chasing electrical noise on the on the AO God knows how clean the electrical system is on the ao5 with all that [@$#%] crammed in there
[01:54:55] they might have had to drop capacitors to get everything to fit Fizz PV says just drop the clip meteor 75 Pro with the Matrix AIO and the CO3 get much more breakup in the back shop
[01:55:06] versus in the front area another thing that I I forgot to mention that I'm going to try with the HD zero rig is moving the the trans the the VTX power up and down I think
[01:55:19] it's on 25 Ms right now which I usually like to prevent multipathing but I I need to experiment a little bit more with it Kazuma says I've been doing this FPV car stuff where I try to make it
[01:55:31] look scale from the camera your sim stream reminded me of it I think you would like it FPV systems in groundbased stuff is something that that could ruin
[01:55:45] [Laughter] me that's something that I could get really carried away with so keep it away from me because the last thing I need is something to obsess over Tokyo Dom says you might
[01:56:01] need to mess with the contrast on the camera settings on your HD Zer stuff there there are recommended settings out there that are not the default very cool Matthew Wagner says hd0 camera
[01:56:11] settings have their own stick command hold ya' stick right before arm I have not played with that in the HD zero I kind of forgot about that to be honest Co power says pal is
[01:56:23] 50 frames per second it is indeed and it's got more vertical field to view which is kind of cool Craig says not sure thinking okay so here's where we figured out the the motor output so we talk
[01:56:34] through all this Craig says color we got that Tokyo Dam says you have shot down this idea before but I'll keep suggesting it until you try it 23,000 KV 0702 then reverse
[01:56:51] Expo in BetaFlight mid 1.0 Expo point8 those numbers exactly 23 wow 23,000 KV 0702 I don't have anything that low of a KV I'll try to find the lowest I think the lowest KV I've got is 28,500 on this
[01:57:17] but man the reverse Expo thing I that's tough I'll do it right now we'll fly two batteries how late is it's only 11 it's not even 12 yet we're good we'll fly two
[01:57:34] batteries one with whatever the hell the current setup is and I'll fly super low to the ground and we will see what's what I think what you're saying really relies on crazy low K Motors but this is
[01:57:56] the best I can do this is the lowest that I've got all right so where is this thing now so this is the Nano 3 rig that I've gotten damn near six minutes from before so let's
[01:58:15] go into rate throttle mid is 38% throttle Expo is 40 it's a lot of throttle Expo but this thing like I can sit this thing so I I can control the elevation so cleanly on
[01:58:49] this it's this is so much fun to chase those drift cars with it's just like I can sit's down on their door and just leave it's like look how good this is look how low I can just like maintain
[01:59:20] it look how much I'm moving the throttle and then watch this I'm going to bounce the throttle up and down watch how much I can hold on let me get a nice straight
[01:59:30] run but watch the throttle Val you bounce up and down and my elevation is barely changing that's why that's what makes it so magic is that you can be super active on the
[01:59:48] throttle and then like every time something happens you're already moving the throttle and you can just like make a super quick adjustment it's like takes out that lag time of like seeing
[02:00:01] something happening realizing that you need to move the stick moving the stick it going through the air what I mean these 28,500 still have some Jam man I forgot how to I forgot how
[02:00:38] good these low KV 72s did do I think one of these props is banged up on here though a I tried to go backwards through there there it is man these 285s are not bad holy [@$#%]
[02:01:12] oh boy I missed it I tried to go through it backwards oh no all right that's enough I don't need to run the battery all the way down I just wanted to get used to this rig a
[02:01:43] little bit all right mid 1.0 Expo point8 all right let's see fresh battery let's see what happens here I think I can do it in the I think I can do it in the OSD right
[02:02:11] mid what is it again mid 1.0 Expo point8 mid 1.0 Expo point8 where is it's in here Expo all the way up to 80 mid all the way up as high as it'll go and this might not work because these
[02:02:36] motors might be too high of a KV oh okay okay all right so holy [@$#%] all right so it hovers it Jesus it hovers at 16% throttle oh my God okay so
[02:02:54] hold on the wow it's just so sensitive I mean so this feels like no Expo and the reason why this is probably worse than no Expo the reason why is that the hover point is in the wrong part of the Expo
[02:03:20] curve the the we want the hover point to and this is where these motors just might be too high of a KV oh I'll just hold on let me just motor limit them down I could just motor limit these way
[02:03:31] the hell down to simulate the the lower KV MK PP and then now [@$#%] gotta go down down down down down so you said 22,000 KV these are 28,000 oh I wish I could do math better
[02:03:50] motor output limit let's go down to oh [@$#%] oh [@$#%] stupid let's go down to 75% I'm going to take a guess come on come on on go go go go there we go
[02:04:13] 75% that's way better the hover point is now up at like a normal value 25 26 but the throttle is still way more sensitive so by putting the the midpoint up really high by maxing out the
[02:04:35] midpoint the majority of the the throttle curve is going to not be in the in the flat spot this is this is way more sensitive way way way more sensitive o woo it's not nearly as bad as it was a
[02:05:16] second ago but we are not in the flat part we are not in the flat part oh boy we are not in the flat part of the of the Expo curve which is why this is happening and so this is why I always
[02:05:39] tell you guys that if you're not going to actually learn how to use the throttle Expo and fully understand it don't use it because this is basically what's going to happen you're going to
[02:05:49] make it more sensitive than if it was linear this might be the same as if it were linear I'll tell you right now let's make it linear M PP I'm going to leave the
[02:06:10] I'm going to leave the fart I'm going to leave the motor limiting on but I'm just going to turn off the throttle Expo and so I'm going to put it to linear and I I can maybe tell you if we
[02:06:23] were at the Steep part of the curve or if we were in a flat part well so now the hover point is really high which I'm going to adjust to by just moving my
[02:06:34] hand so now this is easier so we were in the Steep part we were in the Steep part of the of the throttle Expo this is fully linear right now and it's noticeably less sensitive
[02:06:53] even though it's hovering at 50% boy is it weird to fly around at 50% throttle but I've moved my hand way up on the transmitter so I can barely notice it let me see if I can shoot the
[02:07:09] under the bar cart Gap I mean I can feel it like this is this is better I think you guys can see it too oh boy there's no power there because of the motor
[02:07:39] [Laughter] limiting come on oh Big Boy what are you doing prancing prance prance prance prance prance thank God his hair is getting a little bit
[02:08:10] longer come on give me that Teddy Gap let me fly under there let me fly under there small dog oh God do I not have warnings turned on why is the battery getting down so
[02:08:23] low all right let me fix the all the wackiness that I just did here M PP nope they added a bunch of [@$#%] to this menu where's the motor out there it is output up to
[02:08:41] 100 and we're going to go to rate and Expo back up to four I probably don't need 40 let's do 30 man does it feel good with 40 though God damn and then I [@$#%] I forget what
[02:08:56] the midpoint was I think it was maybe 38 I think it was 38 all right we're back so that that was that's the opposite of what I'm sort of looking for but again it might be
[02:09:12] because the the motors are too high of a KV but I I I don't what the the reverse Expo thing it flattens out the bottom and then it makes the whole top steep so the problem with my problem
[02:09:34] with doing that is that so the bottom of the when the when when we flatten when when we flatten out rates that makes it so that you can move the stick more and get less of a reaction from the Quad so
[02:09:47] if you want your footage to look butter smooth that's what you want you want to fly with Expo so that your sticks the the where your sticks normally hang out is where the Expo is because then you
[02:10:01] can move the stick a bunch and the rig will just move a little bit in reaction and so having a reverse Expo where it's really flat down the bottom and then it shoots up you have to have your
[02:10:12] hover Point crazy low in order to take advantage of that I would rather just lift the curve up a little bit so that I can have a normal hover point and then I've got that same sort of flat spot
[02:10:28] I don't understand why I I guess just if you're used to having like a hover Point that's at like 5 or 10% I guess it maybe makes sense but I I can't fly I I can't have a hover Point super low
[02:10:41] like that it's just it's just excruciating because like there's there's just I I spend time down there I spend time just giving like a little bit of throttle like when when I'm dropping
[02:10:52] elevation and stuff I I I wouldn't be able to get used to that that's super interesting though I'm glad that you brought it up again and I tried it but that is not for
[02:11:04] me that is definitely not for me D we did a ton of stuff tonight holy Christ cold power says technically it's a 25% increase going from 2 to 2.5 it's 20% reduction going 2.5 to2 Uriel
[02:11:24] says a bunch of words oh Chia Bellow I'm crashing see in Continuum in Continuum Craig says second table added to live stream Discord thank you Craig
[02:11:37] what was the limiting for 32,000 KV I think it was 90 oh I need to fix it I I I need to fix a bunch of stuff on these it was this so this is now
[02:11:53] on now I'm going to take these motors off of here I don't know what I'm going to do with this build I might pull this build apart th this Matrix a is doing all kinds of weird stuff it's flashing
[02:12:06] it's this I think this is getting pulled apart this Matrix aiio is going to go back into a freestyle build and then I'm going to figure something else to do
[02:12:20] because I'm taking these Motors off of here I'm going to take these motors off here and I'm going to put them onto the 04 rig to get a little bit more runtime out of
[02:12:29] it so I'm going to do a bunch of I'm going to do a bunch of moving and grooving with these things Craig says we got that game c flew 20 new batteries today very cool that's how
[02:12:51] get good my friend Tokyo Dom says F finally you came to that conclusion I was trying to tell you about Craig says what was the limiting number 92% I'm pretty sure it was 92% let's let's look just
[02:13:06] to completely round this thing on out but this Matrix build was a bit of a fail I gotta be honest I I had High Hopes I should have known though BetaFPV has
[02:13:22] kind of always had a hard time with vtx's they they've vtx's tend to be one of their real weak points 93 93% so we're going to crank that up to 100 not that it really matters
[02:13:41] but so doing a cinematic analog build with a BetaFPV AIO is probably the worst idea ever and so this Matrix is going to go back into a freestyle rig and I'll smash
[02:13:55] the [@$#%] out of it and we'll we'll see how long it lasts it looks it's already on its way out with that flashing coold Power says looking forward to an 04 toothpick
[02:14:11] made from actual toothpicks then Zill turle says do those Wii drift cars have actual brakes or just motor breing just motor breaking toky D says if you have that on 40%
[02:14:25] throttle Expo already then lower KV will feel exactly the same without any Expo you have much more resolution around hover throttle feel exactly the same without any Expo but I tested that right I took
[02:14:46] all the Expo out and I ran it linear and it and it and it felt better linear M here a quick visual for everybody here's a quick visual of what I was talking about in
[02:15:04] case you you haven't spent hours and hours and hours in the rat tab screwing around like some of us have the the reverse Expo thing where am I going so we're talking about throttle Expo
[02:15:23] right hold on fors ah farts hold up 0.32 0.30 okay so here's what the reverse Jesus here's what the reverse Expo looks like so th this is normal Expo I'm going to I'm going to crank it
[02:15:50] way up we're going to go8 so this is this is regular Expo right so where this flattens out this is where we get the extra sensitivity and we can just lock in our elevation right in this area
[02:16:05] and so this is where you want to be flying where it's flattened where it's steeper that is going to give you less sensitivity and it's going to make it more jumpy in terms of elevation and so
[02:16:19] if we take this midpoint so this midpoint right now is 32% that's roughly where we're we're cruising at if we take this mid and we bring it all the way up to one oh I thought it
[02:16:33] did the opposite I thought it flattened out the bottom it flattens out the top so making the midpoint 1.0 this is for Racers so the top up here is flattened out so if you fly at like 80 90 %
[02:16:51] throttle the entire time then you're going to have much better resolution just up top here but then the whole bottom part is a lot steeper and so that's why when I turned the Expo off
[02:17:05] when I zeroed it out that's why it felt better because this is a less this is a more flattened out well it's not a curve but this is more flattened out here with no expo at all what I thought
[02:17:21] you were talking about was zeroing it out and so if you zero out the midpoint the bottom all the way down low here is is more flattened out and there's there's more there's better
[02:17:35] throttle resolution down here but again you're going to have to set up you're going to have to set it up to hover this neither one of these is is really going to work unless you're a racer for
[02:17:46] for a racer maybe this would work if you if you find yourself flying at like 70 80 90% throttle the entire battery this could totally work do any Racers do this is this a thing with
[02:17:59] Racers for me I will never put this midpoint all the way on the top or all the way on the bottom I will always Center it roughly at what your cruising throttle
[02:18:10] is this is why a lot of my cinematic flying looks the way that it does this is why my elevation doesn't bounce all over the place and it looks like super just sort of locked in or
[02:18:25] whatever but that was super interesting to try that out 3230 good to go very cool what else is happening in chat Mike K says have you tried any flash hobby Arthur series Motors if so
[02:18:49] what do you think of them flash hobby is dys I ran plenty of dys Motors in my early days of FPV they're the least expensive and they are the worst quality usually they do kind of work but they
[02:19:05] are not as well balanced and when a motor lets go it tends to get expensive right if you're 100 feet up and a motor dies that not only has that motor gone up so there
[02:19:21] 15 20 bucks you're probably going to blow up an arm you might take a GoPro with it right so I for me the spending five or 10 extra dollars on Motors is well worth it
[02:19:35] because they're they're not something that can fail and you can limp at home like when they fail you're [@$#%] so I don't recommend it Tokyo di says have a look y just did that push
[02:19:48] his throttle up fart YouTube just did the thing scrolling back up oh wait I am at the bottom of the chat pushes the throttle up for low throttle position and gives you a the
[02:20:07] poppy feel of a high it certainly feels poppy that's for sure it's like every tiny little bit of throttle movement that you move that you make there's a massive change in the in the
[02:20:17] RPM so it's like super reactive it feels like a rig that has shitloads of power I hate that actually I I like the complete opposite I want it to feel dead so that I can go from like like 14 inches off
[02:20:33] the ground to 14.1 inches off the ground versus going from 14 in off the ground to 18 inches off the ground I hate that elevation bouncing I I think that looks it might be fun to fly that way but
[02:20:47] like it's more about like what the footage looks like for me and that looks like a super amateur pilot like kind of bouncing around on elevation that's one of the ways that I can tell how long
[02:20:56] someone's been flying is how good they they are at locking their their elevation in and flying at the same elevation that to me looks way way way more professional like
[02:21:08] mavic's this is why this is not why but like with a mavic Center throttle it just stops and that's why mavic footage looks so good cuz it's not you don't have to manage the throttle
[02:21:19] and it's not bouncing on over the damn place it's just locked at an elevation and it manages that with GPS and all that [@$#%] strier says how you doing I'm still thinking of a smaller outdoor
[02:21:31] analog rig I know one want to buy X12 try a bunch of stuff what are you doing for outdoor front yard stuff analog X12 X12 on 2S that is the way to go for sure 2S 2 in maybe 2
[02:21:45] s76 if you're on analog you don't need to go all the way up to 2 inch unless you want to really if if it's really windy you can do the 75 X12 on a 75 with 2S is is unbelievably good
[02:21:57] coold power says if you click and hold up and down arrow it should update each number it's basically animating the movement of the curve I forgot about that I I realized
[02:22:07] that it by accident at one point I totally forgot about it Mike K says bad quality is all I needed to hear one of the best 1404 Motors out there t-motor t-motor 1404 4600s somebody
[02:22:17] did a bunch of thrust stand testing and they kicked the [@$#%] out of the other 144s toam says well [@$#%] why are you messing around with high KV low KV does this without any Expo because High KV
[02:22:29] Motors you can get the best of both worlds you can get a shitload of power at just the top of the throttle and then you can push a bunch of Expo in so I can cruise around and have like crazy
[02:22:41] elevation control but then when I want a massive hit of power all I have to do is stab Full Throttle and last 10% gives me a massive hit of power so I can have sort of Best of Both Worlds it also
[02:22:56] allows me to do those like those stops where like I I get into a flip and then just stab the throttle and it and the it just like and then it's a it's kind of a look I rely on it for tiny
[02:23:10] whoops because they don't make enough power in order to do like the crazy freestyle [@$#%] you have to have a shitload of power to keep it from hitting the ground like one of the
[02:23:22] things we struggle with doing like Matty flips power Loops all this crazy [@$#%] in an area where there's an 8ot ceiling is hang time we don't have enough Hang Time and so we need a ton of
[02:23:35] power because we need to come in really low to the ground and we need to just stab the throttle and have it hurl itself up into the air so that we can get a little bit of extra hang time so
[02:23:46] you just stab the throttle big hit of power back onto zero you get a little bit of Hang Time that's enough time to see the gate that you're trying to go through upside down and backwards and
[02:23:57] then a little bit of extra Hang Time on the way down and then stab the throttle as late as you possibly can on the ground but without the throttle Expo the really high KV Motors are super hard
[02:24:10] to fly because you can't lock your elevation in and so that's why we add all the throttle Expo so that you can slam it down on the deck and fly it real cool real low to the ground it also
[02:24:23] like literally allows you to fly lower to the ground right the lower you are the more hang time because you can exaggerate flying really low and then scraping the ceiling and then coming all
[02:24:35] the way back down low and so that's basically why the the whole High KV massive throttle Expo setup works really well in my opinion and in my experience for flying pretty hardcore
[02:24:50] freestyle inside the house there aren't many people that do it I haven't seen many people that can do like the the three-dimensional kind of flying that we typically associate with outside in a
[02:25:04] small space right this basement is like 600 square feet 700 square feet it's super hard to do all that stuff in here and have it still look good have it not look like totally out of
[02:25:18] control I'm also like not that great of a pilot I'm very decent but compared to some of these 17 18yar old tiny whoop race Pilots that have also done freestyle stuff compared to Bobby I am
[02:25:32] nothing nothing and so I rely on gear and tuning and stuff to help me be able to come anywhere near what those guys can do I would love to see one of those really high-end
[02:25:49] Pilots dial in let basically fly one of my rigs because I think that what they do without throttle Expo is just staggering and I think with throttle Expo properly set they would be
[02:26:04] absolutely next level but kind of is what it is I don't I don't want that because then they'll make me look even worse what's up cmk how are you brother put a question clip weird 75mm
[02:26:19] Behavior live stream Discord new one for me what are we looking at here oh God would you stop Flying like this oh it be wobbling did the battery come out oh it be wobbling it's wobbling as
[02:26:36] if it's got a dingleberry is it like doing that forever now look it's totally fine although you wouldn't no it with with all this chaos but then it's and look the the the
[02:26:56] the RPM values have Frozen I think that the the flight controller like locked up in some weird way that's weird but those the RPM values froze up that's
[02:27:14] weird did it is it still doing that or is it not doing that anymore I bet you it's not doing that anymore it floated down and then it was fine wow that's super weird was it
[02:27:28] not I'm going to guess it was not responding to your stick inputs toky D says but you can't get the flight times yep and that's the that is the
[02:27:46] that is the balance how much flight time do you want how much power you want I have a ton of these little batteries I don't have a problem with like two 2 and 1 half minute flight
[02:27:55] times the HappyModel Motors are very efficient and so just change batteries I I just change batteries more often on the on the rigs to chase the drift cars though things are different
[02:28:10] I had gone to these high KV Motors because I was trying to emulate I forget there there's a couple FPV pilot 5- in Pilots that chase drift cars in this like
[02:28:25] unbelievable Full Tilt freestyle way where like they'll lock in on one side front flip over to the other side park it up on the front bumper flying backwards front flip it to the back
[02:28:35] bumper and so I'd moved a bunch of these to high KV Motors to try to do that but it's just unrealistic it's the the like I talked about earlier the scale is just wrong we would need
[02:28:47] like we would need like a 25 mm tiny whoop like 25 mm motor to motor 35 mm motor to motor with like/ in propellers to get it to scale right for that so now I'm going to be moving
[02:29:01] pretty much all these Chase rigs down quite a bit on KV thanks for hanging friends lots of good conversation tonight tricky FPV is one of them but there's
[02:29:16] um there's a guy in there's a pilot in Europe that is just it's just outrageous hold on let me see if I can find him real quick oh my God it's 12:30 real quick FPV drift let's put the word chaos in see if
[02:29:40] that'll find it sure did gaver gaver FPV so the the oh my God I'm just going to give you guys the link gavver style is who I was trying to emulate with the high KV but it's just totally unrealistic
[02:29:59] there you guys go thanks for hanging friends I'll see you on Friday at 7 be good I guess I played through all the footage oh here's here's me flying around the front yard with the 75
[02:30:12] mm 2S 04 build a few days ago day 10 75mm and here you go see you Friday get in there get here we go see you a n a n
