[00:02:23] hey friends my name is Aaron Ciotti everybody calls me Ciotti welcome to the show it's five inch Friday Co ain't letting go it's just hanging around it's very annoying very
[00:02:40] very very annoying it doesn't pop up often but it's there every so every once in a while it's getting a little bit better though it's not getting any better it's better it's way better
[00:02:50] it doesn't it doesn't happen very often but like I can tell that it's not all the way out of my lungs yet which is the scariest part i' I've heard a lot of people people have that same experience
[00:03:01] it sucks did I finally there's a chance that I finally killed an acon ESC and apparently what killed it was just leaving the quad up on the wall there for like a
[00:03:21] year I don't get it this is the rasante the gray and red 16 mm standoff DJI old school Vista Glide and I brought it out to Rampage and the the one motor was
[00:03:49] twitching and then I brought it out to the the local meet not remembering the one motor was twitching again and then I remember remembered you got to fix it you donkey and I just
[00:04:05] put it into BetaFlight to confirm that and motor number three is twitching as if the ESC has died but we're not going to swap out the ESC yet swapping out the ESC is an awful lot more work
[00:04:22] than swapping out a motor so first things first we're going to swap the motor out just to make totally sure that it's not that it actually might be the motor every once in a while if you
[00:04:34] look down into the windings on certain Motors you can hit the Bell really hard I'm guessing the last time that I flew this I had a really hard hit that sent the Bell up into the
[00:04:47] stator and all of these new Motors are using a rubber washer a rubber o-ring rather between the Bell and The Stater to damp that shock that comes through when you hit inverted and on
[00:05:04] certain Motors the the spokes on the Bell can come into contact with the top of the windings and I can see a couple little witness marks on the tops of the windings of this stator so that might be
[00:05:18] it I'm really hoping that that's it I kind of don't think that it is it's doesn't look that bad and you kind of have to you have to cut all the way through the windings for it to start
[00:05:31] doing what it's doing but still if you think your ESC is going and it's just one motor that's twitching change the motor you're going to go through Motors anyway like if you don't have an
[00:05:44] extra motor but you have an extra ESC order an extra motor you're going to need it at some point and swap it on worst case scenario you spent a tiny little bit of time swapping the motor
[00:05:55] out and then you've got a backup motor that's perfectly good that even has the wires cut to the proper length so you've you've saved yourself a little bit of time potentially in the field
[00:06:06] when you might need that extra motor and solder it on so when you thinking ESC is going if it's just one channel if it's like two channels or all of them or if it won't power up or any
[00:06:16] other right problem that leads you to believe that the ESC is shot sure just just swap the ESC out but in my opinion if it's just one motor that's acting up first things first do
[00:06:27] the do the thing that is is way way way quicker way easier check it out there's absolutely you're not losing anything other than a tiny little amount of time make sense this is also a Q&A
[00:06:42] live stream as they all are and we're going to do a little a little bit of mail bagging I'm you guys get to check out my ball my my my bag of mail my mail ball
[00:06:55] bag stay tuned for that it's going to get hairy no it's mail I stole that from Mighty Car Mods go subscribe to their channel here on YouTube it's the best channel in the
[00:07:18] world a mystery package which is a bamboo lab hotend with hardened steel nozzle 4 millime whoever sent this to me thank you very much I now have a hardened steel
[00:07:35] nozzle I now have a hardened steel hot end sometimes the jokes make themselves let's see what it looks like it looks like technology is this something that you're not supposed to get your greasy
[00:07:50] fingerprints all over I don't know probably not it's probably fine but I'll air on the side of caution and hold it with this paper look at that it's a hardened steel
[00:08:07] hot end woo fancy so from what I can piece together with 3D printing things the the material that this little nozzle is made of is a hardened steel so that you can run more abrasive filament
[00:08:28] through this versus the regular nozzle that comes with the bamboo lab A1 Mini which I have which I want Rampage is not hard and steel I'm guessing that it not being hard and Ste like the the
[00:08:43] the first question that comes to mind is why the hell wouldn't they just put harden steel nozzles and everything well I guess it's probably cheaper to not do harden steel and maybe it's also like
[00:08:52] more precise for it to not be hard and steel probably it's just cheaper though it's almost certain certainly cheaper so they're giving you a nozzle that works for most stuff
[00:09:03] but then if you want to do the wacky [@$#%] with like carbon fiber bits in it or like the glow-in-the-dark filament apparently is abrasive for some reason you have to buy a different nozzle
[00:09:17] I'm tempted to like just put this nozzle in and just run it all the time is there any reason that I shouldn't do that 3D printing people in the Chad any reason not to just throw this in and
[00:09:31] have this just be the main nozzle if not then I'll probably do that before I even fire the thing up for the first time I saw a video I I weirdly stumbled across the Youtube
[00:09:44] video how to swap this in and it's like crazy easy you just take the little front plate off and there's a little latch you pop the latch there's a door the thing pops out you slam the new
[00:09:55] thing in and Away you go so very cool whoever sent this to me thank you very much that was an awesome little surprise next up we've got a box from wee bed FPV
[00:10:11] zotte always always always hooking me up super super super generous we've got a note that says a gift for you and your gangly gang families rock on thank you for what you do Jeff zot thank you
[00:10:28] so much dude I don't see you in the chat yet but maybe you'll watch this on replay we've got this is wild I I I actually needed a little bit of a reup on these so if you don't know wee bed
[00:10:41] wee bed's color is like red right blood red wee bed has had has worked with both GemFan and HQ on their amazing lightweight triblade props and only at Weeble can you get them in red and
[00:10:58] zotech knows that my logo color my new logo color is is red as well so he hooked the brother up this is awesome I I actually was just starting to run a little bit low on the HQ props I
[00:11:11] think I have some extras of these but I go through these 129s so this is great this is super super super cool for him to send these over and then we've got a couple of
[00:11:21] crown frames here we've a nice big old sticker tips down to protect your crown oh cool these are clear I have two or three extra Crown frames in clear so these are going to be giveaway items
[00:11:39] thank you for that zot that is very very cool let's see if anything has changed on the frame I can't imagine that it has n regular old cram frame awesome and it's tips down in the Box I wonder why
[00:11:52] tips down protects it why wouldn't tips up protect it or is that like a joke is there a joke that I'm missing kilo zebra says I think the brass has better thermal conductivity
[00:12:02] because of the copper in the brass alloy Grom says you can toss the nonh hardened one you'll never use it again carbon fiber filaments are great because they look amazing 100% recommend the actual
[00:12:13] material properties are negligible and then crom and kilo zebra talking back and forth cool very cool I will keep the other one but I'll probably swap it in all
[00:12:26] right good so these are going to go here for me to remember to put them in the giveaway box we've got a couple little BR boxes here oh cool cool so this
[00:12:39] is wee bed's version of the prop puller I forget what he calls it but this is pretty cool so the all right hold on so there's there's all kinds of cool stuff going on with
[00:12:57] this so the I think it's in here there are extra little tips I'm pretty sure so if you hold this I thought I can hear them rattling around yeah so
[00:13:14] you remove this and then in here there's a couple of extra tips and they're I'm going to assume that it's 8 mm 1 mm 1.5 mm and then and I'm also going to assume that the one that's on here is 1
[00:13:38] mil well it might be 1 mil 1.52 let me I can figure this out real quick hold on where is a 1.5 mil motor oh right down here so I've got this will be easy to figure out
[00:13:59] where the where the motors at this is the 2S build that we're going to dive back into next week or maybe Sunday all right so this is a 1 and a half millimeter motor shaft so let's see
[00:14:14] is it the same diameter is this one it sure is okay so it's 1 mm 1.5 mm 2 mm for toothpicks which is very very cool and then and then you
[00:14:31] unscrew this guy here and then it's probably has it's probably like a like a drill chuck and you just drop it in there and Away you go that's super cool because I have heard of people
[00:14:42] breaking these if you're breaking these you're doing something wrong you should not be breaking these but it is very cool to have the other two sizes and they're stored right in the hollowed out
[00:14:56] little center part which is absolutely absolutely awesome because otherwise you'd store them in your toolbox and they would 100% disappear so we've got the little spring up
[00:15:08] here and then so here's going to be my main comparison is the little shovel bit here how thin is it this is my current favorite from Tiny whoop it's still got the spring up here it doesn't have
[00:15:24] the extra little things or the replaceable things but this part that goes between the propeller and the motor is very very thin the the original version it was a little bit thicker and
[00:15:37] it was tapered so pretty close but the the tiny whoop one is still ever so slightly thinner I have actually also heard of people breaking this so if you're a gorilla you might want the one but for
[00:15:59] me I really dig this one see how thin that that is I really and as long as you're gentle you won't break it but man this is close th this new one from Weeble is super close and it seems to
[00:16:15] get like a little bit thicker which actually kind of helps because you can sort of wedge it in there so absolutely nothing wrong with this I don't know if this is still in stock but
[00:16:24] the the prop poppers have commonly been going in and out of stock so absolutely nothing wrong with this I love that there's the extra little tips there the only feedback that I
[00:16:36] would possibly give on this thing is that maybe make the front of this little shovel a little bit thinner cuz we we talk about this all the time like it really really really does help to
[00:16:48] push the propeller all the way down onto the onto the bell of the motor and sometimes that gap between the propeller and the motor Bell becomes like really really small and it becomes difficult
[00:17:01] to kind of wedge to get the prop popper wedged in there it is kind of cool that there is a little bit of a ramp on this one like I said the the original prop popper it had a little bit of a
[00:17:14] ramp just like this and you could always get it in there and kind of wiggle it back and forth and it would it would kind of drive itself in what would happen though is it would leave like a
[00:17:22] little Mark on the bell of the motor right like God forbid but at the same time this new th this new clone popper I think it's called kind of fixed that that little tiny
[00:17:38] obnoxious totally not an actual problem problem so I dig it I am going to keep this one on the desk though because those other the the the 1 mm and the 1 and a half millimeter
[00:17:54] and the I'm sorry the one and a half millimeter and the 2 millimeter drop in points are going to be super handy for like toothpicks or the the bigger 75mm rigs so very cool this one is
[00:18:07] mine you guys can have these other two though two of them for giveaways which is super awesome very very very generous as always we've also got hold on let me get this motor out of here
[00:18:22] before I forget that it exists oh oh oh by the way by the way by the way by the way on whoop Wednesday I told you guys the wrong thing on these motor plugs get out of
[00:18:38] here motor I told you guys the wrong thing on these motor plugs I told you to set the motor plugs up so that the pins were on the inside and that the plug was sticking out farther that was wrong it's
[00:18:50] backwards if you just look on the board they have silk screened they they've put silk screen lines that and just line the plug up with the silk screening so I had to remove those two
[00:19:02] and then resolder them and then I put the other two on and then I I screwed around again with how I wanted to sort of Orient the top board and then I decided that I wanted to put it like
[00:19:16] this which is the same orientation as all the other WalkSnail rigs that I've built and I measured these wires out and I got it wrong and the wires are too short now
[00:19:29] now so I can either change actually I ended up putting I I I what I want to do is put the the VTX antenna in the back and then just run the antenna right out the back but like an idiot I cut these wires
[00:19:43] too short and so now I can either half ass it and just turn the board which will technically work but then these wires are I don't know they're kind of big and then the the antenna
[00:19:56] wire is here so it's going to have to cross over these or I can remove all of this liquid electric tape here which I've done before and is totally doable but is a complete pain in the ass
[00:20:11] remove these wires desolder desolder and then put a whole new set of wires on and measure them correctly this time that's pretty much why we're not finishing this build tonight
[00:20:25] because I'm just kind of demoralized by doing that wrong at the moment because that was a mistake that's going to cost me like an hour that that I know it doesn't seem like much but getting all
[00:20:38] of that liquid electric tape off is going to take forever I've done it before it's super annoying so I made that mistake yesterday and I just kind of sat here like really really you you cut the wires too
[00:20:59] short you jackass but that's life I'm still super annoyed at myself but that's how it goes sometimes sometimes you and I measured twice man I measured
[00:21:19] twice I really did I just I just didn't I didn't realize how I didn't realize how much of a run the the wires go across the board and then they go down I didn't realize how
[00:21:33] far they would have to go down I I just didn't I just I I [@$#%] up we've also got six sets of Motors my friends this is going to hook up the the giveaways for a while we've got three sets of the
[00:21:54] 072 32,500 KV screamers and then we've got three sets of the 0702 40,000 KV skirts again super super super generous man thank you zotech very very very cool of you gangly gangers show
[00:22:12] your love to Weeble get over there and buy something use my affiliate link it's over on seat fv.com and show some love because you might be winning these in some
[00:22:24] upcoming giveaways I have I have two sets of screamers and I have two sets of the 40,000 KV Motors they're prototypes but the nothing changed between the Prototype and the main
[00:22:39] version so I don't need any of those so they go to you beautiful bastards so show some love next time you need a tiny whoop order check out need to do a tiny whoop order check out
[00:22:50] Weeble see if they've got what you want use my affiliate link if you don't mind over on cfp.net I don't really like I I I I have to monetize these videos because
[00:23:04] otherwise YouTube like doesn't put them anywhere but YouTube doesn't pay anything they they pay like a tenth of a penny per view for me it's about watch hours it's not about
[00:23:17] individual views like I want people that are going to hang out here and learn with me I don't want just a million people to click on it and just I I don't care about numbers I don't
[00:23:27] care about the number of subscribers don't care about the number of views a video gets I care about how much information that I can impart to you beautiful bastards so that you can build
[00:23:35] your stuff better and we can bounce ideas off of each other and whatnot so this is a completely crowdfunded thing that we do here over on SE
[00:23:53] fpv.one monthly giveaways that we do by jumping up to the $5 a month tier there's also a 10 20 30 and sky's the limit really so whatever you got whatever you think is fair whatever I've
[00:24:05] earned Hoka brother up jump over to patreon there's a ton of benefits a bunch of tech articles over there on the patreon page you can use the tags to kind of organize those there's a
[00:24:17] YouTube playlist you're going to get access to with some patreon only like edits and unreleased footage and sketchy flying and all kinds of weird [@$#%] there's a couple of Facebook groups that
[00:24:27] I don't really do much in because Facebook can go to hell and then you're going to get full access to the Discord where you can hang out with all these beautiful people that are over in
[00:24:37] the chat all the time it's totally worth it 10 cents a day like I said to do the general admission tier it would mean an awful lot to me if you jumped on there because that literally Keeps
[00:24:47] the Lights On In Here keeps the food in this family's mouths keeps the Shaggy Dog as Shaggy as possible there's a bunch of other ways that you can support me there's affiliate links which don't
[00:24:58] cost you anything change your bookmarks to the affiliate links change your URL bar suggestion to my affiliate links if you're like me and when you go to Amazon you just type AMA into the
[00:25:09] into the URL bar and it's autofills amazon.com you can remove that suggestion so do that and then remove all of your current Amazon suggestions and then hit my Amazon affiliate link a
[00:25:21] couple of times in a row and then from then on when you type AMA for Amazon it'll think you want to go to my affiliate link and you don't even have to think think about it every single
[00:25:29] time you go it's dumping that affiliate code in there and away we go together free money friends there's an Etsy store with some fun stuff that you can buy like some stickers there's a
[00:25:39] Teespring store with some really fun shirts and other random stuff and then there's a Fiverr page where you can work one-on-one with me or you can just message me Fiverr takes like 133% it's
[00:25:49] no big deal but if you want me to get the extra 13% just message me we'll schedule a one-on-one session I've been doing this for over eight years paying a lot of attention to the technical side
[00:25:58] of it so there aren't many questions that you can ask me that I don't have the answers to I'm more than willing to and have been for three years putting all of the information that I've got
[00:26:08] here under the live streams I don't gatekeep anything I don't like save the good info for the one-on-one sessions it's just that in order for you to get all of the answers to all of your
[00:26:18] questions from these live streams it's going to take you a lot a lot of time to S sort through them click through a ton of time codes watch and watch and watch and watch if you want to get all
[00:26:28] those answers at once in a half an hour an hour long session I can do that for you or I can drive the session if that you want to fly better I can drive you through a bunch of drills
[00:26:40] in the simulator if that you want to build better and stop buying components that catch on fire I can walk you through a build I have a whole bunch of questions that I ask you and that
[00:26:49] allows me to dial in on the perfect build for you and then I can walk you down the path here's the best frame that doesn't suck here's the best ESC that doesn't catch on fire here's the best
[00:26:57] flight controller that actually survives more than two crashes bang bang bangang bangang away we go or if you want to learn to tune I can teach you to tune by ear and through feel I do not tune
[00:27:09] through blackbox I tune by watching what the quad is doing listening to what the quad is doing touching the motors to see how hot they are after you fly it around it's a very effective tuning
[00:27:20] method that will get your tune to like 90 to 95% perfect that's where I prefer Tunes to be anyway I don't like tunes that are at like 99% because then damn near every time you bend a propeller the
[00:27:34] tune becomes overactive and the damn thing tries to fly away and that's super annoying so I I like to leave Tunes backed off anyway so that you can crash the rig Hard fly it hard and get
[00:27:44] the thing home bend the propellers back and Away you go so that's how you help me help you my friends what's that Goodwill Hunting good Lord Eva FPV is in the chat how the hell are you crom
[00:27:57] was first hockey rounds was next Cisco FPV Frank Nicholas hockey rounds Bob Bruce Striker Northern Tier hypnos Smoking Dog Kujo Northern Tier again Striker again crom again MC mucas Walter
[00:28:10] Ram dco kilo zebra Michael K hockey rounds again Bergeron County FPV rocket Tech Michael K we'll leave it there William Lo thanks for coming friends if you want to talk directly to me all you got to do is
[00:28:33] type CiottiFPV you can do that with each other if you type someone's name into your message and you spell it correctly and you put the spaces in the right spots for that person their name will
[00:28:42] light up an orange and they'll know that you're talking to them so if you want to get somebody's attention just type just type their name if you're on desktop type an at and then when you start
[00:28:50] typing their name it'll prepopulate it Northern Tier says happy Friday gang cfpv crom says Mr ciotti FPV just built your WalkSnail 65mm build any chance you could share a quick C diff
[00:29:05] of yours with the 40,000 KV Motors I'd love to have a good Bas pit tune no I don't share diffs because I do all kinds of weird [@$#%] in the diffs that you don't necessarily want 40,000 KV
[00:29:22] Motors are so powerful that on a stone stock pit tune that thing is going to fly amazing if it's not good enough all you need to do is take the master multiplier and move it from 1.0 up to 1.2 that's
[00:29:37] the super easy button if you want to get a little bit more in detail and you can handle two sliders instead of just one you're going to take the very first slider the d-gain slider and you're
[00:29:47] going to move that from 1.0 to 1.2 fly it make sure everything is cool if it's still not enough you move it from 1.2 to 1.4 and then you take the second SL slider the P Andi gain slider and you
[00:30:00] move that up to 1.2 that's the really the ideal ratio in my opinion is2 extra on Dain versus p&i gain and if that's still not enough you do the same thing again and do the same thing again I
[00:30:14] would rather in the last 60 seconds explain to you guys how to tune cuz it's hysterically easy than to drop some diff on you that could have something buried in it that makes your [@$#%] catch un fire
[00:30:28] fire or explode or fly to the moon and you lose it forever right like I'm here to teach you guys not to just make it easy for you and just give you everything like it makes much more sense
[00:30:40] especially with stuff that's super simple for me to teach you guys rather than just to give you what you actually really want because learning how to do it even though you don't realize it yet
[00:30:51] learning how to do it is what you actually want like someday you'll you'll kind of understand that and again tuning is just so so so simple and that is like 99% of my of the
[00:31:06] stuff in my tune that actually makes a difference I have stuff like buried in the in the the CLI that like like pushing the pids some up that that can potentially like blow esc's up if you're
[00:31:20] not gentle on Turtle mode for example although I guess I guess pitum doesn't no not during turtle mod but just during regular flying PID some can ask for more power and it doesn't
[00:31:34] necessarily do anything to the flight performance I have my crash recovery settings in there which might not work for you crash recovery you really have to dial in for you're flying
[00:31:44] what you crash into what your rates are so I don't want you guys having my crash recovery settings cuz they might not work well for you and then there's different versions of flight
[00:31:56] controllers and so with even with like the same flight controller this actually just happened with some BetaFPV prototype stuff I they they sent me two rigs that are
[00:32:10] on different KV Motors and I just assumed that the aios were exactly the same and I did a diff from one to the other and it completely broke the the second rig that they sent because
[00:32:21] there were slight differences buried in the CLI so there's all kinds of stuff can H that can happen which which is why I never recommend that you do diffs or dumps from one rig to
[00:32:32] another the only time that you really want to do those is from the same exact rig like you're you're you're about to update your your firmware that's a perfect time to copy and paste your diff
[00:32:45] out of the CLI or in the presets tab there's a button to like save something or other and then you have it and if you if you do the firmware update and there's something that you don't like
[00:32:59] you can back date dump that diff onto there and you're exactly where you where you first began taking a diff from one AIO and putting it on to another AIO always has risk even if they're the same
[00:33:11] a these manufacturers do a terrible job letting us know when they change stuff like and there's all kinds of situations where there's like a version two of the board and then there's like a
[00:33:26] version 2.1 of the board and there's no documentation there's no information whatsoever they just make the change and start sending it out and you have no idea what you're getting there are more
[00:33:37] than one board that are that's out there that has had this situation maybe it's just the gyro changing but that's a big deal in most cases though it's more than just the gyro changing it's all
[00:33:50] kinds of [@$#%] that's buried in there resources that are changing you the resources change you do a diff from one to the other and now all of a sudden there's a motor that won't spin
[00:33:59] up at all and good luck finding it like dive having to dive into the into the motor resource and reassign that stuff is something that we haven't had to do in many years which has been great
[00:34:13] because it's a total pain in the ass so it is very very very rare it's not just you crom it's I I just I don't do it's just it's unsafe for me to do it and I don't want to be the reason
[00:34:26] that you blow your [@$#%] up if there's a really good reason for it like if you updated a board and you you didn't save the diff and you need to back date it or something and you can't
[00:34:41] find like the the diff or the dump and for some specific reason you absolutely need it I'll do it for you but for for tuning it's not a good idea it's so easy to tune now that you you you
[00:34:57] don't want to do that so all of this to say don't use other people's diffs it's just it's not a good idea tuning is simple filter tuning is is pretty basic as well I stream for 10 hours a
[00:35:12] week come on to the chat ask me the questions that you've got and we'll spec we'll move the sliders around which is a thousand times safer to get you dialed in cool friends this is not me picking
[00:35:22] on you crme this is a very common question and this is a beautiful opportunity to kind of talk about that cuz that's really really important it is a very common thing for people to
[00:35:33] grab somebody else's diff or some random preset and have their [@$#%] either fly worse or blow up and that sucks and I don't want be I I refuse to be the reason that that happens and I like
[00:35:48] to take it a step further and explain that whole sort of situation because how would otherwise right Striker says I wanted to whoop so bad but some sometimes things just don't work
[00:35:58] out I send video and pictures to rdq support maybe I can get it replaced within the next week I hope so it sucks Striker Striker dealing with a tiny whoop that came and it was
[00:36:10] acting a little bit funny right out of the box and then after a couple of batteries it stopped work I think there's a motor twitching or something it's not flyable anymore and in the
[00:36:20] early on in the chat tonight he was saying like oh I'm trying a bunch of things to fix it and I said stop stop trying to fix it like if out of the box it flew and you didn't change anything
[00:36:31] in BetaFlight and now all of a sudden it's not flying it's done like there's nothing that you're going to change in BetaFlight that's going to bring it back to life if by some miracle you do
[00:36:41] bring it back to life you're going to have to [@$#%] its flight performance right like if you're flying a rig and then all of a sudden it stops working or it stops flying right it has nothing to
[00:36:54] do with BetaFlight like the ones and zeros didn't fall out they're they're secured in there they they they they they have double locking locks to lock all the ones and
[00:37:07] zeros in it's a mechanical problem at that point and so I mean like if it's not a brand new rig right if you got a 100 batteries into it you can't send it back so sure replace a motor
[00:37:20] replace a propeller replace the AIO whatever but if it's a brand new rig stop Flying it stop screwing around with it contact whoever you bought it from and say you need to take this back
[00:37:30] and send me one that works for more than two batteries it's we we collectively like have Stockholm syndrome with these things and we think that like everything's our fault and it
[00:37:40] like it's our responsibility to and it's our fault that these things Break and maybe it is right like maybe crom piled it into a tree at Absolute Full Tilt and it's
[00:37:56] and it is kind of his fault but that's for you guys to decide I mean first of all these things should be able to take some some some abuse but I mean if you've only put a couple of batteries
[00:38:08] through it's your decision to make whether or not you contact who you bought it from and say like I don't know what happened I just flew a couple of batteries and now it's not working or
[00:38:21] hey I smacked this into a tree is it still okay for us to swap this out I think it should take a couple more hits than that that's on you I I don't care what you guys do but don't
[00:38:33] think that that you're going to be able to fix a mechanical problem in BetaFlight all you're going to do in BetaFlight is make the thing thing fly like [@$#%] because you've got a bent motor or
[00:38:45] a bent prop or a cracked frame or a gyro that's failing and that's silly if if you can get a fresh one that works for more than a couple of batteries that's what you want to do and
[00:38:56] unfortunately with tiny whoops the lack of quality control forces us to have to do this right it's just a given that when you get a tiny whoop component let's just say bind and fly
[00:39:11] an AO the motors have been very reliable out of the box the frames have been very reliable the propellers have been very reliable so we're really just talking about BNF's and
[00:39:23] AOS what we're talking about is the aios the quality control on all of the aios being sold right now is dog [@$#%] previously we had the Mobula 6 2g4 which was staggeringly good but every once in
[00:39:40] a while there still would be one that would come out of the box bad but at the moment without that AIO every single tiny whoop AO that's out there there's a really decent chance that right out of
[00:39:53] the box or within two or three or four or five batteries it's going to [@$#%] the bed which is incredibly frustrating but it's kind of our fault like we demand that tiny whoop stuff be cheaper than
[00:40:08] everything else in the hobby but it's got the same components right like a tiny whoop AIO has all the same stuff as this right it's got a VTX it's got a receiver it's got a gyro it's got an ESC it's got fets
[00:40:25] It's got all the same [@$#%] it's got a becc but it's just shrunken down and what what's like really funny is when you shrink stuff down typically it becomes more expensive right look at
[00:40:36] iPhones look at look at iPads but for us we demand that it be cheaper so what's the manufacturer going to do the first thing that's going to go is quality control
[00:40:50] right so they they they come off the line and instead of paying someone to sit there and plug them in and maybe put motors on them and maybe spin the motors up that's the first thing that goes and
[00:41:00] it's like well [@$#%] we we have to make this Le less expensive to compete with the other manufacturers so [@$#%] it no quality control whatsoever we'll deal with it after the fact which is an
[00:41:11] interesting way to do it but what do I know I I don't know about what manufacturing CL it's seems insane to me that it would be cheaper to do that right it seems nuts that it
[00:41:24] would be cheaper to just send a shitload of them out and then as they blow up refund the the the the retailers but I don't know you you I would think that it would be
[00:41:37] cheaper to pay somebody to sit there and QC them so that they don't go out but who knows who knows how that all works Striker also says I was goingon to and I was going to whoop with the boys
[00:41:53] at church on Sunday shake my head welcome to FPV my friend it is filled with disappointment he but it's FPV is is highs and lows the lows are low but the highs are also high so the the
[00:42:08] disappointment will be followed by you eventually getting a rig that works and it'll be amazing so this is just going to make it that much more amazing because you're having to work for it man
[00:42:17] everything that you have to work for feels more satisfying in the end that's what she said kilo zebra says I think the brass has better thermal conductivity because of the copper in
[00:42:27] the brass alloy oh wait sorry we already read this good good good good county FPV says I've had the IAL 27,000 KB Motors on my Mobula 7 for a while and notice they have a wiggle when I put my
[00:42:39] finger on the shaft that's what she said and they get really hot does that mean they're toast or just old so you've got your motor Bell and then you've got the motor shaft one of the
[00:42:50] ways that I show you guys how to see if you've bent the motor shaft is to put them into BetaFlight and spin the Motors up really slowly in the motor's Tab and then so the motor shaft is now
[00:43:01] spinning and then you take your fingernail and you put your fingernail right next to the motor shaft you could probably do it with the pad of your finger but your fingernail it's super
[00:43:10] obvious right so you put your fingernail there the motor is spinning if the motor shaft is Not Bent you'll put your fingernail there and it'll be pretty smooth if the motor shaft is bent it'll
[00:43:21] right it's spinning around so it'll hit hit hit hit hit your fingernail and so and you've got four Motors on your rig and usually you beat up the front Motors worse than the rear Motors right
[00:43:32] like the next question is always well like how do I know how much is too how do I know how much wobbling is too much wobbling I know because I've done this a million times and you will get a feel
[00:43:43] for this as you do it more and more and more but for right now you've got at least four Motors that you can check it on we fly these things forward so the forward Motors hit more often so your
[00:43:55] forward Motors should be worse than the rears so that's a good way for you to start to gauge how much is too much whenever you get fresh motors do it do that test so that you can see what the
[00:44:09] absolute minimum is these these motors are not manufactured perfect there's always going to be ever so slightly of a vibration that you can feel with your fingernail as you spin that nice and
[00:44:20] slow and so you you got to get like your own sort of barometer for that but for you County do that test pull all four props off do that test with all four Motors there should at least be one
[00:44:35] motor that's not totally hammered ass and then hopefully you'll get to see which other Motors are demolished if all four Motors are roughly the I mean it like a fresh motor is pretty smooth like
[00:44:49] it's barely hits your fingernail if all four Motors you're just going to have to use your judgment I mean it's here's the other side of it eventually you're going to kill those
[00:45:03] Motors so just order another set you're going to need another set at some point anyway so just order another set and then put one of them on and then you'll have a fresh motor to do the test with
[00:45:15] right they're great Motors too so there's like nothing wrong with just snagging an extra set so that's what I can tell you it's hard to kind of figure it out and there is
[00:45:28] a chance that all four of your Motors are bent to hell but there should at least be one that's a little bit less bent and then you'll go to the next one and so usually I'll do like motor 1
[00:45:39] 2 3 4 so usually motor 1 is pretty is pretty good so you'll do that test on motor one you'll be like okay and then you'll go to motor 2 and you'll be like holy [@$#%] okay and then you'll go to
[00:45:49] motor 3 and you'll be like oh that's similar to motor 1 and then you'll go to motor 4 and you'll be like oh my God and there you go now that two of your Motors are are banged up the 1
[00:45:58] and half mm motor shafts are very strong but 75mm rigs are heavy as hell and when you start flying these things outside you start crashing them really hard so like the the 1 and a
[00:46:12] half mil shafts in my opinion are a total necessity for any 75mm rig and any rig that you're going to fly outside but they're not indestructible right so you can absolutely bang them up
[00:46:28] you've probably got a motor Shaft or two or three that are that are banged up and snagging another set of those Motors there's nothing wrong with that you'll you'll use them at some point
[00:46:39] you'll you'll blow up those Motors if they're not currently blown up at some point and then you'll have the extras and Away you go Swan dog gujo says do you fly with squint FPV I saw one of his
[00:46:48] Atlant Atlant videos for the first time I have been for a long time I was I I've been flying with Squints for many years not super often he's Ultra active in the the 5-in
[00:47:01] freestyle scene I think he's been flying for four maybe five years so I was like I was kind of getting out of I I was getting burned out on 5in freestyle when he was kind of coming into the
[00:47:20] hobby and it was just so cool for for somebody to come in so strong and just like push 5in freestyle in Atlanta really hard and it felt really good because like at that point the the OG
[00:47:33] guys right like Kevin steel skitso was like fully giving up wild Willie was moving to Australia it was there was like this little tiny period where like I was one of the main guys like pushing 5in
[00:47:49] freestyle here in Atlanta and like when I when I started to like do gig work and just just get a little bit burned out on on flying 5-in Rigs and parking lots it felt
[00:48:03] like well [@$#%] who's going to like who's going to keep this alive and there there there were a couple of people at the time but like there weren't people that were doing edits really and like
[00:48:15] pushing that and so when squint started flying and started to really get good it was like awesome awesome Atlanta freestyle foreverand he's been just absolutely killing since then
[00:48:27] and he really holds the torch at this point for for 5 in freestyle here in Atlanta and just it's great really really really nice guy too Bob Bruce
[00:48:43] says I thought what I thought you was having the chip up I changed my mind I changed my mind on how I want to mount the the VTX having the the UFL be in between the two boards it just
[00:48:58] bugged me too much I I just I don't want that so I I changed my mind and now I'm going to mount it the way that I mount all the other ones cbfv says I keep breaking my
[00:49:09] camera plug off my flight controller in crashes any advice I'm going to assume that this is a tiny whoop I guess you need to you need to have some slack on that cable
[00:49:25] you you need to look at your build and figure out how the hell is that happening like how I don't know anything about the rig but somehow during crashes the camera is moving enough to do that
[00:49:37] and so you either need to figure out how to keep the camera from moving in crashes or get some extra slack on the wires so that the wires aren't pulling on the on the on the
[00:49:51] plug right so that's like a mechanical thing that you need to like sort of engineer your way around basically I don't know anything about the I don't even know if it's hiny whoop
[00:50:01] but you need to just kind of take a look at that try to figure out like where the energy is kind of coming in during the crashes what is flexing what is like how the hell is that
[00:50:11] getting pulled on hard enough to break it off it should be fairly obvious because like they're those plugs are on there pretty good so there there has to be like something
[00:50:22] that's really flexing hard in order to yank hard enough on those to break them off so it's maybe change your canopy maybe change your frame I don't I I don't have any info to go
[00:50:35] off of but that's what you're gonna have to do Jun Loo's in the house what's up homie says f up 2 accidentally plugged my whoop oh into reverse polarity that sucks
[00:50:46] man that we've all been there the the BT 2.0 plugs if you really push hard on them you can plug them in backwards that that's one one of my only complaints I believe that's why on
[00:51:00] the a30 connector they put that little slot in there they could have also put it on there so that they don't get sued by by BetaFPV but that slot in the a30 connector does make plugging it
[00:51:13] in reverse polarity pretty much impossible so I I wish that I hope that someday there's an a30 plug an an a30 180° plug because I would love the plug to be black I would love the
[00:51:26] the wires to be red and black instead of blue and white and I would love to have that little slot in there to prevent it although none of the batteries none of the batteries have the
[00:51:39] slot in them so I guess it kind of doesn't matter but I I I mean I guess I would love at some point if there was a 180° a30 plug and that all the batteries changed over to a30 because that would
[00:51:53] prevent the reverse polarity thing but that never going to happen realistically Bob Bruce says I thought that you decided to mount the WalkSnail board chips Side Up in
[00:52:05] which case your wires would be long enough I mean and I could I guess I could still I guess I could still technically do that but like I decided against that you
[00:52:22] know what I mean like the wires are long enough to do that so I mean I I could could I could change my mind again and go back to this mounting but I just it's really bothers
[00:52:40] me to have the UFL in between these boards right because then anytime I need to change the antenna but the flip side is how often do you really need to change the antenna right
[00:52:54] oh here's the main reason here's the main reason I changed my mind I remember now I remember now look where the UFL is sitting this going to be tough look where
[00:53:19] that look where that UFL is going to sit right there's going to be a UFL antenna plugged in and look where that going to be so if I manage to hit the if if I take like a this thing hits just
[00:53:34] wrong that UFL is going to bridge that motor and that's going to be bad bad that was the main reason that I decided against it sure I could like paint something on the top I guess I
[00:53:51] could like conformal coat the top of the antenna you the UFL and the antenna but like that's just creepy man and that UFL plug is going to be tall and it just that that [@$#%]
[00:54:10] just creeps me out I don't know what I'm gonna do to be honest I don't know what I'm going to do here I I don't know if I'm gonna I really don't want to have to dig all of this I really wish that walks
[00:54:25] snail didn't use the liid electric tape on these on these wires it's very very annoying to get off and you have to get it all off because it's like rubber and it's not conductive and it's
[00:54:40] it just sucks and you got to get it all out of there and you're like [@$#%] scraping at it and you're scraping the top off of the PCB and it's
[00:54:49] just it's just gross Northern Tier says just use your link the other day I didn't forget for one thank you dude I I will never blame you guys for forgetting because I forget all the time atch is in
[00:55:01] the house what's up homie he says I would love to fly better one day [@$#%] you atch is an amazing pilot rocket Tech says not tuning via blackbox have you ever looked at the
[00:55:16] results of a Ciotti tune in blackbox all the time whenever I ask for Brandon's make beans to help me out with tuning we we get to see like where my Tunes are at and they're always like
[00:55:28] damn near they're always at that like 90% Mark there's almost always like a little thing here or there that that Brandon can improve on but it's always really really close tuning is is
[00:55:43] mainly P and D the filtering is so good that like and I have enough knowledge of how the filtering Works where I can get it pretty damn close and then I mean pit tuning you can
[00:55:55] really get super close monitoring motor heat look looking at it through the goggles looking for the bounce back if you want to get super nerdy put a GoPro on there at 60 frames or 120
[00:56:08] frames and then watch your footage back you can see smaller bounce backs when you slow them down 50% or 25% and then listening you can hear oscillations and there's certain
[00:56:21] there's certain things that you can do on the sticks that we talk about all the time with tiny oops that bring out the oscillations earlier than them coming out all the time namely when you
[00:56:33] chop the throttle when you come off the throttle really quickly if your tune is getting close to the edge you will hear a little bit of an oscillation and the motors will not come down in RPM as
[00:56:45] quickly as they normally would so there's just all these Clues to overactive tunes that are there that you don't really need blackbox for to see but you have to have been doing this
[00:57:00] long enough to like notice them and to know where to look for them or you have to watch a gangly bastard on the internet tell you all of those things and try to show you all of those things
[00:57:09] every time he flies a tiny [@$#%] but all that being said blackbox will always be a better way to tune I started to learn blackbox many many many years ago and I talked to a couple of
[00:57:27] people that don't that I was shocked didn't use it and I ended up kind of coming to the same conclusion as them which is basically that like I know myself and if I know how to
[00:57:40] blackbox tune I'm going to spend a lot of time blackbox tuning and I'm going to I'm obsess over it and it's going to be like a constant thing that I think about and in terms of getting better
[00:57:52] flight footage blackbox tuning is not the way to do that flying is the way to do that and having that like oh I got to change the tune I got to change the tune I got to change the tune I got to
[00:58:03] look at a log I got to make a log in the back of your mind that takes you out of I'm G to fly around this I'm just going to concentrate on flying right and over years and years and years
[00:58:18] that amount of time that I would spend again just knowing myself and just knowing that I'm an obsessive lunatic it's just it's for me to not know how to blackbox tune actually helps me focus on
[00:58:32] things that that are going to allow me to be a better pilot and one of the things that I've learned doing FPV full-time is that it's all time management with with FPV you
[00:58:47] got to know how to be social media marketer you got to know how to be a video editor you got to know how to be a pilot you got to know how to be a sooner you right like there's there's like
[00:59:00] 20 things that you have to be an engineer there's all these things that you need to learn to get good and so and how much time do you have right like we're all limited on time and
[00:59:14] so it's super important in my opinion to figure the things out that you love the most and focus on those things some people at like the their most favorite thing in FPV is blackbox logging and
[00:59:28] tuning and there's nothing wrong with that but that's not me I I don't enjoy that process I enjoy flying I enjoy to some extent editing and when I started to get into the blackbox stuff I
[00:59:42] just I was like ah this is not this is not going to be good for me to dive into this because I'm going to become obsessed with it and I'm not going to be able to Let It Go and so no but
[00:59:56] nothing wrong with learning the blackbox tune and get good at it there's loads of resources out there Brandon's baked beans charges a dollar minute a dollar a minute to blackbox tune for you he'll
[01:00:07] probably spend some of that time explaining to you what he's doing which is a great way to learn there's a bunch of content here on YouTube how to dive into it the pit toolbox is a
[01:00:19] great resource he's got some really good stuff here on YouTube you can absolutely learn if you're willing to spend 10 15 20 hours let's say you can get pretty damn good at blackbox
[01:00:32] tuning and then most rigs have it that was kind of one of the other reasons I didn't learn back then back then there weren't many rigs that had the the chip on board to actually do
[01:00:45] blackbox stuff so it was like well I've got one rig where I can actually log on what the hell's the point and it's way better now but still the the tiny whoops that I fly
[01:00:57] don't have black box and to put the logger onto a tiny whoop the logger is like 1 point something grams which is going to change the way this thing flies so and where the hell are you
[01:01:11] going to put the logger it's hard to find a spot for it so there's still situations where it's like yes I'm glad that I didn't learn it to and there are situations where it's like [@$#%] and
[01:01:21] and Brandon when when I send stuff to Brandon's baked beans he does take time because he's an awesome dude to like every once in a while to explain to me like here's how I figured this out you
[01:01:30] look at this and this and if I'm in a pinch I can absolutely take a log and I can figure some stuff out but like he is just a thousand steps Beyond and he can figure stuff out really
[01:01:43] quick that I would never have seen and he hasn't told me to [@$#%] off yet when I've been like man can you help me again please so JB engineering tagged me but he
[01:01:58] didn't say anything maybe YouTube deleted your the rest of what you said try it again JB JB engineering if you posted a link you can't do that YouTube doesn't let you post links tell me
[01:02:11] what to search for on wherever the link was too and I can do that skty Curtis says senior whoop goat how the heck are you I'm good brother how about you James Thomas says so the wasps
[01:02:23] have too much power what are the run times like what rig would be good for them prop thoughts I like power for me the wasps have too much power yes they are actually still for sale I
[01:02:35] keep forgetting to mention that I've got five I've got one absolutely Brand New 22.6 by 6.5 1860 KV wasps and then I've got four of them that have short motor wires so you're going to
[01:02:51] have to put them on race wires or race wire LEDs and they have either two or three batteries on them I think three batteries on them at Rampage two of them have tiny little marks where like rocks
[01:03:05] hit them the other two are completely perfect they all spin completely clean so for all intents and purposes they're brand new five brand new wasps I'll sell them for like 20% less than
[01:03:18] whatever the hell they are new you'll basically get the fifth motor for free phenomenal Motors my 5 in rigs are all extremely lightweight between 605 and 590 gram all up and so I don't
[01:03:37] need motors with a ton of power I also don't like how much power most 5-in rigs have the the less power you have the more throttle resolution yes you can get throttle resolution from Expo but
[01:03:54] 5-inch freestyle rigs are a great example of a rig that you don't necessarily want to run much if any Expo on because these rigs go really fast and they go really slow tiny whoops you're
[01:04:11] mainly flying them in the house and you're not going to be able to go really fast in the house these things you're going to fly them in a big ass location you're going to fly them in a small
[01:04:21] location you're going to there's a just super Dynamic to use a an incredibly cringy corporate jargon annoying word they're super super Dynamic you can go very fast
[01:04:36] you can go very slow and so throttle Expo is not necessarily a great idea because you go to a big ass location and you're flying nose down really fast the whole time so now you set your throttle
[01:04:49] Expo for the amount of throttle that this cruising speed has well then you go around the corner to your local little testing spot and you fly much slower cuz it's a much smaller spot well now your
[01:05:01] throttle Expo is [@$#%] because you're flying around at this speed and you're and it's going to make your throttle resolution worse right so 5 in rigs what I've found for me personally I like
[01:05:13] having less power than most people also what I've noticed is with a big Power 5in rig when I go Full Throttle it fires up into the clouds which is very fun but it's not necessarily like going to
[01:05:28] produce the best footage the the best footage comes from when you're down near the ground in proximity to objects so I prefer 5-in rigs that have less power than most so for me the WASP Motors
[01:05:41] are just not the best fit if you've got a 5-in rig that's like 700 750 800 gram these motors are awesome they're some of the lightest Motors that will make enough power for those those heavier
[01:05:56] rigs to just absolutely blast and they're they're really really fun you can run any props on them 4.9 5 in 5.1 even 5.2 you could pretty much run any pitch on them as well so whatever
[01:06:09] propellers you love are going to be totally fine on those Motors they are great Motors they just have too much power for me and they're I if if they weren't 30 gram of
[01:06:21] motor if they were like 28 gram of motor I would actually switch from the F40 Pro 4S to them but they're not they're 30 gram of motor which is light for what they are but it's
[01:06:33] not as light as these motors or as the 23052 aax Motors and weight on the ends of the arms is really important so folks with like 700 750 800 gram rigs those wasp Motors are probably about as good
[01:06:49] as it's going to get because they're the lightest they're some of the lightest Motors that make tons of power the other motor I would be looking at are the 533 27s these again very very
[01:07:00] light motor but they make Mega Power cuz that's what 27s do so for folks with heavier than what I've got 5-in rigs I think the Wasps are some of if not the best
[01:07:14] Motors crom says love the tune technique that's indeed better than a diff I've tuned bigger quads but without a blackbox in Brandon's time I was a bit lost tuning doesn't
[01:07:25] have to be super difficult the stock BetaFlight tune nowadays in like 4.3 4.4 4.5 is phenomenal and you could make a really good argument for actually not tuning and leaving the stock tune on
[01:07:40] there and it gives you a ton of head room you can beat the [@$#%] out of that rig and it'll just keep going and going and going and going and going that's something that most people don't really
[01:07:48] think about with Tunes like as soon as you start making a tune more aggressive you give yourself less headro and you make the tune more fragile sorry you make the rig more fragile so it
[01:08:01] it all depends on what you sort of want c will says I asked about one of my HappyModel aios dying about a week ago no arm no OSD I reflashed BetaFlight today and it works I tried that
[01:08:13] immediately before but nothing bullet dodged LOL that is weird so you reflashed it and it didn't help and then you reflashed it again and now it's fine that's super weird that sounds like
[01:08:30] the unique to FPV thing where you work on something for like four hours in a row and it's refuses to work and then you just go to sleep and you come back the next day and plug it in and for
[01:08:46] absolutely no reason it magically works again that's what that reminds me a lot of which is just I've had it happen to me three times over the years makes no sense whatsoever but all
[01:09:06] is well that ends well I guess I hate it I hate that Electronics should not work the only thing I can think of seawell is it is on HappyModel stuff on certain
[01:09:24] HappyModel stuff man I haven't run into this in a long time but I'm pretty sure it was HappyModel stuff every the certain aios if you ran the battery really far down if if you ran the
[01:09:37] battery like all the way down to I want to say like 2.8 volts or something like way lower than you should ever run it down it would erase [@$#%] from from BetaFlight and you would have to
[01:09:51] reinstall BetaFlight that hasn't happened in a long time and it's pretty rare right that you run a battery down that low and it was only like one or two I actually don't remember
[01:10:02] which aios did that the 2g4 might have been one of the AOS that did that though but again it's just such a rare thing that it hasn't happened in a long time and to be honest I kind of forgot about
[01:10:13] it until just now and just sitting here like how the hell could that have possibly happened so do you remember running a battery down really really really low I've actually never
[01:10:25] had it happen to me but it is it's happened to so many people that like I believe it right and enough people of it's a thing so don't run your batteries Down super super
[01:10:40] super low on that rig and maybe that won't happen again hopefully it won't happen again cuz man isn't annoying when [@$#%] just when Electronics just for no reason stop working it just doesn't make
[01:10:53] sense the ones and zeros are supposed to be secure in there that that that is a situation where the ones and zeros kind of escaped the the the the battery voltage is very the the the
[01:11:07] locks the locks that have been placed on the ones and zeros rely on on a certain amount of battery voltage and if you run them at a to low of a voltage those those locks can
[01:11:23] unlock for some reason YouTube always recommends the lockpicking lawyer which is a channel I might even be subscribed to it for some weird reason and that's where this
[01:11:38] weird joke that I've come up with is coming from EV FPV says what's up it's been way too long how you been what's new what's happening JB engineering says do you think BL 232
[01:11:47] will open up to open source I don't think so because of the weird like we're shutting down partially to try to stop bad people from flying FPV drones into war zones right so I don't
[01:12:08] think that they will I I think BL hly 32 is is going to stay I I obviously hope that they do but I have a weird feeling that they won't I have a weird feeling that like whatever version you're on
[01:12:19] you're on we go over to am32 I mean look like there haven't really been many improvements in the newer versions of Bei 32 and I've actually never heard of anyone running into the
[01:12:36] the bug in 32.9 that causes like motor 1 to spin up as soon as you plug a battery in so whatever version of BL 32 you're currently on is probably fine forever and again they haven't really been
[01:12:53] adding any performance related stuff to it in years so and the configurator still works you can still go and change your pwm frequency you can still go and you
[01:13:06] know change motor Direction Change ramp up all that [@$#%] so it's annoying sure but like if you buy a new ESC and it has BL 32 on it's going to be on like 32.8 at the
[01:13:24] latest or 32.9 or the newest 3210 and there's really no performance difference between those three versions so it just doesn't really matter what I mean and they haven't
[01:13:37] been making updates to it so it's not like oh well I wish that we I wish that we would have gotten future updates like no they haven't made updates they haven't increased the performance in a
[01:13:47] while like if you want better performance than BL 32 you have you've you've had to go to am 32 like that's been it's been for the last year or two so them shutting down
[01:14:01] doesn't actually like it sucks don't get me wrong but like if I take a step back and I look at it realistically it's kind of like doesn't matter so hopefully that makes you feel better
[01:14:15] about it I I I I there's nothing we can do about it so why freak out I madtech is freaking out about it because hopefully that will get them to open source it but I
[01:14:33] don't know I don't know I I I I would also love that love if what they've done here reduces the number of 5in rigs or 7in rigs hurdling mortars into war zones so but like I don't really
[01:14:53] think it is right like they're just going to they're going to get around it I don't know the whole situation is very weird very very weird dingles says what's up what's the all
[01:15:07] up weight of your Glide build so this is the heavier one I actually don't know what this one weighs so this is the only digital Glide build that I've got that's not true it's the only
[01:15:21] digital freestyle Glide build that I have and I actually don't know what it weighs and I'm kind of curious so this has t-motor F40 Pro 4S so the analog version of this for example
[01:15:36] is 605 gram all up so we've got four propellers here and then I've got four motter nuts so 457 dry and then and this is the rline version one 6s 1050 that I run which is going to bring
[01:16:04] it up to oh man what a fat bastard this is oh my god look how fat the Vista makes it 625 Jesus I didn't realize that this thing was that heavy H kind of makes me want to move this
[01:16:29] over to those aax Motors to save some weight but the the aax motors on the lighter analog rigs make like the perfect amount of power so with this thing being a little bit heavier they might not make quite
[01:16:45] enough power so I'm not going to do that I'm going to leave this thing exactly as it is and it's just a little bit heavier digital rigs are heavier nothing's free in life you
[01:17:01] know so I mean 625 is still incredibly light All Things Considered so this is not me bitching it's just that I like to I try really hard to have as many of my builds have the same
[01:17:17] amount of like excuse me be the same all up weight and or have the same power to weight ratio with these motors these motors do make more power than those ax Motors so I'm probably there I probably
[01:17:35] have roughly the same power to weight ratio with this one versus the the one that's 590 Gram on the aax motors so I've kind of already done that but it if if I can ever match
[01:17:49] up the even if you've matched up the power to weight ratio the fact that the all up weight is heavier here is going to make this thing fly different for sure it's going to carry more momentum
[01:18:00] in the corners it's not you're going to have to push it harder to get it to stop sliding laterally so if possible evening up the all up weight is the best way to have two rigs feel
[01:18:12] exactly the same and perform exactly the same but sometimes you just can't do that because like so for example if those aax motors made a little bit more power I could do that on this and then just
[01:18:27] like I could just motor limit them down on the other rig and then that would bring the the all up weight a little bit more in line what I mean but that's not the case they are they are
[01:18:36] absolutely maxed out on that rig and it's just the right amount of power I think I I I need to fly it a little bit more I only have like three batteries through it but that
[01:18:46] will that will happen soon enough smoken dog Kujo says you're so kind you just took 10 minutes to say no I do that but I wrap it up in good knowledge county FPV says my 2g4 I
[01:19:02] mentioned last stream I got up and running today and put 33,000 KV on it no idea what I did different but it works sometimes it's man get used to that that'll happen before very
[01:19:14] long again buron says how do those tiny whoop AOS fail exactly more often than not it's yes C related like the fets just seem to die but man it's all over the place
[01:19:30] the Gyros let go they just stop powering on it's kind of all over the place I've purchased four whoops the only issue I have is the sub2 250 fly whoop 16 not because it was a weird
[01:19:45] Pusher but because it overheats so bad overheating is one of the ways that the aios just start to die for no reason it's a total mystery can young says crashed my Mobula 6 2024 had to
[01:19:57] replace the camera and canopy and now I have Jello change props tighten screws 90% sure it's not mechanical what to do with the tune to try to fix Jello thanks man never ever ever change your
[01:20:08] tune to fix Jello if you physically crash it and now you have Jello nothing in the tune is to blame right you've either bent a motor Shaft or
[01:20:25] the camera mounting is different it sounds like you've really dove into the camera mounting to make sure that that's not the problem what I can tell you about the Mobula 6 2024 is that mine have
[01:20:37] Jello a bunch of people in the chats also have Jello what I think is happening is so either one of two things has either happened you said you crashed it so and you didn't say that you've
[01:20:51] changed any of the motors so I I have a feeling that you in that crash you bent one of the motor shafts so do the test I was talking about earlier take the props off go into the
[01:21:01] motors tab spin the motors really slow in the motors tab take your fingernail put it next to the motor shaft and you'll feel if the motor is if the motor shaft is bent and vibrating as it
[01:21:13] goes around or not check all four Motors it you will not have bent all four so one of the motors will be clean and then if you feel one of the other Motors is vibrating there's your problem that's
[01:21:22] probably it if that's not it if all four of them are either the same or they're all spinning true you've just now flown it enough that you're noticing the jello on
[01:21:39] the I think it could be related to the frame on the WalkSnail 40,000 KV freestyle build I had it on the Mobula 6 2024 frame and it wasn't just it wasn't only Jello but it was
[01:21:57] oscillating and flying away at Full Throttle and when I changed to the Cockroach 65 V3 frame it got way better I still have some oscillations in the middle of the throttle though so it
[01:22:14] it could also be like electrical noise related I don't know yet it's not that bad but it's still there I still see it every once in a while where I really noticed it is that
[01:22:31] on this guy this is the my OG Mobula 6 2024 that we did all that crash testing with and I would notice the jello I put a fresh set of motors on here a fresh set of 0702 28000 and the jello is no
[01:22:49] better it's not super noticeable but every once in a while it is there and so and I just I've not flown this enough since then since I put the fresh Motors on it to Trace that
[01:23:04] down basically so there will be some more effort put into figuring that out in the future but at the moment it just seems like the Mobula 6 202 24s have a little bit of Jell-O in the
[01:23:16] mid throttle just kind of at random I wish I had a better answer for you but I haven't figured it out either county FPV says the shaft's Not Bent the whole Bell and shaft
[01:23:33] Wiggles there should be there should be a little bit of motion like you should be able to move the the motor and Bell up and down a little bit here just because they
[01:23:49] build a little bit of a tolerance into the to the they you don't want the C clip to be pushed up against the Stater of the motor so there should always be a little bit of up and down movement on
[01:24:00] the Bell it shouldn't really wiggle though if if when you say wiggle you mean like this there really should be no wiggle there should be a little bit of up and down movement like this but there
[01:24:16] should be no wiggle here The Stater does have metal bushings and so unlike bearings those are going to wear so if you have enough hard hits and enough time on those Motors they
[01:24:32] could have just worn down those those bearings a little bit now is a perfect time to lube your Motors since you think the motors might be dead anyway now is your perfect
[01:24:45] chance get some best case is to get some mountain bike or just BMX bike dry lube with a really fine tipped applicator point and then you can put that through the holes in the motor and
[01:25:00] just put that dry lube exactly between the motor shaft and the bushing and then flip it over and do the same on the bottom or you can just go to Tiny whoop they sell some whoop Lube
[01:25:14] your Motors are probably dead and so throw some lube in them maybe that'll get you 20 more batteries out of them awesome once you put lube into the motors though that the dry lube is going
[01:25:28] to be a little bit better with this but in general it's going to attract more dirt so I never recommend that you Lube the motors up when they're in good shape I always recommend it when they're
[01:25:38] pretty much dead and then you can get a little bit more life out of them and then they're going to get absolutely filthy and disgusting and then they're going to die at some point anyway so
[01:25:45] give that a shot J monk says happy Friday getting some Sunrise footage tomorrow morning 6:00 a.m. Jesus near our Bay with my 3 and half inch can't wait very cool kudos to you for
[01:25:56] waking up that early I I'll just be falling asleep around that time no not true I'm going to sleep a lot earlier now Striker says might ask for store credit and fix my big quad tiny whoops
[01:26:05] are fun but nothing like the fling of a larger rig you owe it to yourself to get a tiny whoop that works and get good at flying inside in my opinion I I get what you're saying but
[01:26:16] there is something magic about a really good performing tiny whoop inside the house right it's raining you can still fly you go to a sketchy spot you can fly you go to the [@$#%] airport you can fly
[01:26:31] right so I I'm a huge proponent of everyone having a dialed in tiny whoop but you do you my friends start up pv4 FL my heart out freest of the limit nice ver says yank hard enough to
[01:26:46] pull it off balls of steel 753 oh man that was like 40 minutes ago I don't know what we're talking talking about veras Jason bra black says 3D print your own custom connector or really anything
[01:27:00] plastic it's funny I'm so not used to having a 3D printer it's like I can't do that like wait [@$#%] I guess I can now paint the flat surface of the BT 2.0 plug and battery
[01:27:16] with red fingernail polish to prevent accidentally reversing polarity works great that is a really good idea my God that is an a awesome idea I don't have that problem I just stopped
[01:27:28] pushing really hard like with BT 2.0 connectors just don't push hard just just be gentle with them and you'll never be able to do it reverse polarity but Kenny that's a really good idea
[01:27:37] Northern Tier says have you noticed the bt2.0 gets loose after using an a30 plug s no that's interesting notice this with the Eco 2024 hd0 rig used bt2 830 notice it with several batteries
[01:27:52] interesting I switched everything over to the 180° BetaFPV plug so that would be why I haven't noticed that but that's super interesting James Thomas says you're and my OCD should
[01:28:07] get together for beer and barbecue they can fix the world or fix nothing at all it fix one thing but perfectly danilla turbo says hello James Thomas says did I hear
[01:28:17] you mention a FAA change from 250 to 400 gr I did indeed is that for everyone /all rigs or special case my understanding of it which is a bit limited cuz it is absolutely brand new
[01:28:31] and I've only really watched one video on it but the video that I watched was from the piloting Academy the the guys that absolutely spam the [@$#%] out of everywhere with their part 107 class
[01:28:43] is that it's mainly I I I what I don't know is if C one is still hold on why wonder about anything just type your question into Google and you'll get an answer is
[01:29:07] category one still 250 gram or is it now 400 so this is January 17th 2024 which doesn't do us any good May 31st that's 2021 now see this is the problem we need to find
[01:29:34] something at like within the last week September 29th 2023 no so what I don't know here's what I do know for flying over people the f FAA has now said you can go up to 400 gram if you put a waiver in
[01:30:00] previously you would if you were above if you were outside of category 1 category 1 is 250 grams and Below if you were above category one you had to put a waiver in to fly over people and
[01:30:15] they they denied 97% of the waivers so none of us bothered it was either sub 250 or you don't fly over people or you do it and you're sketchy flying what they've now said is that we're
[01:30:31] going to approve your waivers we want you to put waivers in so we're going to and we're going to bump and the other thing that they said is there have been no accidents go figure it's almost like
[01:30:43] we aren't a bunch of [@$#%] and the Hoops that we have to jump through to get our 107s make us not be dumb but I digress so they want us putting waivers in for flying over
[01:31:01] people and so and there haven't been any accidents and so they've said all right bump 250 up to 400 you got to put a waiver in the waiver process is admittedly a pain in the ass but it's
[01:31:15] just answering questions and [@$#%] and apparently now they will approve these waivers and you can fly up to 400 gr above people like I said what I don't know is if they've changed the CATE I
[01:31:32] can almost guarantee you that they haven't changed the category one rule because if they had we wouldn't have to put the waivers in what I don't know though is if they're now saying you have
[01:31:46] to put a waiver in everybody has to put a waiver in for flying over people my assumption is that sub 250 you still don't have to put a waiver in between 250 and 400 you have
[01:32:01] to put a waiver in but that might be totally wrong it might be if you want to Fly Above people it doesn't matter what you weigh you got to put a waiver in the the video that I watched was not
[01:32:13] clear in in that respect so for me if they're going to approve the waivers I will absolutely put a waiver in to get an extra 150 gr all day for sure and if the deal is I if
[01:32:33] this is super interesting right like if category 1 is now 400 GRS sub 250 is dead and there is no reason for anyone to build a 249.99 because like flying over people is one
[01:32:57] of the only reasons to build under 250 there there are other reasons but it's like the main reason so it's this potentially makes things way more confusing unfortunately but for me is
[01:33:12] really good news because the the the live broadcast rigs are at like the very edge of their performance envelope carrying the speed that I'm carrying and being able to go up to having an extra 150 g
[01:33:32] allows me to go up to either 3-in box rigs with head tracking or 3 and 1 half inch with fixed camera angle so either way super exciting because at 3 and2 in it'll just own like it'll own the wind
[01:33:57] it'll own 40 mph it'll fly [@$#%] awesome I'll get better runtime it'll just be beautiful at 3 in it'll fly awesome and having head tracking will be dope like I'll be able to like back up like I I'll
[01:34:13] be able to go in front of the pack turn around and look down and back up with them and just show that it'll be super sketchy to do it but at the Aniston events for example like I
[01:34:24] have it's like two and a half blocks or three blocks that I have a straight path and so if I can if I can dump down on him like in the first block and go go like under the the the stop sign and
[01:34:37] past that flag and rotate around with them I can pretty easily fly it backwards for a full block very safely and just look right at the pack and that that would just be nuts and I'm
[01:34:50] not carrying an external camera right so all I need is medlin's like Reg setup and he's already done it he's already built a qav c the newer version not the freebot one but they're damn
[01:35:03] near identical with a I think it's an 03 camera on one of his setups so I'm just waiting for him to get back to me I know he's super busy that could be really really
[01:35:20] fun Northern Tier says are those original fat shark Avatar goggles that are on sale for 380 worth getting they are I love them I they're like my favorite goggles I think I mean the the
[01:35:40] HD zero goggles are great and all but the the fat shark Dominator SL WalkSnail Avatar goggles are just awesome they just work there's no [@$#%] they're comfy they're
[01:35:52] lightweight they're they're not quite as light as the old school fat sharks but nothing is they're just awesome and there's newbie drone foam out for them now which is brilliant they're just
[01:36:03] great set of goggles Frank Nicholas says if you haven't watched any of the lockpicking lawyer you should I'm certain that I have I I I definitely watched him talk about
[01:36:17] the this this might be where I I subscrib to that channel he did a thing on the flipper the little flipper RF spoofing orange and white magical thing that might be where I am no I I've
[01:36:33] been I've been I've been getting recommendations for that channel for longer than that thing that well I guess the Flipper's been out for a while it might have been it but it's a
[01:36:42] really cool Channel I just try not to go down too many rabbit holes on YouTube because I'll lose like a whole night watching lock ping stuff buster rmes that is such an
[01:36:55] awesome old school ' 80s 90s kid screen name Buster Rhymes says you've probably addressed this millions of times but what keeps 3D printed whoops frames from being viable it's just
[01:37:10] not strong enough like the the the the layers and the material and so many people have tried 3D printed whoop frames and they they just they don't isolate the vibrations
[01:37:22] coming from the motors and the prop s quite enough the the molded frames are just have always been the way to go there was a company that pushed 3D printed frames really hard called r3d
[01:37:36] shifters or red shifters and they got closer than anybody with 3D printed frames but it's still just it's just not quite good enough and with tiny whoops like we are right at the limit of
[01:37:54] like what's possible like with the frame design now like if if our frames are any are any less stiff than they currently are it just all it's just it's just no good and so the the
[01:38:10] molding process bonding all of the plastic together rather than like the layers also the other problem is is that tiny whoop frames are very three-dimensional so if you
[01:38:22] tried to 3D print this like those layer lines are either going to be really thin on these supports here or they there's just not a great way to 3D print this shape of a frame is is going to be my
[01:38:39] other guess as to why it's not there and then the last reason is weight we're looking to shave like tenths of a gram and with a molded product you can shave every tiny little
[01:38:52] bit of weight right with a with a 3D printed product frame rather you have to add a little bit of extra material especially where it gets really thin and that's that's going to
[01:39:02] be sort of a deal breaker for how competitive tiny whoops have gotten in terms of saving like literally ten of a gram like as an example the meteor 65 airframe and it looks it's starting
[01:39:15] to look like the the Mobula 6 2024 frame they are lighter than all of the other frames but they've gone a little bit too far and you have to back your tune off because of how light they've
[01:39:28] gone and the because of how light they've gone the frame is a little bit too wobbly and so with 3D printed frames it's the next level of that like and there you don't get that benefit
[01:39:39] of super super super lightweight it's the frames are like the normal weight but then they're too wobbly the there's something really magic about the Cockroach 65 V3 frame where
[01:39:52] it is it's like the perfect mix of lightweight but able to handle the vibrations that we get from the motors and that's one of the reasons that I'm going to that frame on like
[01:40:04] everything veras says meant dude not do Jake Thomas says do these printed TPU motor mount pads actually do anything or a gimmick I don't know which ones you're referring to but typically you do
[01:40:20] not want TPU in between your motor and your frame that is now going to allow the motor to move if it's a carbon fiber arm that you're bolting that motor to that's going to put extra stress on
[01:40:34] the screws right if the motor can move like this that screw is going to bend that's no good and then it also adds latency right like the motor is going to is going to move when you don't
[01:40:48] necessarily want it to and then the other thing that's always weirded me out about it is that you're not soft mounting the screw you've got a screw head against hard carbon and then you've
[01:41:01] got the motor soft mounted only in that One Direction so for example the motor is going to be able to rotate like this and now that screw head is going to pull away from the carbon well then when the
[01:41:13] motor rotates back the other way that screw head is going to slam into the carbon so if you think about like the the vibration that's going to get caused it's going to be soft in one Direction
[01:41:23] and then sharp in the other direction and soft and sharp and it's just it's just bad there it's there are people that swear up and down that it like fixed their rig and that
[01:41:37] it's God's gift to everything and then you check back in with those people 6 months later and it's weird they're never running them anymore Placebo is real and so that's
[01:41:51] typically what I see is is people do it they have a rig that has a problem and they use it as a Band-Aid and sometimes it makes the problem a little bit better but then eventually
[01:42:03] they find the actual problem and then they take it off and the rig performs even better so it's not really something that you want to do I I've yet to see anybody that
[01:42:17] consistently runs it everybody runs it for a little while and then they get away from it and there are a lot of NE to it's something that I tried for a long time because a lot of the a
[01:42:28] lot of the arm guards have a TPU slab on them and so the the what's really annoying about this TPU piece here is that you drive these screws into it and the screws can cut through it so I tried
[01:42:44] really hard to run it the other way because when you have this flap between the motor and the arm it never it never tears but there are a bunch of performance problems with it which is a total deal
[01:42:57] breaker for me so don't do it in my opinion great question though brother O Brother what Jacob says what's up Ganges Walter says Teflon grease does not attract dust there's another option
[01:43:16] for a Teflon grease although I think that's what the bicycle Lube might be not sure crom say has been flying outside since the weather got good today I flew inside again and I suck so bad
[01:43:26] I'm reinstating the six batteries a day flying inside is a different skill set everything everything is faster all everything that you do has to happen quicker which is cool because
[01:43:39] when you get good at that and then you go fly outside you can relax and you're you're better right like flying inside is like swinging with a weighted bat you got to work way harder so really
[01:43:50] good tiny whoop indoor Pilots make really good outdoor Pilots evv says did you get a 3D printer I did indeed I won a bamboo lab A1 Mini at Rampage for the for the micro look
[01:44:08] at this print they they printed this on bamboo lab printers look at this [@$#%] how the hell what an impressive print man like I really I I got to be honest I I was a
[01:44:22] little sad not to the really cool clear glass style award that they did two years ago but man this is super cool the only thing that annoys me about this is like what do I do like I I got to
[01:44:34] find a little like thing to right like now it's just it's just laying down back here but that was a super cool surprise for for winning the micros Community Spotlight thing again
[01:44:52] this year and I haven't turned it on yet because I want to do a live stream 43y Old Man 3d prints for the first time or like I gota I can't think of like the most insulting
[01:45:05] possible title for the live stream like I I kind I I think it should more be like like last FPV pilot ever to start 3D printing or something I just I need to figure out
[01:45:19] that title and then and then I'll do it I the the the the majority of the setup the damn thing I already did which is taking it out of the box and then taking the styrofoam pieces off of it
[01:45:31] and cutting like a zip tie off of it apparently at this point you you grease the rails and then you plug it in and it works like supposedly it like it does everything by itself it
[01:45:46] levels the bed it's does a bunch of tests and then you just put filament in it and push the button and it goes which is like perfect so I'm kind of
[01:45:56] excited but I don't really have anything to print at the moment at some point here I'm going to need to print some some more batwing mounts but at the moment I don't need to and I'm I'm
[01:46:07] there's some other stuff that I'm doing first so I'm kind of prioritizing some some other things but I'm excited to plug it in and push the button frag diglas says the weight SL
[01:46:19] flying one people was strictly about waiver the weight slash I think I think that's a phone spell check flying over people makes much more sense was strictly about
[01:46:32] waiver flying over people I think what Frank is saying is that they haven't changed category one and this is just an allow they've just bumped the weight allowance up for flying over
[01:46:45] people only if you put the waiver in I a lot I would I no I I would actually I would rather them move category one up to 400 but I understand why they didn't
[01:47:04] I I I actually can't think of the other reason that you would build what's the other category one what's the other reason to fly to build sub 250 God it's
[01:47:24] I learned it all and then just forgot it as soon as I walked out of the test center there's another good reason to build sub 250 I'll I'll think of it I'll think of
[01:47:39] it somebody will type it into chat before I think of it m somebody has probably already T typed it into chat MC mukus says is 250 gram still the line where you are supposed to get remote ID
[01:47:50] I think you're supposed to get remote ID for everything right because like the main thing that we were all kicking and screaming about is like how the [@$#%] am I going to put
[01:47:58] remote ID on a tiny whoop I think you're supposed to do remote ID on everything I could be wrong about that though I haven't really paid much attention to remote ID James Thomas
[01:48:10] says 250 or 400 I think my selective hearing just T just kicked in Frank Nas says lockpicking lawyer is purely mechanical lockpicking ah okay how the hell did I get subscribed to that
[01:48:20] channel then maybe I'm not subscribed maybe it does just keep recommending it I don't remember I I do not remember I just remembered he had a thumbnail about how you can break most
[01:48:39] locks with a pipe wrench apparently like most padlocks you can just put a pipe wrench on them and we all have pipe wrenches right and just twist the [@$#%] things off I'm pretty sure that
[01:48:52] that's where that's the video that I watched that that got me into that that got me starting to get recommended or maybe I subscribed I'm not sure K zeber says now you can 3D print a
[01:49:04] stand for your 3D printed award somebody said that previously Eva said the same thing H you just print a stand for it I want a clear stand though I I want the stand to kind of disappear
[01:49:15] because the stand is kind of ugly when when we got these Awards on stage they were on little plastic the stupid little stands that sit out like this and they have the little the little
[01:49:24] things and they're they're clear acrylic and you can barely see them and that that's kind of what I want although maybe I can 3D print a fancy looking stand where I either want the stand to
[01:49:33] be invisible or it to be fancy looking I'll figure it out Veritas veritus says the same thing j monk says do you sell the Batwing Mount I do not but the files for the Batwing Mount are
[01:49:44] over on my Discord on the tiny whoop and toothpick Channel they are free you can grab it and 3D print it for yourself key zebra says remote ID for sub 250 is part 107 only right which is
[01:49:57] I only pay attention to part 107 stuff right because most of the flying that that I do at this point is for work so Frank diglas says 250 Gams was the weight of a cannonball at some
[01:50:12] time in our history that is my favorite thing I tell people that and they they just don't believe me they just they look at me like I'm crazy and just refuse to believe me like now I swear to
[01:50:23] God man 250 is remote ID if you're flying part 107 there is a clear filament i' I've seen that I I am going to get some clear filament but it's not clear clear it's you
[01:50:35] know like milky milk carton container clear it Jesus it's 8:52 in 8 minutes go get you some bot grinder or hang out with me as I change a motor now that I'm caught up on chat lots of
[01:50:49] great questions from lots of great people tonight but I am now caught up so it was motor number three that was having the problem so again this is a rig with a 30x30
[01:51:05] acon 35 amp ESC which has been completely Invincible I have not killed one in thousands and thousands and thousands of batteries but this one is twitching in the way that esc's twitch
[01:51:17] when they've died but there's really no reason to immediately die into swapping out an ESC without trying to swap the motor first you should have an extra motor it takes so much less time do it don't swap
[01:51:35] the ESC if you've only got one motor that's twitching try to swap that motor out first it's so much less work and there's a half decent chance that that is your problem and that's exactly
[01:51:47] what we're going to do we're going to see if this is a motor problem or an ESC problem if it is if it is an ESC problem I'm these Aon esc's have been through absolute hell and back
[01:52:03] and then back to hell again and then back and then maybe even to Hell one more time I cannot fault this ESC for for dying if that's the case here but I would not be surp surprised if I put
[01:52:17] this fresh motor on here and it comes back to life all I'm sorry not comes back to life but the rig comes back to life I would not be surprised if if the motor is the problem so let's figure that out
[01:52:31] rocket Tech with a $5 Super Chat thank you for supporting the insanity my friend he says once you try FPV you will forever walk the wor Earth with your eyes turned Skyward for there you have
[01:52:41] been and there you will always long to return this is my favorite sticker ever from Tiny whoop.com I keep two of these stickers here I'll show you I keep two of these
[01:52:56] stickers right here under my monitor because this is one of my favorite quotes of all time it is such a beautiful quote to explain FPV most people that pick up FPV
[01:53:12] will totally get this I can't figure out where I only have two of these stickers and I'm just I'm forever looking for like the perfect place to put them so up there they stay someday I'll
[01:53:24] figure out the exact right spot to put those bastards and it'll be great but that is one of my favorite I think that is my favorite quote maybe like ever I don't know there
[01:53:36] there's other there's other like random quotes that are better obviously but that's certainly my favorite FPV quote and Jesse's been Jesse from Tiny whoop found that quote ages
[01:53:49] ago and it's just tiny whoop is really exemplifies that quote so well right because like anybody can get into it's super cheap super easy you can fly
[01:54:07] everywhere it's just all of FPV obviously fits with that but man I I think tiny whooping has like a special it's just special man [@$#%] special Frank nichlas says there's
[01:54:22] absolutely completely clear filament if printed properly no [@$#%] What what material is it because I need it I would love to be able to have perfectly clear prints that
[01:54:34] would be rad EV fpb says even even though the bamboos are great out of the box there's still a lot of learning on the software side with slicing I can't see it because stupid YouTube puts
[01:54:47] the stupid heart thing in the corner software side of slicing so would love to help you get up and running I would love that as well and I I had actually been planning on bugging
[01:54:57] you once I got it going to help me with that because I know that that's going to be the struggle is figuring the software out so you beat me to it in in offering help because I was
[01:55:08] going to beg for help anyway since I'm I don't know computer stuff just it just doesn't work in my brain sometimes and one of the reasons I've stayed away from the 3D printing stuff is
[01:55:26] because I can tell like I'm just going to have a mental block when it comes to it I don't know what it is I'm old enough where like I can tell now if my brain is going to [@$#%] its
[01:55:39] pants with certain things and what I should do is fight through that and push through but when I'm super busy which doing FPV fulltime keeps you incredibly busy
[01:55:55] I have to be kind of realistic with that stuff and I have to like push that stuff out into the future because to mash through stuff takes a bunch of time and a bunch of effort
[01:56:09] and that's tough to that's tough to find but oh [@$#%] what what KV are these motors that I'm pulling off 1950 awesome all right cool all right so here we go here's how
[01:56:27] I swap a motor put the motors butt to butt like this line up the Staters take your two index fingers like this so that you can hold the motors exactly even your your thumb and your ring
[01:56:44] finger here can hold the wires together like this make absolutely sure that you have it as lined up as possible and then pinch here and then you can cut your motor wies the exact same
[01:57:03] length this is the quickest way to do it that I've found all right I get all the way through that one cool and so now your new motor has the exact same length wires as the old
[01:57:20] one I actually cut these a little bit shorter should be okay should have a little bit of extra wire on your on your race wires make sure that they're perfectly lined up use your
[01:57:33] fingernails to strip the the insulation your fingernails are not harder than the metal that the strands of wire are so your fingernails will never Nick any of the any of the
[01:57:48] individual strands of wire if you use Cutters or anything that's metal you have the chance of nicking one or two or 10 of these inner strands of wire and that's not good you want as much
[01:58:03] throughput as you can get to the motors after I peel it off I just take a fingernail and pull down the silicone a little bit cuz when you pull if you haven't like really dug your fingernails
[01:58:16] into it you can you can pull this silicone up a little bit so make sure that you push it back down so that you have the right amount when you hit's with heat it'll kind of pull itself
[01:58:28] back down but it's just a quick little thing to do so you got one we got two and we've got three all right now we're going to Tin these what tinning does is it preloads
[01:58:51] the wire with a bunch of solder your pads should also be tinned and what that means is you're going to have enough solder on the wire and on the pad so that you don't have to add any extra
[01:59:05] when you're installing the motor and that's really important because none of you have three hands or three arms so our pads are already pre-tinned oh my
[01:59:18] god oh boy that's about the right amount of solder that you want on the pads come on you jerk really oddly enough that doesn't help come on
[01:59:46] man there we go there it is that's about the right amount you could have a little bit more than that but that's about right and so now you take your motor try to make sure
[02:00:02] that the the individual strands of wire do not get all straight all frayed so when you put the motor down put it down like this don't put it down in the other direction because that'll pull
[02:00:11] those strands of wire get like a little a little block see I made the mistake and now there's a couple little strands going the opposite direction that's fine just do this get
[02:00:27] them straightened back out you can even twist this oh [@$#%] I'm not low enough you can even twist these you don't really have to but just pull them outwards make sure it's there's none
[02:00:36] that are sticking out all janky like all right make sure that's looking good hang the motor and the wires off of the side of either like your desk or a little wood block or something so
[02:00:49] that you can get this the tip of the soldering iron under and then you're going to feed the solder from up above take your solder pull out a little bit of extra solder here so that you have
[02:01:02] enough I run my soldering iron at 700° that's hot enough for big thick wires and not too hot for a little skinny wires this way I don't have to constantly adjust the
[02:01:12] temperature and so soldering iron below the wire and then we're going to push the solder through we're trying to make sure that we get solder in between the individual strands of of
[02:01:23] wires so you can kind of get it started by putting solder between the wire and the tip of the iron and then that's it that's all there is to it over here do the next
[02:01:36] one the liquid solder will transfer heat very quickly to the strands of wire and so you end up with like a blob of solder on here and when you push the tip in to the wire it that blob of
[02:01:52] solder kind of cradles the wires and that's going to transfer the Heat and that's how you're going to then be able to push the solder in between the invidual strands and that's
[02:02:02] it that is pre-tinned take a look at the bottom and make sure the bottom also has solder on it you want to make sure that the bottom is not just the individual strands of wire and this is totally fine
[02:02:14] you don't want like a huge ball of solder on here that's too much you just want to coat it you want to completely coat it that's the right amount too much solder is not necessarily a good thing
[02:02:26] it is better than too little solder though so when in doubt big solder balls are better than exposed bits of wire exposed bits of wire meaning individual strands of wire that don't
[02:02:42] have soldering on them the actual perfect amount of solder is all of the individual strands are coated in solder and silver but you can see the individual strands good God is it hard to do that
[02:02:59] and so for us it's usually a better bet to just have like a little bit of a ball of solder all right it is super hard for me to do this with this camera in the
[02:03:17] way so you're not going to get the best view of this but I there's not a whole lot I can do I like to do the first one by hand you're going to put your this part of your hand down on the desk you
[02:03:32] don't want to be floating like this if you're floating like this your shoulder is doing all the work so your shoulder is holding up the weight of your entire arm so of course you're
[02:03:45] going to be a shaky bastard because this entire thing is is being held up by these shoulders muscles right at the very least you want to get your wrist down on the desk now it's just like your
[02:03:59] wrist muscles that are just holding your hand up that's going to help out a lot but even better is to roll your hand forward and get as you're you're trying to have as little of a lever as possible
[02:04:13] right like I have contact with the table that's not moving all the way up here so it's just like my fingers holding this up and if you really look here I'm bracing I'm bracing my ring finger on my
[02:04:25] pinky so I've got like the the only lever is there see between that point of contact to the motor it's just that tiny little lever and so I can hold this thing super super super stable when
[02:04:38] the solder is cooling it's really important to not move it when if if you're in here shaking as this thing is cooling that's going to create a cold solder joint and those are the solder
[02:04:50] joints that either don't pass full like all the voltage or they break in in the worst case scenario so don't do that these are like super basics in soldering but I cannot believe
[02:05:05] how many people that I see that have been soldering for a long time that aren't doing these things and their work really really really suffers for it so first one we're going to do by
[02:05:17] hand get a good grip on the on like the Stater oh wow you guys can't see sh [@$#%] I'll move this a little bit here in hopes that that helps now you have to do your job
[02:05:29] Logitech and [@$#%] Focus you piece of [@$#%] wow it's being really worthless tonight usually it's awful but this is like next level awful wow come on man work
[02:05:57] there it goes okay so before you bring the tip of the soldering iron in you need to have this perfect you need to not be shaking you need to bend the wire so that it's just
[02:06:09] right you do not want to be making adjustments with the tip of the soldering iron on the work so get this absolutely perfect so that that wire is going to go down make sure that you are
[02:06:21] holding it properly of course it goes out of focus again all right [@$#%] this [@$#%] camera piece of [@$#%] all right this is what you get guys sorry I just don't have the
[02:06:36] patience for it and here we go so we're going to come in sideways like this to get a good contact patch on the tip of the iron on The Wire the wire EXA is exactly where
[02:06:50] it needs to be I'm trying to not hit this other wire let me do this properly and I'm going to fold these wires out of the way get this exactly where it needs to be come in sideways like this you want
[02:07:02] to have as much contact between the tip of the iron and the wire as possible to transfer heat as quickly as possible bring it in on top I should have fluxed this I forgot to flux
[02:07:12] it but there is still some flux on here no there's not cuz that is not transferring the heat take your flux put it on all three of these it'll make a huge difference
[02:07:22] you can also flux the tips of the wires that is super helpful as well the flux Keeps The Joint clean and transfers the heat nice and quickly you want to get on and off these dumping heat into
[02:07:36] these components is not good for them so now we've got flux on the pad watch the difference ready and 3 2 1 instant heat transfer flux Burns off that's what the smoke is
[02:07:52] push down a little bit to get it flat on the pad get annoyed by your phone and get off of there shut up all right feel bad for throwing this camera I'm just so fed up with these
[02:08:21] [@$#%] loges at cameras like how is your focus algorithm so bad and this is what you want to see you want the wire to be flat on the pad and you want the silicone to be hanging off the side
[02:08:33] there is everything there for you to focus on you jackass although ah it looks wire picked up a little bit's looks like when the wire was cooling it kind of popped up so this is
[02:08:44] actually not what you want let me fix this I know exactly why this happened it's because I was not wearing these and I couldn't really see what I was doing do your work with
[02:08:58] magnification guys being able to see what you're doing will will your the quality of your work will explode it's makes such a difference oh that is a shitty solder joint
[02:09:10] right there all right so now I'm going to do this right and so since I fluxed it before there's still some flux residue left over so I don't really need to do it again
[02:09:22] and so oh no here all right so let's fix this guy and so TW now I'm going to be doing it with tweezers all right so we're going to put heat into this I'm going to hang this
[02:09:39] off the side there we go much better this is actually what you want it to look like so we've got the wire coming straight off the pad there's no gap between the bottom of the wire in the pad and then
[02:10:00] you see how the silicone is is right at the edge that's what you want there you want the wire to be as flat as possible because think of think of the force if this if this gets pulled in this
[02:10:11] direction right that's not going to rip that pad off because it's so flat to the pad right like this is the pad and then this is the wire if that pulls that's really strong if
[02:10:24] the wire is up here and it pulls it's going to try to rip that pad off right the flatter you get the wire to the pad it becomes much much much stronger and when when you break an arm the the motor
[02:10:37] can get pulled really hard in that outward Direction so that's super important if you want your [@$#%] to be really really strong Kevin sum says after 9:00 p.m. and CV is still streaming that's
[02:10:49] surprising the least seriously the next ones I do with the tweezers go get some BO grinder friends I am now on his time slot all right so now we're going to come in with the tweezers because the
[02:11:05] one wire is basically now in the way so come on in here make sure you grip the wire in just the tip of the tweezers make sure it's in the perfect spot and then come in with the heat
[02:11:21] get it where it needs to be stay nice and still give it like five seconds just stay still for five seconds and there we go one more and now what can happen on the last one is the silicone can be a little bit
[02:11:37] too far you want to make sure that the silicone is not up on the pad because then the wire won't be able to sit flat make sure that the silicone is off the side of the
[02:11:48] PCB pdb sorry pdb there we go push down a little bit to flatten out the strands ah that didn't come out that good all right so let's rework this one put heat back on the pad and gently
[02:12:14] raise it up the the strands of wire started to Flay outwards a little bit so just straighten them back out and then right back down oops last C there we
[02:12:42] go that one start lifting up nope it's nice and flat and that is what you want to see nice and flat everything is nice and smooth there's no big craters or holes or anything wires are all nice
[02:13:04] and lined up no bridging between each other just enough solder but not too much the other thing that happens if you have too much solder is they start to get really close to bridging with one
[02:13:13] another which you don't want and there you go there's a quick little soldering tutorial for you now let's see if that fixed this I'm super curious to see if if I finally did
[02:13:27] kill one of these acons technically I did kill one of these acons but the rig fell 25 stories to the concrete and nothing survived in that so I don't really consider that like the acon dying that
[02:13:43] is cruel and unusual punishment if this is dead this is a proper like the ESC died from a normal crash because I've not hammered this thing super hard like that
[02:14:07] that I can remember EV FPV rightly says flux saves lives if you're having if you're having problems soldering I can almost guarantee you the problem is that you're not using enough flux or you're not
[02:14:22] using you're probably not using any flux and I'm not even kidding like if if you're having problems soldering use more flux and I bet you you stop having problems soldering if you're not
[02:14:34] using flux you're just making it so much harder on yourself there's just there's absolutely no reason even if you're really good I had a while where like I got good enough where I kind of didn't
[02:14:46] need to use it because there is flux in the core of the solder and if you do everything perfectly you can just use the flux that's in here but if you are if you stay on the pad for a quarter of a
[02:15:03] second too long that flux will all evaporate and then the quality of your work will suffer and so use extra flux because what the hell it takes a couple extra seconds and it gives you some
[02:15:20] leeway a not be absolutely perfect every single time you touch the soldering iron of the work right let's see I understand the risks motor 3 oh it's the ESC no [@$#%] yep wow we F we did it we did
[02:15:41] it I don't know what did it but the Aon ak32 30x30 3 5 amp ESC can be killed boy does it take a lot of abuse but it can be killed so now I have to do the hard work on this rig so
[02:16:05] let me let me pull the luckily I have an extra one I think I only have one extra though I think I think this rig is now going to eat my very last ak32 35 amp which scares the hell out of me
[02:16:18] although that's probably a good good thing like as much as I just want to run the Invincible ESC forever I'm sure it's super annoying when you guys are likewhat's the hotc for a 5in rig and I'm
[02:16:36] like I don't know I used the same ones from five [@$#%] years ago they won't die what I mean it's I need to move on I I I need to have products that I've beat the hell out of
[02:16:49] that I can suggest that are actually available the the constant problem with that though is that by the time I've beaten a product enough to be confident to recommend it they [@$#%]
[02:17:02] discontinue it and they replace it with God Only Knows and then the cycle kind of begins again so it's super difficult but what am I going to do you
[02:17:16] know what's up sleepy CBR EV PV says how long has that thing put up with your abuse at least at least 3 years probably closer to four or even five years this this was an an analog rig and
[02:17:37] then it got the the Vista and it got the it was a 15 mm standoff rig it went up to 16 mil standoffs and I've not had to change this ESC I've not had to change the acon ESC these on any of
[02:17:51] the freestyle rigs the only one that I lost is the one that came 25 stories down into the concrete at my favorite spot in Buckhead and on that day that happened to two
[02:18:10] rigs one of the esc's survived but everything else was pretty much destroyed that was like a $400 day I blew up two session fives 1
[02:18:23] ESC the frames were just mangled one or two vtx's I think both cameras it was just ridiculous I mean that that heart of a fall to straight up concrete is just there's there's not a whole lot
[02:18:40] that's going to survive but this ESC has been bulletproof this is the one this is the one that I used Superglue to so there's a there's like a center on some of these
[02:19:02] ak32 esc's there's a daughter board in the middle here and I had one or two of them where the daughter board on a really hard hit broke off but then I just soldered it
[02:19:18] back and it was fine I remember this ESC I I I I'd been using E6000 to glue the daughter boards back on and it totally worked on this one I got lazy and I used superglue and it dried all it
[02:19:35] dried like you can see it's like super ugly but damn unbelievable how much abuse this this ESC is put up with pour one out for the homie I didn't think we could I I I legitimately
[02:19:52] thought that I would never be able to break one of these which is stupid but I mean I threw everything I possibly could at it where's the other there it
[02:20:02] is all right so I need I have to actually space the front of these out to 17 mm so I use these little plastic 1 mil spacers on top of the front standoffs it works shockingly
[02:20:19] well but then it's easy to lose them so hold on I just need to do this it's pretty much the end of the live stream my friends EV says I still get PTSD from my crash diving King and
[02:20:39] Spalding only time I've broken an apex I mean you can you can hit a 5-inch rig hard enough to break pretty much everything in it I don't care if it's six millimeter arms or 60 millimeter
[02:20:50] arms like there's just there's an amount of force that you can put into these things that nothing will survive and if if something does survive it's just like luck of the draw
[02:21:05] you know well I'm not going to do this tonight I I don't have it in me to swap this ESC out but let me let me actually double check that I have one extra I'm 99% sure that I have an
[02:21:20] extra one of these where's the ESC box here's the ESC box and any last second questions hurry up and ask them let's see here oh there it is there it
[02:21:42] is oh my God it's the last one yikes well actually actually I do have a couple secret ones what I don't know I have I have three extras in the the little kits of the analog
[02:22:11] Glides that I wanted to build to sell that I never ended up finishing so technically I have four more of these but three of them are kind of earmarked for those builds but this
[02:22:22] is the last one man that's creepy Aon ak32 35 amp AO 6s BL heli 32 this is very old I don't know what version of BL H 32 is on this oh my God this is so old this might have
[02:22:53] like7 on it oh man what this is going to have a version of BL 32 on it that doesn't have high and low pwm I'll bet I'll bet I'm just going to have to run this like a BL s and just
[02:23:13] lock the the pwm at 40 48 that sucks that sucks because this thing's been broken for a while and if I'd fixed this before I would have been able to flash it to
[02:23:32] 3210 that's a kick in the balls that's a shame but what it'll be totally fine it'll fly absolutely fine man the last one I'll be dams I I really never thought this day would come I I I I
[02:23:54] thought that I would have these absolutely forever Smokey dog Kujo says what made you choose choose that as your freestyle frame I mean one of the main things is that I helped Bob develop
[02:24:09] it and prototype test it but basically the the Glide frame had the best motor protect ction on the ends of the arms and that saves tons of money the motors are very expensive the arms
[02:24:27] are not and so the motor protection was was one of the biggest things also the weight of the frame the it is like exactly strong enough for a lightweight
[02:24:42] build and a build that's like 600 gram these arms the strength of these arms they're strong enough to take like between two and five like really big hits like really big
[02:25:00] just stupid hits that will eat a motor right so you slam super hard replace a motor slam on that side super hard again if if those two hits were hard enough sometimes that arm will break
[02:25:19] and when the arm breaks it will absorb a bunch of that energy and it'll it'll potentially save the motor so sometimes on the second massive hit you'll save a motor swap the arm and Away you go that
[02:25:31] cycle starts again more often than not that H you'll eat another motor and then on the third really big hit or the fourth that's when the arm will let go and it'll save the motor for you I
[02:25:46] don't recommend frames where you break arms on that first big hit that that's a bit much it's gets a little bit annoying CU sometimes you don't hit the motor right
[02:25:59] sometimes you crash really hard and all the energy goes into the arm so ideally first massive hit is like this and the motor's okay and the arm gets that big shock load put into it and starts to
[02:26:13] delaminate or whatever second Mega hit hopefully it's like this again and the arm will probably survive again best case scenario thir third Mega hit is inverted into the motor the arm breaks
[02:26:26] the motor survives swap the arm out you're good to go that's the cycle that during the frame sort of being developed and the thickness of the arms the width of the arms and all that [@$#%]
[02:26:38] we're going back like we're going like four years ago now five years ago almost that was the that was the cycle that I kind of got into and this has been
[02:26:51] just the best frame in terms of that balance at this weight if you do a Glide build and you get up above 650 gram up towards 700 or Beyond it's no good like this is not the frame for
[02:27:06] that you start to get into a situation where like every Big Hit breaks the arm some people don't mind that because if it's an inverted hit's going to save the motor and the
[02:27:17] motors are 26 bucks the arms are four five three whatever right you replace the arms with just screws you replace the motors with a soldering iron so there are people that run Glide
[02:27:28] builds at 700 gram 750 gram I wouldn't if if I was going to fly that heavy freestyle crashing a lot I would go to a frame with I mean I would probably go to the newer Glide with the thicker
[02:27:42] the thicker arms and probably be fine but in in my quest for the the absolute cheapest possible way to fly freestyle hard and crash a lot this is the thing Motors
[02:28:00] became the most expensive part and this frame has helped me save lots and lots and lots of Motors because the arms will actually break when you hit hard enough to grenade the motor and
[02:28:15] so it's got that balance there which is really cool here it is there's that here's the daughter board that I was telling you about so this this
[02:28:26] I will not install this ESC as it is here I will run so you see that's the daughter board and so it's got two solder solder points back there it's got one more solder point there in the
[02:28:40] corner and then it's got two solder points here up in the front and so if you hit hard enough this board will break right off and then the ESC won't work but I've had that happen
[02:28:52] and I've just soldered it back in and it's been totally fine I've like found this on the concrete next to the quad so to prevent that from happening all you got to do is run a
[02:29:03] bead of E6000 around the daughter board I used to do it with epoxy but then I realized that E6000 is totally fine because like you've got that bead going all the way around it and it's you know
[02:29:16] the E6000 is like right in that little Groove and it's plenty strong going all the way around E6000 is kind of stretchy right so you would think that it might move but you've got a bead all the way
[02:29:25] around so that's completely enough this doesn't matter to any of you because nobody has this ESC because it got discontinued years ago but I guess if you ever get an electrical component
[02:29:35] for a freestyle rig that has a daughter board solder down on top it's going to break off I can almost guarantee you it the solder is not a good the the physical properties of solder suck it's
[02:29:48] not a good thing to hold stuff together together with it's not strong it's very soft so you don't want solder being the only thing that's going to hold one pdb on top PCB on top of another PCB
[02:30:01] so but there aren't many components that have the daughterboard scenar set up Striker with the last comment of the live stream he says I'm like What's better DJI 03 or hd0 do I feel latency I
[02:30:12] can barely afford analog LMO it's a tough decision man the the video systems all have their pluses and minuses and we all have to make that decision for ourselves and
[02:30:23] you'll inevitably get it wrong and have to get another one but the the value of this stuff stays pretty good try to buy used stuff and then you can buy it for the same as what you'll eventually
[02:30:31] sell it for as long as you don't blow it up thanks for hanging friends my name is Aaron SE everybody calls me Ciotti this was 5inch Friday head on over to www. Ciotti is a fat donkey loving dip shit.com
