[00:02:49] hey friends my name is Aaron Ciotti everybody calls me Ciotti welcome to the show that was 20022 was around the was that I don't know if that was during the pandemic or what
[00:03:02] but that was a favorite spot of mine i t i called that the tree tunnel spot that was like right I I could almost walk to that spot from my my old apartment what's up friends Douglas 6
[00:03:15] sorry for the late start I've been just all over the place today I literally just got in we're going to be taking a look at the air 65 version 2 they didn't really change
[00:03:27] anything other than the motors the motor are version two I I don't think they're calling this version two they're they're still calling this the air 65 but I reviewed the original one of
[00:03:41] these and now we'll review and talk about the what I'm calling version two we'll talk about the UFL port on the air AIO we'll check out the new Motors the new Motors are supposedly
[00:04:00] more powerful and more efficient which is pretty cool and we will get it set up get it bound I'll show you a lot of the settings that I use this is from scratch this just showed up yesterday
[00:04:16] and what else we're going to talk about upgrades we're probably going to change the propellers we're probably going to change the antenna those are really the only upgrades that I would
[00:04:25] recommend for this but we'll talk about that we'll look at the tune and I'll maybe turn the tune up a little bit and show you how I would do that and we're going to fly it around a bunch I've got
[00:04:37] six batteries on the charger I've got another one here ready to go a bunch of 260s a bunch of 300s all the gates are set up the the gates down here in the basement are now
[00:04:49] back very similar to the way they once were I tried moving them around and I like the way that they were so lots of cool stuff coming tonight this is going to be a little bit of a li of a
[00:05:01] shorter live stream this is going to be an hour and a half instead of 2 hours I'm going to stop at 9:00 Eastern the time that I normally stop at so lot to do I'm going to try my best to
[00:05:13] answer as many questions as I can in chat but fair warning I'm probably going to miss a couple of people Douglas 6 render Troy pre-log rock crawler J DS bird person FPV Curtis Hayes Spaceman
[00:05:24] spiff Ray Weber LOL the ksen aliat Bob Bruce Bren Anderson zip Uriel dronen cold front and penguin what's up everybody thanks for coming type CiottiFPV into the chat and it'll light up on
[00:05:40] orange for me and I will read your comment do my best to answer it or just give you a shout out or whatever eurl tag me said SE FV and all others happy to see you yeah be sorry I was
[00:05:52] waiting drenen says what's up man hope all is good Ray says no worries about the late start we're here for you and love you bro thank you dude cool I'm caught up already let's let's just Dive
[00:06:02] Right on in Q&A all the things beta FP version 2 screw it let's just dive on in this is the retail packaging it comes in nice little cardboard thing
[00:06:17] recyclable easy with the plastic everybody speaking of plastic extra set of GemFan 129s propellers in a unique milky white color I don't think you can buy this color from gem
[00:06:30] fan you can I think you can buy this color from BetaFPV or it comes with it comes with their their air 65 and Champion Edition I think comes with a set of these in Smoke
[00:06:49] crotch gray don't quote me on that though comes with the little uh USBC to jst dongly boy here which is great because these are hard to find I think I still have one of
[00:07:11] these up on my Etsy store I don't know where you can buy these I think my Etsy store might be the only place that you can buy this USBC on one side and then this is the jst plug that connects
[00:07:26] to a bunch of the new BetaFPV aios that have ditched the big tall and heavy USB port so I actually really like this all the way up until the point that this piece gets lost and then you
[00:07:43] can't hook this thing up so if you're going to get one of these when you buy the BetaFPV aiio that have the jst plug rather than the USB they all come with these when you buy the bind
[00:07:56] and flies they come with these so try to try to score yourself a second one of these as soon as you can and then when you lose your first one you'll hopefully have that second one forever
[00:08:09] because without this you can't hook this up to BetaFlight BetaFPV did sell this they did have this on their website previously as did Tiny whoop.com but we looked for them like last week
[00:08:24] and couldn't find them so if you can get your hands on an extra one of these definitely do it like I said I might still have one in stock on my Etsy store stalk my Etsy store and eventually
[00:08:35] you'll find one of these extra canopy and the little card for with the instruction manual which we will of course ignore because we're professionals and an extra couple of
[00:08:50] motor screws pretty standard stuff If we're honest but nothing wrong with that all right so get this out of the way get this extra canopy out of the way it comes with an air 65 Frame in blue and then
[00:09:10] the clear canopy whip antenna CO3 camera this is the air 65 5 in1 AO this is not the Matrix AIO this is the direct solder one this is the lightweight aiio this is the AO that a lot of people have
[00:09:28] had an issue myself included with the UFL popping off so we are going to change the antenna on this maybe we're not I would really like to change the antenna on this to an O
[00:09:47] micro the problem with doing that is I'm going to have to remove this UFL now there's a chance that that UFL is going to rip off when I do that if it doesn't rip off
[00:10:00] the ort micro V antenna if I want to run it through the hole in this canopy which I kind of want to the the micro the head of the micro V do I not have one how do I not have
[00:10:19] one I ordered like 7,000 of them to sell on the Etsy store SE fpv.one is how I keep doing this full time where is the little bag of ort micro for there we go there they are so
[00:10:42] I would love to move this over to one of these fancy little white micro's but the problem with doing that is the head on the micro I've never flown a fixed wing thrash is bigger than the hole in the
[00:11:05] canopy so in order to install this micro I'm going to have to feed the UFL through the hole in the canopy and then plug it in every single time I want to remove the ant the the canopy if I if I ever
[00:11:22] want to remove this canopy like let's say this canopy breaks I'm going to have to unplug this RT micro and again the the UFL port on these ultr light this is a problem that
[00:11:37] plagues all of the ultr light aios the air 65 4-1 5-1 and the mobula 6 2024 they in order to save weight they reduced the thickness of the PCB in the process of doing that the UFL that's
[00:11:54] soldered down to the board that you can't really reinforce becomes kind of fragile and so every single time you unplug the the UFL VTX antenna from all of these ultra light
[00:12:08] ultra thin boards there's a chance you're going to rip that UFL off you rip that UFL off and it's game over these things have a built-in VTX that's kind of like the whole point and so as much
[00:12:22] as I want to run this awesome little micro antenna locks me in to this canopy these BetaFPV banana hammock canopies are very strong and very light I don't love them though they
[00:12:42] don't do the best job of keeping the camera from rotating which is kind of a pain I could certainly just put a dab of E6000 to fix that issue but these canopies do break if you hit them hard
[00:12:58] enough and so if this canopy is to break once I first off like I mentioned just unplugging this whip antenna I might rip this UFL off if I don't then I plug in this micro antenna and if the canopy
[00:13:15] never breaks and if I decide to never change the canopy never change the camera right that kind of thing I'm good to go but if I decide to change the canopy or the camera or any of that
[00:13:25] stuff I'm going to have to unplug this right makes sense and so I don't think I'm going to do it I think what I'm going to do is show you guys how to modify and ruin the
[00:13:38] performance of the stock whip antenna because the whip antenna fits through the hole in the canopy and so you can just leave this whip antenna plugged in here put a blob of E6000 on
[00:13:57] top of the UFL which is going to help it not rip off but the main thing is that you're never going to unplug this antenna right this this UFL antenna is basically like permanently
[00:14:08] attached to this thing that's what I did on the air 65 race and I feel like that's what I should do with this guy as well I'm very tempted to like I said switch it out because this micro this
[00:14:30] ort micro antenna is genius the the performance is outstanding it's very lightweight it's very strong but this is an indoor only tiny whoop and so putting a fancy antenna on it doesn't really
[00:14:46] have much of a benefit since you're only typically going to be flying it like really close to yourself what I'm saying and so I'm going to do what I suggest that you do if you buy an
[00:14:59] air 65 which is to not unplug this antenna just pretend that this this whip antenna is permanently affixed I'm not going to put the U the the E6000 on here yet because it takes like 24
[00:15:15] hours to cure but when I'm done flying this thing I am going to put a blob of E6000 on this antenna which will help the you can rip this UFL off the board without even unplugging the
[00:15:29] antenna and so a nice big blob of E6000 over top of the antenna will help everything kind of stay together and it will help that UFL stay attached to the board hopefully forever and then if
[00:15:45] you want to save weight I'm going to show you how to save weight which is to modify the uh the whip antenna although I showed you how to do that on the air 65 race do I really need to show
[00:15:59] you again where speaking of where is the air 65 race let's weigh these two things let's get a little comparison going so I'm sorry not race Champion Edition sorry sorry sorry sorry Champion
[00:16:12] Edition so the Champion Edition I removed the ground plane from the antenna here to make the antenna super super super lightweight and then after the stream that I reviewed it I put a
[00:16:30] blob of E6000 there on the UFL and it's been totally fine I've flown this thing a bunch you can see how beat up sort of the ducts are I've changed the propellers other than that that's that's
[00:16:43] it that's all I've really done to this this is on the version two Motors as well but they're slightly higher KV you can tell they're the version two by that big Roman numeral 2 there see it down
[00:16:56] the bottom and so these motors are a little bit more powerful than these These are the race spec motors which are see there's the Roman numeral 2 the KV is
[00:17:13] 27,000 so we're going to fly both of these rigs tonight but right now I want to actually weigh these I want to see if there will be a difference in weight I want to see what it is the
[00:17:26] the aios on these two things are exactly the same let me put this down this is silly the the frame AO camera canopy are all exactly the same Champions got 30,000 KV Motors this has
[00:17:48] 27,000 KV Motors at the moment this is on the props that it came with I did fly this on the props that it came with but then I moved it over to these by blades let's take a look at what what
[00:17:59] these two weigh the the propellers are going to shift the weight a little bit between these two the ground plane being removed from the antenna is also going to affect the
[00:18:16] weight but let's just see Champion Edition with couple of little upgrades 17.2 gam air 65 race 17.2 GRS 17.22% it's on by blades instead of Tri blades and the ground plane has been removed
[00:19:04] from the antenna yes it's got a little bit of E6000 on it what what's happening they're both direct soldered the aios are the same the frame is the same air 65 Frame what canopy is the same camera is the
[00:19:41] same what's H what What's Happening Here is the scale broken what's the wandering whoop way wandering whoop weighs 18.6 gram what 177.2600 there we
[00:20:08] go there should be a bigger difference in weight between these two your guess is as good as mine that's very confusing I don't I don't know what to say I I
[00:20:33] there the AI every single chip is in the exact same spot on the AIO maybe maybe the aiio and the Champion Edition is a little bit heavier wow that's super weird I I I
[00:20:56] I don't know somebody says motor windings if anything the motors should be lighter on the champion because it's a higher KV motor higher KV motor means less winds on the motor the only way
[00:21:10] that these motors would be heavier is if the thickness of the winding material went up on these higher KV motors which is what they're supposed to do but also it's supposed to just offset the fact
[00:21:25] that there's less winds but that could totally be it's could be something as simple as the motor wires or a little bit longer on the on the Champion
[00:21:38] Edition it could be the battery lead as a little bit longer super interesting okay well I want to make the the air 65 race I want to make this lighter I think I'm actually going to even do
[00:22:05] two on each motor two out of three Peak screws the plastic screws that's what I did with the Prototype that they sent me way long ago and because the Champions got the extra
[00:22:25] power of the 30,000 KV Motors the race is only on 27,000 so if you've got a less powerful rig it makes sense to try to lighten it up as much as possible so that's what we're
[00:22:40] going to do tonight here super interesting that even after some lightweight stuff this thing is is heavier huh somebody on Discord just weighed their air 65 champion and
[00:22:56] theirs is totally stock it looks like and it's 17.65 17.66% what is the what is the ground plane on the antenna that's the big booger it's not a booger but that's the big thick part on the antenna where
[00:23:38] it gets it gets beefier here it makes the antenna perform better basically you've got your active element that goes upwards on the antenna and then the ground plane goes downwards these
[00:23:53] antennas work without the ground plane and the ground plane weighs like 02 or maybe even3 of a gram and so if you're just going to be flying around the house you can absolutely remove the
[00:24:05] ground plane and you'll be totally fine and you can benefit from the slightly lighter weight oh it's the motors no no they're both on the V2 Motors I was going to say one of these
[00:24:18] is on the V1 Motors one is on the V2 but no they're both on the V2 Motors I don't know where the difference in weight is but one of the super popular ways that
[00:24:29] Racers lighten up the the lightest weight antenna setup that a lot of racers run is a whip antenna with the ground plane removed and most of us have a million of these whip antennas floating around
[00:24:47] and so it's a it's a really nice kind of thing to do again if you're going to be flying around the house if you're going to be doing like cinematic analog flying or if you're going to fly out
[00:24:58] side don't do it because it really does hurt the performance of the antenna what I am not going to make this antenna ultra light I'm going to show you guys how to
[00:25:16] do it I have another antenna sitting right here that I'm GNA I'm going to show you guys how to do it with but I'm going to leave this antenna on because there's a really cool situation that I
[00:25:30] find myself in both of these things weigh exactly the same and because of that these are a really good test bed for 27,000 KV BetaFPV Motors versus 30,000 KV BetaFPV
[00:25:47] Motors so I'm going to leave this air 65 alone in terms of all up weight for the moment we are going to make this antenna ultra light and so if you want to do that on
[00:26:04] your air 65 you'll know how I just noticed something who can tell me what's wrong with this picture who who that has been paying attention lately can tell me what's wrong with
[00:26:24] this picture I'm holding the rig perfectly even left to right see if you can see it from behind nah it's hard to see from behind you guys got it right out of the box the the camera
[00:26:50] is crooked you can really see it up on the top there see how crooked the camera is so let's fix that right away because that makes flying accurately incredibly difficult let's
[00:27:09] see if that nope still crooked they've got this screw cranked all the way down come on you rat bastard Focus there it is so the screw on the bottom keeps it from rotating they've got that
[00:27:28] cranked all the way down I actually have to loosen that up to be able to try to deify this camera this is a part of the problem when you tighten this screw up it rotates the camera a little bit
[00:27:42] and so you can get the camera rotated perfectly but then when you tighten that screw up it affects it a little bit so you got to kind of go back and forth back and forth back and forth
[00:27:59] so let's see come on focus on this you jerk here we go oh my God I made it worse I made it way worse how did I make it way worse all right let's try again oh okay it's because when I
[00:28:28] loosen this up there's there's tension on the camera from probably the camera wires and when I loosen the screw up it that tension like unleashes the Beast all right let's see if I can get
[00:28:52] this come on that might be a little bit better nope they really need to put I mean they probably have a million of these canopies and there's no way for them to okay
[00:29:17] apparently this goddamn camera is just never going to focus again come on man please there's so much contrast for you to focus on you donkey come on Donkey brain I think I
[00:29:32] can see that it's not really level it's level in the opposite direction this time though let me just try to kind of force it h okay there we go I think I got it that
[00:29:48] time it's about as good as I'm going to get it I think I mean it's the first time I crash it's just going to move again anyway so kind of is what it is but man that's
[00:30:08] I mean on one hand I want to say like oh you would think that out of the box the camera would be straight but they don't have a way they don't have a great way of getting it rotated properly at
[00:30:19] the factory right like we're we're as we're paying more attention than they probably are they're making a million of these all they needed to do the the the
[00:30:34] base of the lens has a square part to it all they needed to do was mold into the plastic of the canopy just a little a little one of these and then the camera would would slot
[00:30:47] right in there and be absolutely perfect but they didn't the other problem though with these banana hammock canopies is that they're they're they're riant upon the plastic bending like this and like
[00:31:03] if you store this in a box that's like pushing the plastic to the side it's going to like have a memory to that and so getting the camera level in the canopy doesn't necessarily mean that
[00:31:18] the camera is going to be level on the quad itself when you're actually flying it this is just a this is a tough way of holding the camera the old school mobula 6 canopy
[00:31:37] is really the way to go it doesn't it's strong enough that it's not going to warp it's not like under tension there's no plastic that's bending 180° it's just it's a solid
[00:31:52] chunk of plastic that either sits properly or is broken and you can tell if it's broken by just kind of looking at it I I think I've got this camera relatively level so let's
[00:32:07] push forward but definitely check for that hold it up as level as you possibly can put it down on your desk and just eyeball it and try to make sure that that camera is completely level if your
[00:32:21] camera has rotated every time you try to fly straight you're going to be crabbing to the side and the better you are as a pilot the more sensitive you're going to be to leveling The Horizon perfectly
[00:32:32] flat because the flatter you level The Horizon the straighter the rig is going to go and if you're doing stuff like power loops and Matty flips that becomes really really important when you're
[00:32:41] going Full Throttle not looking at anything you need to level the Horizon before you start these moves the props are pushed almost all the way down not quite but these props are probably coming
[00:32:58] off of it anyway let's begin the madness USBC to jst dongle plugging that in and then we're going to plug this jst into the bottom of the air 65 V2 LEDs come
[00:33:23] on and let's see how long BetaFlight takes to open let's see how long come on BET whoa that was pretty good click connect oh it's on 4.5 that's pretty awesome does that mean that I can
[00:33:40] just type in my binding phrase of course it doesn't if you're using binding phrases if you're if your elrs module or transmitter is set up with binding phrases I do read the comments
[00:33:58] section Gusto but I have to batch it out I've already ordered a qx7 it might have been your comment but I I I the I I like so I I'm looking for the old school FR Sky case for the
[00:34:20] qx7 and I'm like asking you guys like hey if anybody's ever seen it if you have like a friend that might have one let me know and buy it from them or you can just go on FR Sky's website
[00:34:34] because they still sell it so I have a brand new one coming and it's like 30 bucks so I have a brand new one coming if you are using binding phrases on your
[00:34:50] transmitter or module the bind functionality in the leis script will give you an error message it doesn't work if you have a module that has a screen on it like the
[00:35:06] namino you can navigate through that screen into bind mode and you can use the bind mode in there if you just want to do like a quick bind on the on the quad right plug and unplug three times
[00:35:20] and so that's something that's been tripping me up that I learned something about very recently so in order so since I'm using a nomad module here with no screen the
[00:35:35] elrs won't work to bind this thing so I need to either hook this up to the computer here and then go to the elrs web flashing tool which works really really well or what somebody in my
[00:35:52] Tokyo in my Discord was like dude why don't you just use your phone why don't you just let it go into Wi-Fi mode and use use your phone I never thought to do that I've only ever tried Wi-Fi mode
[00:36:02] here on my desktop and on my laptop and for whatever reason it just never works so this thing is in Wi-Fi mode right now I'm going to try it on my phone so I'm going to go to
[00:36:14] settings and then WiFi Express lrs receiver and now let's see what happens apparently it has weak security it's giving me the little pin wheel pin wheel pin wheel pin
[00:36:35] wheel I think it should pop up and prompt me right come on all right it's connect y there it is yep captive Wi-Fi here we go look at that I'll be damned binding
[00:37:01] phrase CiottiFPV serial protocol whatever model match nope Force symetry off nope save configuration updated good to go that's maddening I can see that it's on 3.5.3 which is
[00:37:34] great this thing is like on all brand new stuff okay cancel use other network connected back up to the home network turning on my trans I probably have to power cycle it but let's just
[00:37:54] see turning on my transmitter showing you guys BetaFlight testing warning powering up the module I have to power cycle it let's power cycle
[00:38:15] it I hope it didn't work God damn it's worked well there you go okay well that's outrageously easy and I just I never thought to do it on my phone I I it just it never the
[00:38:40] it the thought never crossed my mind to do it on my phone I I I used WiFi I used the Wi-Fi setup like one time really early days with my laptop and it worked and I was like oh
[00:38:55] my God this is great we're going like years back now and then for whatever reason it just never worked again and same thing on this on this desktop it just it would not work many many a
[00:39:09] live stream you guys would see me go through the proper steps and it just wouldn't work no idea why uh and wow that's pretty cool so there you guys
[00:39:24] go I will say that elrs has is really with with elrs 3.4 they made like a major effort to make everything about elrs a lot easier and they did a really really really good
[00:39:41] job but what I just did I could probably have done for the past like two plus years I just it just never occurred to me to use the Wi-Fi on my phone so there we
[00:39:59] go James Thomas says can you make me a recommendation on a power and efficiency runtime prop for wingman fractal 3in get BARC smart 35 3.5 not really I'm not an efficiency
[00:40:16] runtime guy I build and fly setups that sacrifice efficiency and runtime for performance but the main thing that gives you efficiency and runtime is bigger diameter
[00:40:32] propellers lighter weight propellers and low pitch propellers so and props are incredibly inexpensive so just look for those three things and buy a bunch of different propellers spend like 20 30
[00:40:48] bucks on a bunch of different props that fit those three criteria and then do your own testing you're the there aren't there's not tons of info on like what the most efficient 3in 3
[00:41:02] and 1 half inch prop is most people that really want long range stuff go up to like four or five or six or seven so I don't have like a resource that I can send you to where somebody's going to be
[00:41:13] like yes I've tested all the 3inch props and here's the most efficient but when you go by those three criteria also as little as few blades as possible which basically means by blade and so
[00:41:27] with those four criteria kind of three kind of four there's going to be like three or four propeller options and so just buy them all do some runtime testing and Away you shall go
[00:41:40] but if you get like the widest diameter lowest pitch lowest blade count lightest weight propeller if you can only buy one prop and you you do those four things that'll be either the most efficient or the
[00:41:54] second most efficient kind of propeller option for you so there you go back to the setup of the air 65 like I said earlier this is going to be a shorter live stream I am going to
[00:42:08] miss comments in the chat I'm doing my best but yeah I I want to get this thing set up in the air talk about upgrades change the propellers compare it to the champion and so we got a
[00:42:20] boogie if we're going to get all that stuff done dead band of four Stick low of thresh stick low threshold of a th000 stick high threshold of 2,000 we will check to make sure that's going to be
[00:42:32] okay sticks both sticks bottom left all the top four numbers are less than a th000 that's great both sticks top right all the numbers are above 2,000 that means I can use those high and lows and
[00:42:45] be good to go you can see this Jitter here this is jittering from 1,500 to 152 this is jittering from 1500 down to 1497 this is jittering from is jittering a bunch actually on
[00:43:01] y'all y'all always Jitters the worst it's jittering down to 1492 let me make sure that it's trimmed out properly that's trim Center I'm actually going to trim it up a little bit this
[00:43:16] Jitter that you're seeing is how you set your dead band I've got from 1500 to 1502 I also saw a three there that that's three points of Jitter this is jumping down to 1497 that's three points of Jitter
[00:43:34] this is going from, 1500 to 1498 that's two points a Jitter so we've got three three Jitter points total as the highest so we're going to put the dead band to a value of four if your gimbals
[00:43:49] are not like beaten to Hell putting your dead band to four is a really safe bet what this does is because of that Jitter I've used that dead band so that BetaFlight knows to
[00:44:04] not react to that Jitter at all and so there are four points in the middle of the stick travel where it's not going to do anything is that four points up and four points
[00:44:16] down Us by how much the RC can differ before it's considered valid for transmitters with Jitter on outputs this value can be increased it doesn't say if that's four up and four down or two up and two down
[00:44:29] right four points total I'm going to assume that it's four up and four down it's not a big deal but it's just one of these things most transmitters most gimbals have a little bit of Jitter
[00:44:41] that's going to feed into the pit Loop and the pit Loop is constantly going to be jittering back and forth with it a little bit's not a super big deal because it's just the tiniest little
[00:44:50] amount right we're going from a th000 to 2,000 I'm sorry we're going from 1, 1500 to 2,000 and from, 1500 down to 1,000 so we've got 1,000 points of travel 1,000 steps and it's only
[00:45:08] jittering four three or four and so it's the tiniest little bit but we're in here and it's super easy to do it and so if you want it to be completely clean put a little bit of deadband
[00:45:19] in everything else in here is good to go we're going to click save that's going to lock everything in first things first couple come up on the top here and hold the quad and go nose down
[00:45:30] nose up roll left roll right ya'all left y'all right make sure that what you're doing physically with it is being matched on the screen it is indeed we are good to go ports tab you don't need
[00:45:41] to change anything because it's a binding fly for the love of God you've bought a BNF do not update it bind it and fly it you're going to have to do a bunch of this stuff that I'm
[00:45:54] doing but do not buy a BNF and then update it's does not do anything good for you it wipes out any specific stuff that they've put on here do what it says bind it do the bare minimum
[00:46:08] setup and fly it don't update it's such a silly idea to from BetaFlight 4.2 to current 4.5 very little has changed you are going to get almost zero benefit in terms of flight quality or anything else
[00:46:28] that you're going to notice by updating even an older BNF rig that's on 4.2 don't do it leave it alone and fly it cool ports tab it's a BNF so everything is set up
[00:46:44] configuration 8K 4K that's great that means that it's not a BMI 270 it's probably an IMU 26 20 28 268 28 680 680 68 68 268 68 6 69 696969 this is all looking good dshot
[00:47:06] Beacon is turned on that's great air mode permanent that's great OSD is turned on that's great maximum arming angle 180 perfect save and reboot because I did I did type my name in
[00:47:17] there for the craft name or the pilot name I forget which one doesn't matter power and Battery the maximum cell voltage is correct but the minimum and the warning cell voltages are a little bit High
[00:47:31] let's move these down a little bit minimum cell voltage is 3.3 let's bring it down to 3.2 3.2 warning cell voltage is 3.4 five I'm actually going to leave that at 3.45
[00:47:49] no I'm going to leave it at 3.45 everything else is good to go because it's a BNF fail safe it's a tiny whoop so I move the period of time in stage one fail safe from 1 and
[00:48:02] 1/2 seconds to 3 seconds again it's a tiny whoop it's not going to hurt a fly basically what that does is if the the quad loses connection to the transmitter it is going to hold the last value that
[00:48:15] it got for whatever that amount of time is so if this goes into fail safe it's going to have three full seconds of doing whatever it was doing from the last packet of data that it got and so
[00:48:26] hopefully it'll just keep flying straight and get past whatever is blocking the signal and then I'll get control back on bigger quads leave it at one and a half it's safer for them to
[00:48:38] fall out of the sky than for them to uh get stuck in somebody's hair at the same uh throttle value that it was at for three full seconds I'm actually going usually
[00:48:55] what I do in the Pres sets is I'll do Express lrs I'm going to do it I run my Express lrs on 250 HZ so I select this one and then I do this HD freestyle here this adds a little bit of stick
[00:49:09] smoothing to make the footage look a little bit better you sacrifice a little bit of this adds a little bit of latency but it Smooths everything out a little bit so your flying will look
[00:49:22] better I don't really notice the little bit of extra latency that it adds save and reboot it also optimizes a bunch of things for the specific 250 HZ elrs packet
[00:49:37] rate reconnect we're done in the presets we're going to skip pit tuning for the moment we already did the receiver tab modes tab arm is correct angle mode I'm going to turn off Horizon mode is
[00:49:50] going to be aux 2 in the up switch position which it's in right now beeper these are my specific settings don't run these settings you should have your own settings beeper ax
[00:50:01] 3 all the way down flip over after crash aux 3 in the middle why on Earth would they oh they had it set in the middle that's that they they need to reverse these it's a better idea to have flip
[00:50:14] over crash in the middle and then beeper in the opposite switch position launch control for fun aux 2 in the middle and then my super secret clean OSD but still getting warning set up is to
[00:50:34] enable here aux 2 full range OSD profile selection aux 2 save this is now going to on my aux 2 switch this is going to change my OSD profile between 1 2 and three and then
[00:50:56] in your your OSD you've got three separate OSD setups so you can move this switch and change your OSD elements for one two and three switch positions what I do is numbers one and two are full OSD
[00:51:14] but then number three is clean OSD with warnings so it's totally clean until the end of the battery and then it'll give me a low battery warning so I don't ruin the battery but if I'm recording DV R
[00:51:27] cuz I'm going to do an analog edit's doesn't have the ugly OSD all over it I have behind my little face here I have a chunk of CLI stuff the first of which is Crash recovery the
[00:51:46] second of which is my analog OSD setup and so what I'm doing is I'm just copying these and then pasting them directly in and now I'm going to type save and now all of my OSD stuff and
[00:51:58] crash recovery have been enabled go back into the OSD just to make sure that everything looks good see and it and it doesn't it when when you do that from the CLI it doesn't turn
[00:52:12] stuff off in the OSD I don't usually run this this is the full battery voltage this is turned on by default I need to physically turn that off same thing with the crosshairs turn that [@$#%] off and you
[00:52:27] can see my OSD profile right I've got link quality on profiles one and two all these different things craft name on one and two but three is empty until you get all the way
[00:52:39] down to warnings warnings I've got all three checked so this is the only thing that's on in switch position 3 that's how you get a clean OSD
[00:52:53] with clean OSD with warning so you don't wreck your batteries th FV says what's the difference between scale and clip throttle limit percentage which case is the best for what setting hover
[00:53:07] your Mouse pointer over the question mark the tool tip to the right of it and it'll explain it I forget which one is which but the tool tip is really good battery capacity 300 RSSI
[00:53:20] altitude whatever that's all nonsense all right good to go so that's the OSD setup Motors we need to plug a battery in for so well no we don't because this is a bind and fly
[00:53:34] the motors are going to be spinning the right direction we don't have to do a damn thing this is all good to go what I do want to do though is go into ESC configurator but we're going to do
[00:53:45] that after we finish up here so we skipped pit tuning we hit the receiver tab we hit the modes tab we hit the adjustments tab Motors tab we don't need to touch other than the fact that this
[00:53:57] is set up props out which I don't love but we're going to fix that when I change the propellers so we'll leave this all alone it's a BNF bind it and fly it OSD I changed over to my
[00:54:08] settings video transmitter it's a BNF luckily I run raceband 8 which is what they ship these things on power 25 mws perfect for inside the house but low power disarm is a really
[00:54:20] nice setting turn it to on until first arm this way when you plug the quad in it won't go to full I mean it doesn't really matter if you're running it on 25 M but if you've
[00:54:30] got this thing set to 400 m when you first plug the battery in it's going to keep it at the lowest setting until you arm it and then it'll bounce it up to a million billion
[00:54:41] gigawatts sensors we don't use blackbox oh this has blackbox onboard flash 1K gyos scale they've got this all set up properly and there's a they they no they might have they might have flown
[00:54:58] it to blackbox it we're going to erase it I don't care thrash FV says when I grab OSD settings from AIO dump all the elements save but not where they are on the screen what am I
[00:55:14] missing oh God try diff space all I think that's what you need I think you need to do diff all thrash can you do me a favor and can you check that for me Albin Hawk says which is better
[00:55:35] mobula 6 2024 or air 65 in FPV as with most things in life there is typically not a better there's just different the air 65 is better for someone that doesn't want to do many
[00:55:49] upgrades the mobul 6 2024 is better for someone that wants to go down the rabbit hole and potenti like upgrade everything air 65 has Motors that are direct soldered which are a total pain
[00:56:02] to swap out Mob 62024 has motor plugs they're both absolutely fantastic they both on both of them you do not want to unplug the UFL antenna unless you absolutely have to there's a decent
[00:56:18] chance that you will rip the UFL off and destroy the aiio so just assume that the antenna that they come with is direct soldered and just it's the antenna that that thing will live with forever that
[00:56:30] is the best thing that you can do for durability on these they're both fantastic rigs yeah it's all about how much upgrading you want to or not to do blackbox is all set now CLI we
[00:56:46] don't need to do anything magical we are good to fly no we're not good to fly yet we're going to go into the pit tuning I'm Gonna Leave This stock tune and then we're going to potentially
[00:56:57] improve this tune tonight but before we do that I just want to move this Dynamic damping up to 30 anti-gravity looks good iterm relax we're going to move this from 15
[00:57:10] down to 10 because I fly freestyle 15 is more of a race setting everything else is good to go click save I am going to go over here into the rate profile actual rates are turned on
[00:57:22] by default that's fantastic these are my specific rates don't run these rates figure out your own lots of great videos here on YouTube talking about how to set rates I did a live stream one week ago
[00:57:33] where we really dove into rates throttle Expo I'm going to put just a little bit I have another live stream talking about this if you don't if you're not willing to sit down and
[00:57:42] listen to me talk about it for 45 minutes in that live stream and actually understand it do not use it you will almost definitely make it worse then better if you don't understand throttle
[00:57:52] Expo do not use it you will make the situ ation far worse I promise filter settings we are going to leave alone because again we're going to try to improve the tune on this so we
[00:58:06] are good to go we're going to disconnect I do want to take a look at what blue J firmware this thing is on so we're going to come in here to escc configurator docomo Port BetaFlight connect connect
[00:58:27] read setup in the bottom right I have to turn my transmitter off because elrs for some strange reason interferes with this so it is on blue j19 and the ESC is
[00:58:45] ax5 I'm going to update this to the I'm not going to go back to my favorite old school .16 version I'm going to update this to the newest version you do not have to do
[00:58:57] this but I'm going to do it reverse normal normal reversed it'll hang on to that if you're a total nerd feel free to do this oh what it comes on 96 kilohertz that sucks you should do
[00:59:15] this even if you're not a total nerd you should do exactly what I just did go to escc configurator tocom click on flash all esc's select the newest version which is
[00:59:28] 0.210 and then select 48 khz rather than 96 48 kertz has much better motor breaking but not quite as much thrust motor breaking gives you a much better freestyle rig than just a little
[00:59:46] bit of extra thrust a little bit of extra efficiency on 96k 48 khz will things like when you when you flip this thing over like if you're going to do a split s through
[00:59:58] like a gap on 96k it's going to flip it's going to turn over like this and so if if you've got the Gap lined up here if you've got the L if my face is the gap on 96k you're going to have to line
[01:00:12] the Gap up over here because when you turn it over it's going to do that because there's not a lot of motor breaking on this side it's just extra thrust and that's going to make it do
[01:00:23] this motion on 48k you can fly right at the Gap it's going to break these motors down more and it's going to kind of rotate on its own axis rather than rotating like
[01:00:35] this and we are good to go while you're at it crank this minimum startup power up a little bit I like 1100 and 1,200 cuz they're nice round numbers motor timing medium is what
[01:00:50] Chris roster says is the best motor timing leave the rest of this stuff alone up on top here beep strength and Beacon strength turn these up a little bit the little ESC beeper on
[01:01:00] these tiny whoops is extremely quiet when you're looking for it's nice to have that beeper so bump these beep strength and Beacon strengths up to 150 Beacon delay set this to two minutes if
[01:01:13] you plug it in and you leave it alone for two minutes it'll start beeping like hey dummy I'm getting too hot over here do something about it ESC power rating put it to 1x yes
[01:01:27] temperature protection is disabled that's interesting usually it's on I like to turn on break on stop it just when you disarm it's stops the motors as quickly as it can God forbid it's
[01:01:37] stuck in somebody's hair and then right settings and that is a full setup you should not do anything more than that when you get a BNF for the love of God stop updating bind and flies
[01:01:54] you're paying for work that the manufacturer did and then you're deleting a bunch of that work by updating it and you're getting Zero Performance benefit don't do it bind it
[01:02:06] and fly it there are certain things that you have to do a lot of that stuff I just did you don't have to do you certainly can if you're a nerd it's going to make it
[01:02:17] Fly 2% better maybe but again you do not have to we've got video let's see how level I've managed to get the camera not bad the I used the the horizontal lines of the
[01:02:40] of the toolbox here and that's pretty that's pretty straight it was not straight it was visibly crooked out of the box look terrible says I look like a prisoner from Alcatraz
[01:03:02] H screw you I like this shirt the buttons on this shirt are very cool looking all right elrs is in the process of connecting so there's my no OSD setup switch
[01:03:20] position here's my full OSD so this is on GemFan 1219 s's whoa tune is struggling got hung up on the crash symbol there the tune is a little bit on The Struggle Bus and
[01:03:48] I am Tangled Up in the drum set bear with me so so I changed from 96 khz to 48 that could be a part of the reason that the tune is a little bit off it's tuned for 96 96 you get a little bit more
[01:04:12] thrust but a little bit less breaking motor breaking we are going to retune this thing anyway one of the reasons that I say don't necessarily make all those changes is because of exactly this I'm going
[01:04:29] to retune this thing and so for me it's fine to make all those changes ah I tried to really cut that corner tight but if you're not going to like completely Reet
[01:04:44] boy if you're not going to completely retune it maybe don't make all those changes wow okay I'm going to have to go get it's is okay battery's getting a little low I'm trying to like rush to get it back
[01:05:00] here okay that battery was like half discharged because it was sitting here plugged in and all that nonsense so I just wanted to get that out of the way to uh to get an initial look we're
[01:05:15] going to run a 300 mAh battery on it also that was a 260 mAh battery which is a little bit lighter they almost certainly have it tuned with 300 mAh batteries this is the actual test
[01:05:29] stock tune my rates stock filtering we've changed from 96k to 48k so if the tune is off it could be because of that it could just be a soft tune from the factory they typically
[01:05:43] with BNF's don't tune them to the absolute bitter Edge so it's tuned for 300 mhh battery batteries 300 M batteries also sag a lot less every once in a while it's got a
[01:06:04] really weird little wobble and I'm flying really erratically because I'm trying to bring that out it's only done at once on this battery I'm really pushing it
[01:06:20] hard it's doing a really good job eating the prop wash this tune is not bad B there's just every once in a while ah every once in a while I'm getting like a big wobble this tune is really decent though
[01:06:41] I'm impressed there are two pit tunes on this one for these propellers and one for the HQ ultral light props which is really really cool I don't know of any other find and fly that's ever done
[01:06:58] that I really this tune is really decent we're going to take a look at this tune in a little bit Ah I got greedy we're gonna actually after this battery we're going
[01:07:10] to take a look at this tune where's Teddy at man where's my oh let's see how he likes the air 65 version too oh he hates it oh he hates it he's protecting the kids oh oh Teddy
[01:07:28] Spaghetti O oh oh come on buddy come on keep chasing oh God I gotta get back a I'm trying to do I'm trying to Cork screw down the stairs as if this is an 18 G rig but it's not it's a 17 G rig
[01:07:50] that's why I keep hitting the inside of the door there oh don't do this don't don't do it don't that's the goggle battery going dead wow this fly is really good out of
[01:08:06] the box holy cow maybe I won't change the tune maybe I will leave it alone and we will just change the propellers and we'll see how that affects the
[01:08:21] tune but let me actually just look at the tune first to see what they got going on to see what kind of Secrets I can steal from them it's doing a really good job
[01:08:34] eating the prop wash again these are 27,000 KB Motors Power is good it feels nice and light it flies great really really great actually let's see let's see what the situation is with
[01:08:51] the the pit tune here so we've got oh this is an aggressive tune look at you BetaFPV okay I like this man so we're looking at P gains up in the 60s and 7s D gains in the 40s and 50s they're
[01:09:16] even using a little bit of dmax I gains are where they normally should be 80s 90s 100s this is a pretty aggressive tune I don't love that they're using so much Master multiplier I prefer to to
[01:09:30] push these damping and tracking Sliders in instead of using the master multiplier the master the problem with using the master multiplier is that it pushes everything it pushes the feed
[01:09:40] forward the derivative the dmax the integral and the proportional you can get more control by using these sliders individually and you can make all those same adjustments but different people
[01:09:54] tune in in different ways they're also oh this is I'm actually really impressed by this tune so first we'll go top to bottom damping slider 1.1 awesome they've pushed it a little bit
[01:10:08] from the default of 1.0 tracking slider which controls p&i gains 1.1 awesome they pushed it a little bit feed forward slider is all the way down at zero which I like Racers won't Racers
[01:10:21] tend to use a bunch of feed forward I actually don't like feed forward makes it like kind of Twitchy and the flight footage doesn't look as good but so I'm going to leave it because I
[01:10:32] like low feed forward gains Dynamic damping dmax is only at 0.2 but the dmax is also getting a kick from this master multiplier being up at 1.25 so this is technically up at
[01:10:48] .45 which is pretty good but I'm going to move it all the way up to 1.0 I really like dmax and this increasing this dmax might fix that one weird Bobble issue that I was having
[01:11:00] we'll see in a minute drift wobble for I gains is at .8 which is down from 1.0 but again the master multiplier up at 1.25 is kicking this by 0.25 so this drift wobble I gain slider is actually
[01:11:17] at 1.05 I usually set this to 1.0 or 1.1 so this is as this is set up this is actually really really good pitch damping slider is all the way up at 1.2 that's actually more aggressive than
[01:11:31] what I put it I love it I usually put it at 1.1 I love that it's not at the default of 1.0 the pitch tracking slider is at 1.1 that's where I actually put it on my Tunes love it absolutely love this
[01:11:45] stock tune the my one little gripe Well my two little gripes are that there's not enough Dynamic damping but also that they're using the master multiplier instead of just these individual sliders
[01:11:57] but that that's less of a gripe and more just whoever tuned this has a specific way that they prefer doing it there's yeah it kind of is what it is I don't know why they've got no feed
[01:12:08] forward this is the race Edition I would think that they would have a lot of feed forward in it whoever is handling their tuning I guess they just don't like the way that feed forward feels or looks in
[01:12:18] the flight footage if you're going to race this thing I would push this feed forward up quite a bit maybe all the way up to 1.0 but I don't race so I'm going to leave it zeroed out save it good to
[01:12:30] go man I I changed barely anything so if you look here PID profile name PID profile one the name of the profile is 129s those are the propellers that this ships with watch this profile two is for the HQ
[01:12:48] YOLO props the Ultra Lights very very cool that they have a whole separate PID profile for different propellers let's see what's different about it let's go back to profile one back down to profile
[01:13:04] two back up to profile one wow there's more well I have changed profile one let me put it back well no just ignore the dmax ignore the dmax change because I did that pit profile two so
[01:13:23] the the top three sliders don't change the top four sliders don't change back up to profile one it's just the pitch damping and Pitch tracking that
[01:13:35] change which is kind of weird but I I love it I this is really really cool and this makes a lot of sense the HQ propeller is lighter weight and less pitchy because it's lighter weight it's
[01:13:52] going to have better response time the better your mechanical response time is the less pit gains you need and that's exactly what we're seeing here the pitch damping and Pitch tracking on
[01:14:06] the ultr light propeller PID profile is a little bit lower 1.1 and 1.05 when I go up to profile one for the 1219 s's both of those jump up a little bit and that's that absolutely makes
[01:14:23] sense really good oh also the eye gains the eye gains change a little bit they've actually got that's weird they've got more eye gain for the HQ props for the ultra light props I would
[01:14:35] think it well no I that's how quickly the iame accumulates I would think that that would be backwards but whatever this thing has Black Box what I can say looking at this is
[01:14:48] I can almost guarantee you that they've got someone tuning this that knows how to fly has been around for a little while and is using blackbox this is pretty obvious pretty excuse me pretty
[01:15:01] obviously a blackbox a tune that a tune that's been set up by using blackbox this is this is really really good this is this might be the best tuned BNF like ever I I don't really get many
[01:15:22] binding flies in but for from what I'm seeing there's someone that knows what they're doing tuning this and that's unfortunately kind of rare and they've got two different pit profiles for the
[01:15:35] two most popular propellers that's like that's a big deal I like I said I don't know of anybody else that's done that that's really really cool and so even if you're not going to run the
[01:15:49] HQ triblade YOLO props if you go to any of the props you're probably going to want to go to that pit profile too like for example the by blades which we might try out we're kind of running out of time
[01:16:06] what else is happening here I I did want to take a look at the filters boy they've got a lot of filtering on here well no they don't no they don't so they've got gyro low pass one wow no
[01:16:17] they do have a they have a lot of filtering on this thing a lot of filtering huh I'm going to leave it alone for now we're g to fly another battery and then I'm going to come back in and I'm going
[01:16:34] to try to take some take some filtering out I am super impressed though I'm going to do one thing that I know that I can do to the filtering right now we do not need three gyro RPM
[01:16:47] filter harmonics tiny whoops just they they just don't need it they only have one harmonic it's a plastic frame thing so I'm GNA make this one simple change to the filtering right now but
[01:17:00] that's it I'm not going to change anything else there's some really H I'm going to change one more thing sorry I'm going to bump this Max frequency up on the dynamic Notch filter these motors
[01:17:09] are pretty high KV I'm going to kick this up all the way to 800 it's not really going to affect the the latency at all because the higher the frequency the less CPU load and so
[01:17:24] moving that Max frequency up is going to basically accomplish it's going to do nothing negative because it's so easy to filter up really high but it's just God forbid at Full Throttle there's
[01:17:35] a little bit of a weird vibe it's going to let the the filters shift up a little bit more which on these really high KV setups every once in a while that helps but that's it I am blown away by how
[01:17:48] good the tune is by how much filtering there is on this too though another 300 ma let's go go to the 260 Mah batteries because that's where it was having the the hardest time with that
[01:18:00] weird wobble I added the dmax the changes that I made in the filtering will not have any effect I mean it's also an absolutely brand new rig maybe there was something stuck
[01:18:15] in a motor and it just needed to kind of work it out maybe the motors are just lapping the little bearings bushings in a little well no these are bearing Motors aren't they
[01:18:25] it could have been a number of odd little weird things I need to swap my goggle battery out because the beeping will drive me to drink and then that will give
[01:18:40] me bath too much bathroom time tomorrow that's the least gross way I could possibly say that I hope you appreciate it all right here we go let's see how the tune is so again
[01:19:06] all I really did was move the dmax up whoa ah I'm just trying to like all right so there's a little little little little little tiny Touch of prop wash if I really try but let's go upstairs upstairs is
[01:19:36] much harder in terms of prop wash because there's a lot more space Oh I almost dive bombed the goddamn dog [Laughter] kiddos are cooking I love it come on Teddy get
[01:20:01] it give Chase little buddy oh man oh no look out buddy boy he got me oh man he is aggressive tonight oh uhoh something ain't right hold on oh my God I am having the hardest time
[01:20:23] getting through this door way something ain't right oh boy it's is running away when I'm at zero throttle although now it's fine again let me just take a quick look at it just
[01:20:38] to make sure nothing's weird what was happening with you little buddy that was super strange I don't know what that was it was it was running away I thought maybe the like the
[01:20:58] battery was hanging down under it or something but then right as I flew back towards myself the frames fine the motors feel fine huh that was odd is the camera
[01:21:09] still Level kinda looks pretty level all right let's keep going that was interesting oh God [Laughter] I forgot the the lamp was right above me oh these little 260 Mah batteries are
[01:21:38] awesome because of how light they are but the runtime really suffers I thought I could kind of Oh I thought I could force it through that that gate
[01:21:50] but as with all things never force it friends never force it and I'm stuck between the gate and the window tune is dialed man absolutely dialed amazing job BetaFPV I'm I'm
[01:22:15] gonna tweak it a little bit but for most people there's no reason to mess with this tune this is really well done and these batteries are I'm sorry these motors make really
[01:22:32] good power these 260s that I'm running here have also been cycled a bunch of times and so they're not like fresh nonabused 260s and so don't judge the the the
[01:22:48] run times by what you're seeing here also these 300s don't don't judge any of these run times if if you've got fresh batteries you're going to get much better run times out of this thing that
[01:23:00] being said I find that if you're if you're interested in runtime the HappyModel Motors are really the way to go these BetaFPV Motors make great power but from like a but from a
[01:23:15] runtime standpoint they they're not quite as good as as HappyModel okay so I said this has a lot of filtering on it I think it has too much filtering on it first thing I'm going to
[01:23:31] do is rock this gyro filter multiplier all the way up don't turn it off but turn it all the way up next thing I'm going to do is oh I didn't save it when I moveed that Max frequency up that's annoying
[01:23:47] all right there we go the next thing I'm going to do is turn this D term up dterm slider up why is it not what's happening here what's going on why is it not what what's happening little
[01:24:12] fella let's dis okay well no I was going to say BetaFlight hung up but let's unplug and replug the whoop drone there we go that's better pin tuning filter settings okay let's try
[01:24:34] this again turn that all the way up and then I'm going to take this D term slider and move this up a little bit to 1.2 so 2.0 and 1.2 save it and then I'm going to
[01:24:47] change this Max frequency up to 800 here save that let me just disconnect and what's happening here why is it acting so weird what we power cycle it again connect pit tuning filter settings
[01:25:21] there we go it saved those two it's not wanting to save this Max frequency up to 800 for whatever reason what is that about when I change that Dynamic Notch Max frequency up to 800 it hangs
[01:25:46] everything up wow that's weird what is that what what's up with that I have never seen that before Brand's baked beans who is our resident tuning genius says to just
[01:26:15] leave it there's no resonances up that high with plastic frames anyway so the the the dynamic Notch really targets frame resonance and so we're just going to leave
[01:26:28] it but we made some pretty serious changes to the no they're not that serious changes the gyro filter does barely anything anyway the dterm filter multiplier we did move up to 1.2 that
[01:26:39] could potentially take a chunk of latency out of it so we did something we didn't do nothing but not a lot what I am going to do is just kick this this damping slider
[01:26:56] up a little bit to I got to be a little careful because they've got this pitch damping up at 1.2 let's do this I'm going to I'm going to put the pitch damping slider back
[01:27:11] down to 1.1 and then I'm going to make that change in the main damping slider here I'm going to move this up to I'm going to go all the way up to 1.4 actually this is going to add a bunch of
[01:27:26] Dain into it this is the ratio that I really like 1.4 1.1 or 1.3 1.0 basically I like the damping slider to be3 higher than the tracking slider that's prettyy aggressive but I just I like the way
[01:27:40] that what Dain does for the flight footage and it just gobbles up all the prop wash it's really really nice and then let me just take a look at the values here they're they're where I
[01:27:52] want it let's see if we've made it Angry we just removed a bunch of filtering and added a bunch of added a bunch of pit gain not a lot but some I'm going to go back to a 300 mAh battery the 300 Mah
[01:28:16] batteries make more power and that's what I'm kind of concerned with here I'm concerned that I'm going to push the the the a more powerful battery will have a shorter response time when you push the
[01:28:29] pids up that artificially shortens the response time so that's what I'm kind of worried the most about what's happening with the video it's coming through kind of
[01:28:43] there's like bands coming through it looks a little bit funky oh I know what's going on it's where I put this the elrs antenna I tried to tuck the Els antenna up in front of the
[01:28:59] in front of the camera and that's not a great idea so instead I'm going to jam it up here I don't love where they route the the way that they route the elrs antenna I I
[01:29:14] actually think that might have been a part of that weirdness that we saw all right that's a better spot for it that should be better let's see what the tune is going to
[01:29:28] do good to go and now any remote semblance of prop wash is completely gone this will probably not prop wash ever oh look at that look at that the tiniest little bit which I
[01:29:51] almost guarantee you did not not come through the live stream but this is now all the way dialed no reason to push this tune any further than it is right
[01:30:07] now ah now you can just worry about your flying it actually went through this gate for the record hey oh God oh look at it stop this this is all the way dialed now so at this point
[01:30:36] the only thing I'm not thrilled with is the response time of the mechanical system and what I mean by that is these GemFan 1219 props while they are incredibly durable and if if
[01:30:54] you want durability they are the prop for you they're a little bit heavy with durability comes extra weight as with as with revolvers the weight is a sign of
[01:31:11] durability oh God if it doesn't work you can hit him with it right a I don't know what I was doing there um I I've fallen in love with the lighter weight HQ props and so that's what we're
[01:31:30] going to do next is we're going to swap it over two minutes of runtime that battery was pretty freshly charged again these motors make great power these motors are only 27,000
[01:31:47] KV which actually pairs really well with with these high pitch 1219 propellers but I don't know I I I the the HQ props are significantly lighter weight and there's a crispness that
[01:32:08] comes from that that I've I I really really really like and why ever leave anything alone when you can modify all the things forever so I'm going to take my tiny whoop clone popper
[01:32:24] my favorite of the prop poppers here and I'm going to get these GemFan 1219 s's off of here we're going to go to the so the all of those changes that I made are good to go admittedly though this
[01:32:42] thing is now tuned closer to the edge of what's possible and so if I were to put 2030 batteries into this and smash the [@$#%] out of it and the prop started to get banged up the frame started to
[01:32:55] loosen up the motors start to get banged up with the tune where it's at now it's going to become unflyable earlier and so that's something that you have to really keep in mind because it does
[01:33:09] matter if you're going to push a tune like this you're giving yourself less headro for the mechanical system to get beat up this is absolutely brand new out of the box this is the cleanest that
[01:33:22] it's ever going to be and so if you're going to push a tune like this you have to be ready to back that tune off or replace components on a rig like this where the motors are
[01:33:34] direct soldered it's a total pain to replace the motors so maybe don't tune it the Out Of thebox Tune was really really good and the out of the boox tune is backed off a little bit with more head
[01:33:50] room so you can beat on it more before it starts to do weird stuff weird stuff is like you arm it and it tries to fly away on its own you blip the throttle and when you
[01:34:03] zero the throttle it's like has like a secondary like if you blip the throttle like this it should just jump up when it's starting to get beat up you'll blip the throttle it'll jump up and then
[01:34:14] it'll kind of like jump up again so it'll like when you chop the throttle it won't immediately drop elevation It'll like kind of slowly pop down or just every once in a while
[01:34:27] it'll just sort of like oscillate and fly around on its own that's that is either a tune that is too aggressive or overtuned or a mechanical system that's starting to get beat
[01:34:38] up those two things are directly related if you make the tune more aggressive you're giving less headro for the mechanical system to get beat up again the Out Of thebox Tune on this is
[01:34:50] unbelievably good one of if not the best I've ever seen I I'm really really impressed but we are going to go as opposite end of the spectrum on the propellers right now these GemFan
[01:35:04] 129s Tri blades are the heavier of the really really really good new generation of tiny whoop propellers they're also the most pitchy we're going to go all the way to the opposite end with an HQ
[01:35:20] ultr light byblade which is it's not the least pitchy but it is the lightest weight I've really fallen in love with these props on high KV Motors the reason I'm doing this is that these are not high KV
[01:35:36] Motors I wonder if this is going to have enough power for me and this is the easiest way to find that out I just dumped the rest of these propellers in my crotch we've got a high right a high
[01:35:49] left a high right and a high left there we go these propellers are going to give the absolute quickest response time well let's see I have not drilled this propeller out yet let's see how it
[01:36:10] fits on these BetaFPV Motors too tight HQ ultral light props I'm having to really push on this that's not good take it off and drill out on my Etsy store they might be out
[01:36:26] of stock right now but I think the I think I just need to put them back in stock I sell 1.5 mm and99 mm drill bits these drill bits are how you save40 plus dollars on your Motors because when
[01:36:47] you jam a propeller onto a motor really hard you're bending the motor shaft and you're also hurting the laser weld between the motor shaft and the motor Bell and you will eventually destroy
[01:37:02] that motor nobody sells individual Motors so when you destroy one of these motors it costs you40 plus dollars to buy a set of four instead of doing that send me $5 and I'll send you A99
[01:37:17] millimet drill bit this is called a pin Vise this is the coolest way to hold these drill bits I'm going to have pin VI available on the Etsy store very soon like within
[01:37:29] the next couple days if not tonight SE fpv.one don't do that hook a brother up buy a sticker when you're buying a drill bit or when you're buying anything from the Etsy Store buy one of my
[01:37:49] stickers and put it on something and then take a picture put that on Instagram tag me I'll put you in my story some people will find you and be likeyou look like a cool dude you'll
[01:38:01] make some more friends you'll learn some more things you'll live a better life a service that I provide free of charge not really you got to buy something you got to buy a sticker but
[01:38:13] it's a pretty good deal so there we go just I have very quickly very easily drilled out four different of these propellers the first time that you drill these propellers out you're going to do
[01:38:29] exactly what you just saw me do get the prop started and spin this thing spin the propeller all the way down to the base of the drill bit and then spin it back up off the drill bit this takes a
[01:38:42] tiny little bit of plastic off the inside of the propeller if that does not take enough plastic out you want to put the propeller on here and don't spin it and just force the propeller down and
[01:38:55] then pull the propeller back out when you pull the propeller back out you'll see a little cloud of white plastic when you spin it's takes like a nothing amount when you jam it down when you
[01:39:07] hand jam it and then hand yank it's removes more you'll figure out how many times you have to run a propeller for it to take enough plastic pretty quick and then you put it
[01:39:21] on here you get it started and you push I'm getting to the point where I'm having to start pushing hard my elbow is coming up that's too much you're pushing too hard at that
[01:39:39] point and you want to push the motor all the way down it's still a little bit too tight I believe all of these HQ YOLO ultral light props have the same diameter so all I'm
[01:39:55] going to do is put it on don't spin it push it down to the bottom pull it back out and that's going to take a much more significant amount of plastic out down to the
[01:40:10] bottom up and out what I usually do is one propeller until it fits properly and then just pay attention how many times I have to do this and then I'll do the rest of them I'm pretty sure that
[01:40:27] this is going to be good to go though sometimes you got to just kind of get it going but so I feel like it maybe helps to blow the little chunks of plastic out let's see this is a different
[01:40:46] propeller than I'm trying now you got to be really careful with these motor shafts guys they're the the 1 mm that's perfect the 1 mm Mot shafts are incredibly fragile you can very
[01:40:57] easily Bend one putting a propeller on and then say goodbye to that nice locked in pit tune I could actually run these one more time up and down the the the 099 mil
[01:41:13] drill bit but this is close enough I'm not having to push hard enough that I start making faces or lift my elbow or anything that it's an inexact science but look it's a 1 mm
[01:41:28] piece of metal it is not strong once you have one of these drill bits you'll start to learn what the right amount of force is there's no way for me to tell you that other than
[01:41:42] what I've said already you just need to do this a bunch of times you're going to ruin a propeller here and there but that's how you learn it you're going to drill a propeller out too much
[01:41:53] and then you're going to put it on you're going to be like o that was a little bit too loose when you put it down you'll figure it out the the BetaFPV motors have a
[01:42:06] slightly shorter motor shaft so you don't have to uh you don't impale your finger on them in the same way that you do with HappyModel Motors oh that batter's Dead all right so now we're going to run
[01:42:20] this thing on HQ 1.2 by 1.2 I believe they are by two they are by blades I'm going to run it on a 260 MH battery so this thing actually just got lighter these propellers are lighter and
[01:42:39] I'm going to put this lightweight battery on it transmitter over here let's see how it is let's see if I have if it has enough power with these itty bitty props whoa that was weird that was just me
[01:42:58] flying likeing idiot so look at the yaw look at how sharp that yaw is on the sticks this feels like I just added a whole bunch of feed forward we might even get some better run times now we
[01:43:15] should it's a byblade there is definitely less oh boy there is definitely a little bit less power but there's still enough power tiny whoop props are very inexpensive and so you
[01:43:33] should have a couple of sets of the 1219 s's these a the 1210 by blades from geman the HQ old school ultralite Tri blades the new ultral light Tri blades the 1.2x 0.9 by 3s
[01:43:53] and these by blades although I don't even know if you can get these by blades yet they might still be in they still might be in the prototyping kind of phase I really like these
[01:44:11] props I I like by blades on Tiny whoops for my flight style they they kind of float a little bit better we definitely did not get more run time well I mean maybe I don't know
[01:44:25] I haven't been paying attention to run time on these 2 60 MH batteries but we didn't get drastically more runtime I'm flying pretty hard though I mean I'm like really laying into the throttle
[01:44:35] let's do a 300 mAh battery I think I'm going to end up moving this to a tri to the an HQ ultr light triblade also notice I didn't have to change the tune I didn't change to that
[01:44:50] weaker weaker whatever weaker tune I didn't just stev you wonder that did I hopefully you guys got to see that battery here's another 300 mAh battery this will be full power but also
[01:45:06] full weight this is the HQ byblade 1.2 by 1.2 by two battery is falling out of the effing goggles get back in there there we go all right 3 MH battery let's I wonder what the runtime is going to be
[01:45:34] here a it's going to haveit the ceiling oh no these these BetaFPV rigs have this rainbow issue on certain crashes kind of interesting I don't know what that's about
[01:45:53] you got to power cycle it it'll it'll take off just fine but you have to power cycle it to get the video back my race Edition the Champion Edition does it as
[01:46:08] well oh oh oh doesn't do it all the time oh God o I can't believe I caught that ah didn't catch that oh let's try the home theater power Loop get it lined up over
[01:46:34] here and oh we got it back that up with a mirror flip Oh no I got actually kind of got disoriented there let's get a good mirror flip in hold on come on settle settle
[01:46:58] settle how am I having such a hard time with mirror flips it's like the easiest thing that I do down here let me out of here oh I think I might know why I'm having a problem with mirror flips if
[01:47:15] you want to check if your camera is level fly up close to the ceiling and try to find like a beam and get it so it's not sliding left or right the camera is a little bit off the
[01:47:29] camera is tilted to the left a little bit see how the beam is it's not too bad though it's not that bad that works because you're flying the rig level right you're not sliding to
[01:47:41] the left or right there was a good mirror flip right there we getting low battery warnings already it's only been a minute and 40 ah [Laughter] oh that's not going to be recoverable I
[01:48:13] don't think come on get out of there buddy don't make me walk over there it's like 10t away don't make me do it please let we just sit here I'm a I'm in cheeseburger land we
[01:48:28] just we don't we don't walk we just sit I'm going to go get it all kinds of interesting noise in the btx I don't know about these version 2 Motors having more
[01:48:47] efficiency maybe they've got more run time I'm sorry maybe they've got more power but they don't seem to have much more if any additional efficiency great power though even on
[01:49:00] these little tiny by blades we've got one battery left it's a 260 and I think I want to fly it on one more different set of props yuo says is Sunday Sim day maybe maybe I haven't decided yet I
[01:49:20] don't necessarily have a plan for Sunday yet so I usually do the Sim streams when I don't have like a plan for the stream they're they're like my backup so we'll
[01:49:33] see this is really good on these HQ ultr light bblades but I think I want just a little bit more power and I'm not really getting any extra
[01:49:46] runtime from these by blades I like the way that they kind of say when when you're off the throttle but they they they're they're my favorite on the higher KV Motors these
[01:50:01] are 27,000 KV which is kind of low for me I usually fly 30 32,000 36,000 40,000 KV Motors and so with these lower KV Motors I want a little bit more prop on them so we're going to try one more
[01:50:21] different propeller I think we're going to go to the old school HQ 31 mm ultral lights which are 1.2x 1.1 by3 so 1.1 pitch technically that's less pitch than what I have on
[01:50:45] here right now these by blades are marketed as 1.2 by 1.2 by two and so I should actually lose power here but I don't it's when you go from a two blade prop to a three blade
[01:51:08] prop the the the the pitch of those propellers kind of seems to go out the window the pitch has nothing to do with how many blades the prop has the pitch is a measurement of like how far
[01:51:25] the propeller will move in a medium when it spins one time and so byblade triblade quad blade it shouldn't matter my hunch is that the the prop manufacturers don't have the best
[01:51:45] possible way of modeling the pitch I I don't I really don't know it's a bit of a mystery but I'm gonna put these lower pitch Tri blades on and it's and it's gonna make more power oh look at
[01:52:00] that these HQ ultral light 31 mm old school props fit perfect I did not have to drill that out let's try another one I'm going with I'm going with green because I don't have any extra pinks
[01:52:16] eventually this will get pink these are fine interesting the by blades are are definitely a little bit too tight out of the bag boy is that frustrating I really wish that that I
[01:52:34] had to drill these 31 mil ultr lights out because then I could just say all the HQ props need to get drilled down but it's just not the case this will be when I get
[01:52:47] some more of the pink 31 Ms this will be another trans rights or I bite build with the the light blue frame it'll have the Pink props and the clear canopy did I just put the wrong
[01:53:04] propeller on the wrong no what am I do I I just I grabbed the wrong prop from in here okay that was a very confusing moment I need a high right propeller there we go that's better
[01:53:24] all right and nice props out props out I'm not used to doing props out and so it's just thrown me off a little bit last battery of the live stream this is a lava 260
[01:53:37] it's not a fresh battery don't judge any of these run times these batteries have been abused to different levels of insanity this is about flight characteristics and the tune and the
[01:53:51] setup and all all that good stuff thanks for hanging friends sorry that I missed so many live chat comments but I had a lot to do on this stream and I wanted to get through it all and I got a late
[01:54:05] start wow wow I can really feel the weight difference with these propellers the yaw the yaw response is still good oh for God's sakes Jim it still feels plenty crisp and a little
[01:54:25] bit better than the than the W [@$#%] than the the geman 1219 s's but this is somewhere in between these are lighter than the 129s but not as pitchy so not quite as much power
[01:54:53] but a little bit better response time those HQ ultral light by blades are response time Kings cuz they're the lightest of the propellers so the response time is
[01:55:05] amazing but then they lack a little bit of power I didn't get enough ruid momentum there I'll stop it come on let's get upstairs do a couple full room power loops and then you guys can all go
[01:55:31] enjoy the rest of your Friday night or maybe not oh man I threw it back across the room on that one kids are still eating oh oh sink is filled with dishes that have that have water in them
[01:55:50] there when I was when I was reviewing the original air 65 production version one I guess you could call it on the very first battery oh on the very first battery during a live stream oh wow I lost all
[01:56:07] the video I crashed it into the dog's water balll and destroyed it and I was worried that I just did the same thing I there there's definitely something going on with these beta
[01:56:25] FPV air aios where they lose video like this or the video goes full rainbow and you have to power cycle it don't know what that's about but it doesn't happen all that all that often
[01:56:40] the camera plug is totally fine the camera looks totally fine it's not just this one that does it's there's something going on with the board that that causes that to happen
[01:56:53] never really heard anybody else talking about it either which is interesting all right I think this battery is about done isn't it uh so I didn't get to see what I
[01:57:05] didn't notti you can see when it slapped down on the desk there's just there's just something going on my guess is going to be that when you make things Ultra Ultra Ultra Ultra Ultra
[01:57:17] lightweight there are there are consequences to that I don't know if that actually has anything to do with it but that's probably a pretty good guess there you go my friends thanks for
[01:57:32] hanging enjoy the rest of your Friday night I hope you learned something I hope I didn't miss too many too many chat comments I know that I missed a bunch I'm going to leave
[01:57:47] this I don't know what propellers that this is going to end up on here are the propellers that you should have though you owe it to yourself to have a bunch of different
[01:58:04] props because they're so cheap and they are the thing that has the biggest effect on the performance of how these things fly nope those are 1.4s okay so they are available all right so here are the
[01:58:19] ultra light by blades I'm just going to open these all up in in separate tabs hold on a second here are the low pitch Tri blades we did not fly the low pitch Tri blades
[01:58:33] I will but we did not tonight these aren't the exact ones but just bear with me I'll have to scroll too far to find the actual 1 mm motor shaft geman 1210s geman 1210 was the very first
[01:58:53] really really good tiny whoop propeller that we got but it's was like two three years ago that we got that propeller and since then some other propellers have come out that are
[01:59:07] slightly better this is the byblade HQ 1.2 by 1.2x two get you some of these These are excellent oh different colors I only have them in Gray very cool purple too
[01:59:24] yo HQ ultra light 31 mm low pitch these are 1.2x .9 by3 these are also amazing these are the 1.5 mm motor shaft version but the normal version of these GemFan 1210s 1.2x 1.0x two these
[01:59:48] are the old school awesome great super durable amazing propeller you should have a couple of sets of these These are the geman 129s these are the pitch Kings these are
[02:00:03] also the durability Kings both of the GemFan props are very very durable 1210 sorry 129s 1.2x 1.9 by 3 great props you should have a couple sets of these and then these are
[02:00:19] the old school HQ ultral light 31 mm they are 1.2 by 1.1 by three these are what these are the last propeller that I just ran it on in some kind of a green color which I
[02:00:37] don't even see here cool you should have all five of those props it'll cost you 20 bucks each one of them performs noticeably different I I hesitated before I said noticeably
[02:00:56] because it is still subtle if you've not been flying for a if you don't have at least a few hundred tiny whoop batteries in there's a chance you won't be able to tell the difference
[02:01:13] that that'll be a good indicator of where you're at as a pilot if you're a th000 b batteries in you'll be able to tell a difference between each one of these propellers almost certainly
[02:01:27] propellers make the biggest difference in Flight characteristics other than like a drastic change in Motors if you go from like a 20,000 to a 40,000 KV motor okay obv that's going to be super super
[02:01:41] super obvious but like if you go from like a BetaFPV 0702 30,000 KV to a VCI 07 2 30,000 KV motor you're not going to be able to tell the difference if you go from two similar props like
[02:01:59] that you're going to be able to tell a difference does that make sense I hope so because I'm ending the goddamn live stream sorry that I missed so many so many chat comments tonight come on
[02:02:09] through on Sunday and I'll answer all your questions my friends C fpv.one the only way that I can continue to do this full-time is because you guys go there and you do things patreon helps
[02:02:22] me the absolute most you can join the patreon for 7 and5 cents per hour of live streaming content you can't tell me that the last two hours were not worth 15
[02:02:37] cents I might have cost you $100 or saved you $100 or cost you $20 in propellers but you're going to get the good stuff you're not going to get the garbage stuff and that's where I save
[02:02:51] you money I love you guys guys bye here's some more random freestyle flying from 2022 I'm not ready flight footage this folder is called there's zero items in it way to
[02:03:03] go oh wait no it was just taking forever to open it up what is this 20 2022 rip squeak rip squeak on 1404 Motors 4500 KV 2540 by3 propellers maybe I'm flying good maybe
