[00:02:24] hey friends my name is Aaron Ciotti everybody calls me Ciotti why's my nose so red oh hi welcome to whoop Wednesday we're gonna do some fixing we're gonna
[00:02:45] do we're going to do some fixing we're going to do some flying it's Q&A live stream ask any questions you've got that flight footage was from two days ago where is it flying
[00:02:58] the HappyModel Mula 704 around in the basement and just destroying these two front Motors by crashing it quite a bit that was when I was on 1080 100
[00:03:15] frames after a couple batteries of that I moved it to 4K 60 the latency jumped up and I started crashing a lot more and a lot harder and I managed to bend both motor shafts on the front
[00:03:35] Motors this is not an indoor rig the 04 the 04 light setup it's not for Indo it's not for indoor use Jim D thank you for subscribing friend you can absolutely fly it
[00:03:51] inside but if you want to fly it hard inside and or just not destroy everything that you own this ain't it and to be honest 04 light is not it we went down this road 6 months ago a
[00:04:09] year ago when I tried to do the the WalkSnail 65mm 1S setups and it's just too much extra weight it's too much too much payload too much dead weight adding six or seven or eight grams to
[00:04:27] a 65mm builds it's just too much it you you two things happen the extra weight adds so much extra momentum that flying inside is outrageously difficult as it is and now it becomes so
[00:04:47] much more difficult the other thing that happens is adding that much weight makes all of those makes the the the durability of all those components go out the window on a 65mm whoop we're
[00:05:01] talking about 1 mm motor shafts unless you go with the wee bed 0702 screamers but at the moment there's only the the GemFan 1210 propellers for them so it's we want to wait
[00:05:19] until we have the HQ ultra light props before we really do this these GemFan props are okay but they're an older propeller and the new HQ ultral lights are significantly better
[00:05:33] especially with the ability to do a triblade like if you were going to do a proper freestyle indoor HD whooop either WalkSnail or 04 light you're talking newbie drone light AF
[00:05:51] frame to get the weight down as low as possible whatever AO you want I don't know I know what a aiio you would do 0702 minimum 32,000 KV Motors I would be looking to go like 36,000 or
[00:06:12] 40,000 and it's got to have a triblade you have to have a triblade propeller to try to offset all that extra weight that you're adding from the digital system if you want something
[00:06:24] that flies good inside if you just want to limp around inside that's a different story you can do that with this but that that loses it's not that it's not nearly as fun flying
[00:06:41] inside flying hard inside is incredibly fun and it really really really makes you a better pilot and but look flying hard inside is not about the quality of the footage it's about the
[00:06:58] stuff that you're doing and so it's analog like this is easy or if you're desperate for HD you can do the ao5 from hd0 but analog is significantly better than the ao5 build the ao5 is
[00:07:16] three G heavier and believe it or not that's like still a little bit too much of extra weight I was inspired by the tiny whoop wandering whoop and I'm going to do my own
[00:07:30] wandering whoop so this is the air the BetaFPV air 65 prototype it's actually both prototypes in here it's a fully working rig there's an extra air 65 Frame couple extra sets of props
[00:07:52] there's actually an extra AIO in here 260 mAh battery 300 MH battery a bunch of extra screws the little dongle that you need and an extra booty hole canopy no no no banana
[00:08:09] hammock canopy and so uh BetaFPV sent me a while ago they sent me a production air 65 version one and on the first battery while live streaming I put it into the dog's water bowl and destroyed
[00:08:28] it I put it into the dog's water bowl and then I destroyed it by trying to take it off out of the the water bowl don't do that just run and get it and get it unplugged as quick as possible
[00:08:44] recently they sent me another one with their version two Motors and I did not put that into the dog bowl they they sent me a long time ago two prototypes of the air 65 and I've given them
[00:08:58] to a couple of people to kind of screw around with and they've made their way back here and they're just going to sit on the shelf and that's stupid so you know
[00:09:10] understand that these are pre-production Proto air 65s basically the VTX doesn't work as good as the as the the production model but for folks that want to see what a 16
[00:09:25] something gram tiny whoop flies like here's how you do it's the lrs I think there are the 27,000 KV Motors there's two extra Motors in here as well the deal is that if you break it you
[00:09:39] got to fix it and you've got to pay shipping to the next person and you get two weeks with it so over on my Discord which is linked from SE fv.com down in the tiny whoop and
[00:09:56] toothpick text Channel which is patreon only there's a thread within that text Channel and so the first person I I think there might already be a reply in there I've been I haven't
[00:10:12] been able to look but first reply it goes to that person first and then I'll get in touch with each subsequent person and send you a message on Discord with hey you're number three when you're done
[00:10:25] with your two weeks you're sending it to so and so I'm not going to babysit you guys you need to get it fly it for 2 weeks fix it if you destroy it and send it to the next person it'll there'll
[00:10:39] be a record in the on the Discord of if you're the last person that it went to and everyone can beat you so be cool and spend your two weeks with it send it to the next person I
[00:10:53] I if it makes its way back here that's cool I would ra I don't have anything to do with it though so if it just stays out forever I just I'm hoping that it doesn't disappear what
[00:11:04] I mean I had one of the box of stick ends vanish and that's like 300 and something dollars with the stick ends so I'm hoping the same thing doesn't happen to this but it's a
[00:11:15] prototype and so if it does whatever not the end of the world prototype stuff usually ends up going in the garbage or getting destroyed anyway so is what it is but wandering whoop
[00:11:26] thanks to BetaFPV also on the Discord sorry on the Etsy on my Etsy store you're going to be able to buy the damn near impossible to find gray GemFan 1610 props with the 1 and a half millim hole
[00:11:48] I've got like eight or so sets of these to sell on my Etsy store so if you've been looking for them and having trouble finding them I got you bro just give me a couple days cuz I got
[00:11:59] to take the picture and I got a bunch of stuff that I got to put up on the on the Etsy store ah in the chat Troy prog was First yamur Weber FPV render hockey rounds
[00:12:15] Curtis Hayes Craig Juicy J notice Frank Nicholas Mario beans Greg Torres fle adelic Brandon's baked beans nitrous chimp Chaser FPV doubles FPV capital c YouTube just did the
[00:12:31] thing I have no idea where I was chonan space Band spiff Islander Denny flatland BMX Willie Summit shoot FPV Bren Anderson drones in beep tube danilla terrible off axis
[00:12:49] FPV who else is here smirk MC mucus drif aholic I know I'm missing people YouTube just did it again again if you want me to read your name you got to get into the chat early or
[00:13:03] just type CiottiFPV in your chat message it'll lay up an orange for me you can do that with each other if you want to get notice's attention in your chat message just type the word notice and for him
[00:13:13] the word notice will light up an orange notice if if it ever gets too frustrating just let me know and I'll stop doing it if you type someone's name into your chat message for that person it'll
[00:13:29] let light up in Orange you got to spell it right you got to get the spaces in the right places that rhymes so that's the plan for tonight friend we're going to fix we're going to
[00:13:37] fly I'm going to give you guys some soldering tips the the two main rigs that we're going to be fixing are the mobula 6 2024 uh the ultimate mobul 6 2024 and the hd0
[00:13:55] ao5 75mm rig come to think of it I need to put a couple batteries on the I need to put a couple 450s on the charger for that 75mm fat fat we're switching the camera back
[00:14:12] out I put the I put the Lux camera on it on a live stream and then like three crashes in I managed to scratch the lens like right in the middle and it's like incredibly obnoxious where I scratched
[00:14:28] the lens so I'm going to move it back to the Eco camera which is kind of a shame because the the Luxe camera is a lot better but it is what it is it's fine it's fine that rig is on 802
[00:14:47] 33,000 KV Motors in the chat Weber FPV tagged me said what's up CV and the gangly gang super stoked I got my first 3D printer today and it hasn't stopped printing since I set it up very cool in one day
[00:14:59] you've managed to print more on your new 3D printer than I have in like 6 months I won one at Rampage and all I've printed so far is is this and I did it during the 12-h hour live stream
[00:15:14] I will at some point print with it I swear print something that's not pre-programmed into it at least Greg Torres says I built my mobula 8 with the flywoo Goku f45 1 the
[00:15:29] 2s HD 04 light but I can't get sbus loaded onto BetaFlight to work with my rc3 tried flashing to sbus can't get sbus loaded on to BetaFlight what's
[00:15:45] rc3 oh remote controller 3 DJI stuff tried flashing when you say tried flashing to sbus what does that mean if if you want to use the SBS you should just be like going into the ports
[00:16:08] Tab and just flipping a switch Greg T says rebooting to ROM bootloader and then failed to open serial Port I remember seeing that the AO has blue jay on it just confused and
[00:16:23] not sure how to go about getting the rc3 to read on BetaFlight all right so we've got we've got a whole whole bunch of weird stuff going on here blue J has nothing to do with any of this blue
[00:16:34] J is an ESC protocol that has nothing to do with your your transmitter link basically so don't worry about blue jay you need to hook your 04 light up through RX and TX
[00:16:57] and the first thing that you need need to check is that the RX on the AIO is going to the TX on the VTX and the and the RX on the VTX is going to the TX R is for receive T is
[00:17:13] for transmit so you need the the flight controller the aiio to transmit to the receive pad on the VTX and vice versa cool so try that first that's the thing that screws up most people when they
[00:17:26] can't get SBS working then you need to figure out which art so on the aiio it's going to have it's going to be like tx1 and RX1 that one is the name of the UR is is the number of the UR in the receiver
[00:17:47] tab of BetaFlight that's the you need to match that number up and you need to flip the the the switch on that correct number then you need to go to the receiver Tab and in the receiver tab
[00:18:02] you got to set that to sbus you're not you can't flash sbus it's just something that you turn on within BetaFlight you in in BetaFlight like you can flash a new version of BetaFlight but like you
[00:18:17] can't flash a setting and that should do it that that those are the and those are three things that screww lots of people up so it's not just you but we we've got
[00:18:32] some we've got some wording that's kind of getting all over the place but should be good to go one of those three things is is wrong and so once you it's you could
[00:18:47] have two of them wrong that's an extra fun troubleshoot when you have more than one thing wrong but check all three of those things Willie Summit says I just watched you again in Flow State very cool
[00:18:59] man that was was early days of me flying professionally my God that was a long time ago that uh that James filmed that with us danzel the turbo says how's
[00:19:21] that jerk Islander FPV says any tips or tricks to insert grommets into aios that aren't notched smoke a shitload of weed do whatever you have to do to calm down and give yourself like 15 minutes
[00:19:43] to do it there is like a little bit of a trick but my God is it impossible to like kind of show it to you if how I not have any like cylinder if this is the
[00:20:04] gr this ain't G to work if this is The Grommet you want to squish it you want to take the round grommet and you want to squish it so it's like a like an
[00:20:19] oval and then if this is the AO if this is the grommy squish it to an oval and you want to get it like at a 45 degree angle into that hole and then so as you're squishing it
[00:20:31] you're going to push pinch push pinch push pinch push all you really need to do is push at a 45 degree angle the corner through just enough and then you can go to the other side with your
[00:20:43] fingernail and pull it through basically sometimes I'll use blunt tipped tweezers to do it sometimes I'll just use my fingers but that's the main way there's all kinds of wacky tricks that
[00:20:59] people have like using dental floss fishing line I've tried them all I have the easiest time with blunt tip tweezers or just literally My Fingers and just at a 45 degree angle just try
[00:21:13] to get just try to get it in there and then you can also kind of try to use like another finger to hold it so you're going to like mash it and then kind of hold it so it doesn't pop out and then
[00:21:26] let go pinch mash it hold it pinch mash it hold it and you'll get like a hundredth of a millimeter each time and you just keep going keep going keep going and eventually you look on the
[00:21:39] bottom and you'll have enough peeking through where you can just like again with your fingernail just like and then you just it sucks dude it sucks try just get higher than you've ever gotten in
[00:21:52] your entire life and just sit there for 5 hours doing it and eventually you'll get one one once you get one or two or three of them you'll start to kind of figure it out so you
[00:22:06] just it's just one of those incredibly annoying things one of the many incredibly annoying things in FPV Greg tus says appreciate it you to King thanks brother bradm said I'm now
[00:22:23] going bottom to top in the chat because YouTube keeps scrolling me to the bottom bradm says do you feel like like the goggles two are enough like would it would the Integra be fine would you
[00:22:33] prefer the three if it wasn't for the batter battery I'm willing to mod I I would prefer the three if it weren't for the battery and I know that there's ways around the the battery
[00:22:44] thing like specific USB cables that have like a y so that you can hook up like a battery Bank to one side of the Y and then the other side of the Y for me it's important because I'm
[00:22:58] going to use it for live broadcast gigs most people it's not going to matter but my situation is a little bit specific the goggles to seem totally fine the the the biggest
[00:23:12] problem that I'm having is this is the old school goggle foam and it's all bunched up here in the nose and that makes these not fit my face very well at all I placed
[00:23:24] that order like I was talking about Monday night with pyro drone for a proper set of the real normal foam for these so that should fix that problem I forgot DJI should be beaten with a
[00:23:39] hammer for this they used I I totally forgot about this they used a different sized Barrel plug here which is just absolutely maddening and so what I really want to do is use
[00:24:00] what I really want is to use these tattoo 2S 2500 M batteries just on the side of the strap and then just plug them directly in but the stupid bastards used the smaller
[00:24:14] Barrel plug so I can't do that these DJI batteries are okay and you can get like extras I don't know I'm I I really don't like this touchpad thing I'm having a really hard time
[00:24:28] getting used to this like when I want to go up I'm always going forward when I want to go down I'm always going back it's just this is and I've heard other people [@$#%] about this I didn't
[00:24:38] quite get it until I used it a bunch so ah boy I don't know I I'm I feel like I'm no closer to figuring out what I want to do for like a goggle situation I got to figure something
[00:24:53] out soon though I would love to just do the goddamn goggles through I think I'm going to end up just doing the goggles 3 so that I can get 60 megabits per second and so that I can get race mode
[00:25:07] and then I'll figure out whatever the hell cable I need to get that has like a y in it so that I can run a battery Bank to it but I don't know this shirt and many more are available over on
[00:25:22] Teespring linked at se fpv.one Craig says great on soldering have to put back two wires on my air 65 camera very cool that's going to be hard the air 65 camera has stupidly small little
[00:25:41] PVC coed wires even for me it's a pain in the ass to deal with those it's just BetaFPV should be smacked for using those wires instead of proper multi-stranded silicone insulated
[00:25:58] wire but Capital C says not so much for whoops but have you seen the axis flying 04 camera case I have if you're going to use the 04 light system in like a big ass heavy rig it seems
[00:26:12] like a really good option I would definitely not recommend using that heavy ass thing on anything like maybe on something like right at 250 250 gr but maybe not yeah I I
[00:26:28] feel like that's really only for like a 5 in rig or a race rig or or something right and I'm caught up on chat look at me go no I'm not Frank Nicholas says USBC data/ power adapter for
[00:26:45] goggles 3 my man coming through oh look at that that's a lot less obnoxious than I thought or is it this would have to plug into the goggles wouldn't it so that would be hanging off the
[00:27:04] goggles what's PD Power donkey power oh what they've got a thumb drive plugged into that that's interesting I would rather do it with like a wire I I I want as little hanging
[00:27:25] off the goggles as possible that's interesting though that is that is not obnoxious at all I guess I could run a male to female cable off the goggles to this and then like put
[00:27:36] this down on the desk interesting I mean it's only eight bucks so I'll probably end up finding it somewhere off of Amazon and buying it very cool thank you
[00:27:54] Frank Craig says those wires are so thin super super super annoying that that BetaFPV did that PD is power delivery good call all right let's let's start farting around on the bench
[00:28:15] here so we're going to fix this guy first I mean this doesn't really this is just like unplugging and plugging and screwing and unscrewing this is actually going to be some
[00:28:28] some soldering and whatnot and I haven't soldered on stream in a while so basically what happened here is as happens a lot to me on the on the so this is the version one mob 6
[00:28:43] 2024 and at the the version one is direct soldered Motors and as happens all the time with direct soldered Motors in my experience after you start crashing them the motor wire rip off of the board
[00:29:00] and this motor wire has ripped off a couple times and it's now a little bit too short so I actually need to I'm going to replace all three of these motor wires with fresh ones little tiny 30
[00:29:15] gauge fresh bastards and then hopefully it'll stop happening so this is the Omni fixo this is one of the best things you can get to help your soldering out any other Helping Hands can go to
[00:29:31] hell this is so much better in my opinion and many others opinions so we are going to clamp on there and so first thing we want to do with these tiny little Motors you always want
[00:29:48] to use flux but with these little tiny Motors you don't want to use too much flux just a little bit another thing that helps a ton with soldering are the nerd goggles these are made by yakos
[00:30:03] soon but you can get these made by a million different people they have a lens up front here that's 2 and 1/2 x magnification which makes a massive difference these do have a little led
[00:30:17] up here and then you can put trip three AAA batteries in here don't do that when you put the AAA batteries in here these become really heavy and uncomfortable without the batteries in them they are
[00:30:28] comfortable you should have some sort of a lamp on your desk here this one has this magnified thing that I never use but it's okay because you're just using it to put light in the exact right spot
[00:30:43] nerd goggles flux and a lamp so that you actually have light will really really really help you do good quality work and when you're working on tiny little [@$#%] like this
[00:30:56] that is super super super important so let's get a little bit of flux on here so this is flux paste I really like it because it stays exactly where you put it and the the
[00:31:10] syringe has a nice fine tip on it so I can put flux paste exactly on these solder pads it doesn't flow all over the place like the flux pen which has like a liquid flux in there it stays exactly
[00:31:25] there and you'll see when I bring the tip of the soldering iron in we'll get a big old puff of smoke that's the that's the flux burning off flux is basically just like petroleum so when
[00:31:36] you hit's with high heat it's kind of boils off soldering iron doesn't matter that much you don't want something that's $10 but you don't have to buy something that's 100 bucks over on FPV
[00:31:49] know-it-all Joshua's website he's got a bunch of really good soldering iron recommendations it's not super important but does make a little bit of a difference I run my soldering iron
[00:32:00] a little bit hot at 710 de fah the hotter you run it the quicker you want to be the newer you are to soldering the slower you're going to be so if you're new probably go to like 650
[00:32:15] maybe even 600 basically you want to put as little heat into the components as possible you can do that by running the soldering iron hot and being really quick or running it colder and if if
[00:32:32] you're not as quick and so it's a little bit of a moving Target but when you're new I would not necessarily recommend especially working on small stuff like this running it anywhere near
[00:32:44] as hot as I do so one of the really cool things about the Omni fixo is that this is light and so I put it in this orientation so that I could clamp this to it but now what I'm going to do and
[00:32:56] the second most important important thing is to move the work to you don't move yourself around the work you never want to get your arm into like some weird Twisted upass position just to try
[00:33:09] to get to the pad move the work so that you can comfortably work on it I want to be coming in with the soldering iron I'm right-handed I want to be coming in with the soldering iron here and so I've
[00:33:22] rotated this around and I can easily put the soldering iron onto all three pads I'm going to fold these guys down and out of the way and so now I can grab these wires with my left hand and pull
[00:33:33] them off so what I'm going to do right now is remove these three wires cuz they're all ever so slightly Too Short when you take your soldering iron out of the little stand you clean it every
[00:33:44] single time you don't clean it when you put it away you clean it when you take it out the best way to clean it in my experience is one of these little brass
[00:33:58] Brill padded bastards you can also use a foam pad that you've gotten a little bit wet but not super wet this is what my father prefers he probably knows better than me he worked on the pl
[00:34:13] Princeton plasma physics tokomak Fusion reactor for many years and was an electrical technician for most of his life but I've had better luck with this and I've heard people in the chat
[00:34:27] so so my dad's old school right he's in his 70s now and so the feeling that I get is is maybe that the I'm sure the the the sponge is totally fine but I think maybe the the
[00:34:40] newer the the newer data on cleaning the the tips of the soldering irons is potentially that the the brass Brillo [@$#%] is better whichever you're going to be totally fine either way the foam
[00:34:54] not foam the the sponge you got to go get it wet and then it dries out and then you got to get wet again and it's that's annoying whereas this you just it's just there
[00:35:05] and so you don't got to go crazy you just go in there and you're just kind of like wiping the tip off you put it in and then pull back put it in pull back you're just pulling the excess solder
[00:35:18] off the tip of the so no need to jam it in there or anything the tip of the soldering iron is not Invincible and then when you pull it out it should be some what shiny this
[00:35:28] stupid ass camera is not going to focus but it should be nice and shiny and so here we go your right hand is not for moving the wires around it is for introducing heat as you can see when I
[00:35:45] pull in these wires this thing rotates I don't want that so one of the cool things about the Omni fixo is you just take another one of them and you clamp it to it and now it's not going to go
[00:35:56] anywhere you clamp one clamp to another clamp and then your nipple clamps are all set to go and so we're just going to do one at a time you're going to see a big puff of
[00:36:07] smoke there's one it didn't come all the way off let's get it hot again there we go here comes the middle one and there's the outside that happens quick for me again because I got the
[00:36:19] soldering iron all the way up at 710 also because I'm using flux flux helps with heat transfer it's basically cleaning the pad and the solder and so things happen nice and fast when you
[00:36:32] when you properly flux it on these little tiny whoop Motors there's this itty bitty little piece of shrimp wrap hold on let me show you which is actually really
[00:36:47] important let's see how awful this camera will do at focusing not that bad see that itty bitty little piece of shrimp wrap save that and reuse it that prevents the motor wires from breaking off at the
[00:37:05] motor itself it's really important to use that otherwise you will break wires off the the motor pad more often than you want to there's like 7,000 things with contrast for this donkey [@$#%] ass camera
[00:37:22] to focus on and it just refuses there we go see that little piece of shrink wrap there that's going to keep those wires from breaking off the the motor pad so if you ever have
[00:37:34] to do this take that little guy off of there and reuse it put it on basically I'm going to put it on the next set of wires here and so I just want these wires to be a
[00:37:45] little bit longer tiny whoop Motors use 30 gauge wires so I'm just going to take any old 30 gauge wire and I'm going to cut it ever so slightly longer than this all right I've got a nice little
[00:38:02] kit up here with a million different ESC pad Bing bongs let me take this this red guy here we'll put some we'll put some red motor wires on that'll be fun I never use these long ones in here so I
[00:38:23] just cut them up and so I just need this to be like a little bit longer so we'll hold it there and then that should be plenty cut this end off I don't need that all
[00:38:49] right and so now let's check it before I make three more perfect all right so now we can just butt this guy up next to that use it as a guide good there's two
[00:39:13] and here comes three it's kind of it's fun to color code the wires to the like the color of the motors or the build but it's also kind of cool because I'm now know that this motor I've replaced
[00:39:31] the the little wires on which is kind of cool I mean it's not like groundbreaking but sometimes it's nice to know that sort of thing why does this rig not have a this rig not have a an antenna on it
[00:39:47] the hell happened there where did the antenna go where did the antenna go Nick Burns is not not saying antana anymore apparently his kid made fun of him about it and he's trying to
[00:40:02] say it like non Midwestern I think the way he pronounces it antenna is a is a midwesterner thing I could totally be wrong but I'm just kind of assuming or maybe it's just him it's
[00:40:22] okay somebody in his chat was talking [@$#%] about the way he pronounced ounc some other word and I was like who the [@$#%] made you the Arbiter of how things are pron are pronounced who are
[00:40:35] you because I'm an angry [@$#%] Craig says what gauge are your replacement motor wires 30 30 gauge they are infinitely small they could probably be even smaller than this
[00:40:50] so I'm going to use on on these tiny little 30 gauge and 28 gauge wires if if you look at how many individual strands there are in there there's like eight a lot of times and so
[00:41:04] I do not like to use anything metal or sharp to try to strip these because if you nick one of those wires and it breaks you've just killed 1/8 of your throughput on the wires so what I like
[00:41:20] to do is use my fingernails and this is actually a trick my dad taught me your fingernails are made of keratin which is much softer than metal so you will never ever ever damage the individual metal
[00:41:33] strands of wire and any gauge wire you can do this with anything but I really like to do this on these little 30 gauge wires don't strip off a ton of the silicone just a little tiny bit
[00:41:47] these pads are Itty Bitty the pad the pads on the motors are Itty Bitty the pads on the AO are Itty Bitty as well so I'm actually wearing the the nerd goggles right now so that I can see what
[00:41:58] the hell I'm doing with this tiny little wire and so I'm just going to come in here and the trick with using your fingernails is that like you really like pinch the [@$#%] out of it to make sure
[00:42:10] that you get all the way through the the silicone if you don't pinch hard enough when you pull you're going to stretch the silicone and it's going to ruin the piece of wire that you've got
[00:42:22] so just pinch a little bit make a little face make a little noise and then yank it out and you will get just the smallest little piece of silicone if you're going to use wire cutters for
[00:42:35] example at this point you want to look at the piece of silicone insulation that you pulled out off and look for any individual strands of wire that you accidentally nicked and
[00:42:49] yanked off of there you don't have to do that when you use your fingernails the next little trick is that because you're pull on it and silicone is kind of stretchy you're
[00:42:59] going to come in here with your fingernail and just push the silicone down a little bit if you don't do this now with your fingernail when you solder this wire on the heat is going to cause
[00:43:12] that to happen and so you you could potentially just have a little bit of wire that's exposed and then as soon as you solder it there's a bunch of wire exposed and now you've got got all this
[00:43:22] wire hanging off the pad ideally what you want is for the silicone to butt up all the way against the pad or the AIO or whatever you're working on let me see if I can show you what I
[00:43:38] mean so let me lock the let me lock the focus on this camera and that'll help quite a bit here camo studio and just pull this over here all right so that is as macro as this
[00:44:01] thing will go and so you see how the insulation is right up against the PCB if you have a section of exposed wires up against the PCB that is where it will bend it will only Bend at that
[00:44:17] exact point and that will break each individual wire off whereas if you get the silicone all the way up against the PCB it's going to B the silicone is going to help it Bend not in just one
[00:44:31] specific position it's going to bend like the length of the wire so it's not going to like Focus all of the bending on one specific little spot that breaks it off you can even see it with the
[00:44:43] power the power cable back there the silicone is right up against the right up against the AIO see I've got a little bit of a gap on this one but it's because of that angle right that
[00:44:55] makes a huge difference in how long your wires last before they break off on the other side here at the motor we've got that little piece of shrimp wrap that gets the job
[00:45:07] done this is how you make [@$#%] that lasts these are the tricks to getting these things to be durable which is really really nice because they can be very durable you just have to do
[00:45:20] a couple little things here and there so now we just got to strip all three these wires here so again using the nerd goggles so I can see what the hell I'm
[00:45:33] doing pinch my fingernails yank it and then just use my fingernail to push that silicone back down all right one done let me try to read through chat while I do the other three Matthew
[00:45:54] Wagner says what another little piece of shrink wrap added on the AIO side help with durability for solder on Motors you would think so but unfortunately not the reason why the reason why the
[00:46:07] silicone helps on the motor side is that we've got this little PCB here we've got this little PCB here for the the shrink wrap to kind of wrap around right so the the shrink wrap
[00:46:28] covers up these pads and it tightens down on this PCB here whereas on the AO we don't have that right we just have the wires coming directly off off the AI and so
[00:46:44] the the the shrink wrap would actually just fall off the aiio if we put it up towards it whereas on this it's got that little piece of PCB to kind of grab onto let me see if I can show you
[00:46:56] hold on you can kind of see it on these it's hard to see it on these motors if I can get it in there see that like dent in the in the shrink wrap that's it grabbing the
[00:47:10] that's it grabbing that little piece of PCB do I have a motor here with it set up that's not screwed down here you go you can kind of see it on there see that that bubble that's that shrink
[00:47:25] wrap grabbing oh there you can totally see it see it so the the shrink wrap is grabbing onto that PCB and that's what's providing all the strength if I slid this shrink wrap off of that PCB and it
[00:47:39] was just on the wires that would be the situation at the AO and it wouldn't really do anything it would just start sliding around great question dude strer says
[00:47:51] hyd I don't know acronyms trying to come a little more consistently now LOL very cool render says been using the same brass sponge for one year too many quads tiny W prepairs still going strong
[00:48:03] I stab mine like it owes me money stab it less hard it's hard on the the tip of the soldering iron Islander says that magnification lamp zoomed in the bench camera view pretty nicely when you moved
[00:48:15] it over the problem is it becomes like in my way and it's makes like the the I used to do that but it's just here I'll do it we'll do it what the hell there it goes it it
[00:48:37] it reduces the field of view and so it makes it harder for me to go like and I don't know if it really magnifies much right the reason that I don't use it is because it doesn't seem to really
[00:48:50] magnify much at all it kind of doesn't look like it magnifies at all I guess if I move it away if I move it away it'll start to magnify more but then it makes the the auto
[00:49:01] although see it doesn't really magnify it doesn't really do anything it's great as a light though see it doesn't magnify it's so weird but it's awesome as a
[00:49:22] light I actually you can remove the lens from it which I would prefer because it makes it a lot lighter but then the springs in the arm of the damn thing become too strong and you can't pull it
[00:49:35] down and have it stay so you actually have to leave the lens in it unless you can figure out a way to pull the arm apart and weaken up the weaken the springs that are in the
[00:49:47] arm because I would love to have it I would love to have it as basically like a ring light like for example right so you can you can rotate this out rot this rotate this piece out and then take the
[00:50:06] lens out right but then it just it always pushes upwards but it looks great like this as sort of like a ring light right but then I can't move the damn thing when I when I go to move it
[00:50:24] it's just flies up in the air but I'll leave it for a little bit because it looks really nice as it is I wish they sold one of them without the lens in it because I don't
[00:50:43] know how the hell I would weaken those Springs up I mean like in theory I guess I could oh I can't really stretch the springs that would do the opposite I don't know maybe I could clip the
[00:50:53] springs off but they probably have hooks on on either side side I don't know all right so just pulling the silicone back a little bit all right there's
[00:51:09] two get the third one here and then we will get these wires tinned so here we go you'll actually see the the silicone go white when you're pinching it hard enough if you're look really
[00:51:29] carefully I might have links to some of these tools Down Below in the description of the video I might not I really need to my my autop populated video description is very old I really need to
[00:51:44] find some time to go in and fix it and update it all right so there we go all three of our wires are good omniix so the the way that the little Jaws are they clamp flat right
[00:52:07] they're not like these alligator clips that clamp they they clamp completely flat which makes putting wires in them amazing and so what you can do is put all
[00:52:21] three of your wires in here and Tin them all at once which which is super slick the I I don't like to do it one at a time though because every time you open it the other
[00:52:32] ones try to fall out so put the wires together in your fingers and then drop them all in there at once and now it's super super super easy to Tin these tinning wires is
[00:52:46] pushing solder in between the individual strands of wire and so you want your heat to be on one side and you want to put push solder in from the other side this prevents you
[00:52:59] from having to add solder when you are connecting the pad to the wire to the pad so this is a really important process here cleaning the tip of the soldering iron so what I'm going to do is I'm
[00:53:22] going to put the soldering iron on the bottom and then I'm going to push solder in from the top all right so bring the iron up and a little trick is to push solder next to the wire
[00:53:37] just so to get a little bit of a blob going the the liquid solder is is going to like envelop the wire and transfer the heat really quick me see if I can get this going so
[00:53:58] that you guys can actually see what the hell I'm doing and so when the when the soldering iron and the wires are dry it's a little bit difficult the problem with this is like if I can get
[00:54:15] it so that you guys can see it I can't see anything and so this is tough but let's give this a shot all right so I actually still have a little blob AER on here
[00:54:29] you don't want to leave the blob on there for too long it's going to really like oxidize and go to hell but if you can see that wraps its way around the wires and then I add a little bit of
[00:54:39] fresh solder and that's it and I'm just trying to push that fresh solder in between the individual strands up and push and then remove and that's it now these wires are
[00:54:55] coated with solder don't clean the tip of the soldering iron put it in the little station and the the solder on the tip of the iron will actually prevent the tip of the
[00:55:07] iron from oxidizing so it's literally good to put the soldering iron away dirty with solder on it so now we've got all three of our wires tinned and we've got enough solder here
[00:55:21] and on the pads that we can just connect these and that makes your J so much easier that is like the the main thing that everybody screws up when they first learn to solder they're likeI don't
[00:55:33] have three hands how the hell am I supposed to hold the wire hold the soldering iron and add solder at the same time you're not all right let me scroll back down in the chat all right we're
[00:55:52] good so now we've got our motor and we just need to connect these wires we don't want to forget about our little piece of shrink wrap here so let me take it off and put it there so
[00:56:07] that I will hopefully remember it tip of the soldering iron is going to be in my right hand here and I'm going to be holding the wires with my left hand so I want to move the
[00:56:18] work into a position where it's going to be comfortable for me to do that so I'm even going to like move this around a little bit so let's do this I'll move this forward and then I'll take this
[00:56:29] Omni fixo here and I'll clamp it to that and now it's going to keep this from rotating forward and back move this guy up here out of the way and
[00:56:43] so we don't need this solder we have enough solder the pads have enough solder on them because I removed wires that were already soldered on there you see that blob of solder on the
[00:57:00] pads so we're good to go the pads have enough solder already on them and then the wires are now tinned I could reflux these pads but on these little tiny whoop Motors if you put too much flux
[00:57:16] here the flux is going to like travel up the motor base and the flux can get in into the rotating assembly here which is really really really bad so flux these pads once and then you can solder
[00:57:32] there's going to be a bunch of flux residue you can solder to these pads two or three times before the flux residue is gone see how the pads are kind of like shiny that's the flux
[00:57:42] residue it's all over there right now so don't reflux those pads everything else that you're going to work on Reflux it flux it before like every single time and it's going to make your life so much
[00:57:54] easier but these little tiny whoop Motors are a weird kind of like Fringe case where you don't want to reflex them so we need to we need to do everything possible so that the wire is in the perfect position
[00:58:11] all we need to do is come in with the tip of the soldering iron apply heat and remove it and so what that means is either using your fingers or using tweezers whatever you got to do to get
[00:58:23] it so that this wire is perfectly in position you got to be stable what I'm doing here is I'm pushing my thumb down into the Omni fixo you don't want your hand hovering if your hand is hovering your
[00:58:36] shoulder muscle is having to hold this and look how much it's moving around you want multiple points of contact basically with soldering it's almost like shooting if anything
[00:58:49] about shooting rifles you want you want like bone support basically you want uh points of contact that are bone and not muscle and so for soldering the one big point of contact is here you put this
[00:59:06] down on the table and now the only muscle that's happening is right here better yet you drop your pinky down you drop like the finger next to it down right like if you're pinching with these
[00:59:17] two you can drop all these fingers down and then it's just just as many points of solid contact as you possibly can that's going to prevent you from moving all around and that's really important
[00:59:28] if you're moving around when the solder joint is cooling it's going to be a cold solder joint it's going to be way weaker and so it's really important to do what you have to do to get like points of
[00:59:39] contact down on the table here the Omni fixo is holding this so low that I can get my thumb down onto the onto the the work surface here and this is just going to be infinitely
[01:00:00] stable here and there's going to be zero wobbling around right and I'm wearing the nerd goggles of course because I got to be able to see what the hell I'm doing this W the heat is going to
[01:00:11] travel up this wire so we are going to back off a little bit and so now I can just kind of like rotate my finger down around here until I get this wire in the perfect position
[01:00:24] you can also like Bend The Wire and the and the wires got a little bit of like memory to it this is where you spend all of your time you don't spend your time with the soldering iron
[01:00:34] in your hand you spend your time right here getting the wire so that it's going to be in the perfect position so that when you bring the heat in you're on the pad for No Time
[01:00:46] whatsoever so get it exactly right get it centered on the pad and again I'm trying to get the silicone buted up as close to the PCB is possible I don't want a big bunch of exposed wire hanging
[01:01:01] off so let me stop talking because when I talk I shake and let me actually do this work this is hard [@$#%] the the tiny whoop soldering on Tiny whoops is the hardest soldering in all of FPV and
[01:01:16] so you have to follow the fundamentals even if you're good at soldering to get a good quality solder joint if you do and if you get a good quality solder joint it'll be really
[01:01:28] durable if you don't it will not I promise you it will not and so the tip of my soldering iron is dry right now which is okay because I tinned the
[01:01:39] wire and the pad but there's nothing wrong with picking up a little bit of solder on the tip of the iron which is called tinning the iron so if if I put a little bit of
[01:01:57] solder in through the Omni fixo here or even better I can just take the the jaws of the Omni fixo and clamp the solder right I can put a little bit of solder here so
[01:02:15] that something just happened the Omni fixo things are magnetic and so they they try to eat your screws off your desk every once in a while so now I can tin the tip of the soldering iron
[01:02:28] before I bring it down into the work keep in mind if you do that you are going to add a little bit of solder to the work so if you don't want to add any solder don't do this what's nice about
[01:02:39] doing this is there is the most solder has a flux core so when I do this you're going to see a little puff of smoke that's actually flux that's kind of nice we're going to add a little bit of flux
[01:02:51] I'm not totally happy with this solder joint so I'm going to rework it I'm going to rotate this a little bit so that it's in a better position for me and
[01:03:04] so get to a point where it's all good we're going to pick up a little bit of solder if the solder doesn't stick to the tip of the iron all right so that's too big of a
[01:03:17] blob hopefully you saw there the solder stuck to itself rather than the tip of the iron that means that the tip of the iron is dirty clean it's oxidizes very
[01:03:31] quickly best best case scenario is that you clean the tip of the the iron and then bring it in and work it right away because as soon as you take it off as soon as
[01:03:44] you stop cleaning it's starts to oxidize there we go that's much better uh still not totally happy with it let's take it all the way off and
[01:04:02] then one more time now I am going to push down a little bit with the tip of the soldering iron because what I wanted to do is take the bundle of wires like this and flatten them out a little bit
[01:04:21] that's the only time that you want to be like using the soldering the tip of the soldering to do anything other than apply heat is to push down a little bit and flatten those wires out you don't
[01:04:32] always want to do that but sometimes it helps so now we're going to go onto the middle pad and now when now is when things get really interesting because these pads are stupidly close together
[01:04:43] so now I actually don't want that little extra blob aater on here because that blob aater is too big we're going to now come in with a dry tip always make sure that if the tip is dry
[01:04:58] you don't force it though that's a bad idea when you come in with a dry tip you got to be more patient am I right I'm right so there we go all right awesome over here with
[01:05:22] the soldering iron I'm putting this part of my hand down all right and you can get really drastic with it like you can sometimes put this part of your hand down and then like wrap your hand over
[01:05:33] like this again you're getting even more points of contact and the points of contact are getting closer to the tip of the soldering iron right like if you can only get your elbow down that's fine but
[01:05:44] even better is getting your wrist down even better is getting your knuckles down even better is getting farther Knuckles forward down the farther forward the the physical contact
[01:05:56] the less shaking is going to happen I am quite hungry right now so I am shaking quite a bit but not so much that I won't be able to get this
[01:06:14] done last one get the wire perfectly in position and then come in with the heat and so now I'm getting a little close to the the Omni fixo arm so I just want to be a little careful with that and so when you apply
[01:06:32] heat what you're looking for is the solder on the wire will melt first and then you'll see the solder on the joint melt and then you'll kind of see them all flow together it's
[01:06:48] important for them to flow together you don't want any like crack [@$#%] in between the wire and the pad you want everything to be nice and smooth and I'm just going to adjust
[01:07:06] where this is sitting because this pad is so close to the to the silicone of the little jaw Jesus that's a little bit better always move the work don't move yourself move
[01:07:21] this out of the way all right here we go one more try this is finicky but it's doable and if you can learn to solder on this everything else in FPV will be a joke what the other thing that's kind of
[01:07:55] cool is that like tiny whoop components are the cheapest so if you're going to screw up this is the time to screw up I am going to pick up just the tiniest little bit of solder just to Tin the tip
[01:08:09] of the iron here I just picked up like a nothing amount tinning the tip of the iron think of it this way right the the tip of the iron is like this and so and the joint
[01:08:25] or the wire are round and so if you put the tip of the iron down look at that tiny little bit of a contact patch that you have right versus if the tip of the iron has a blob of solder on it it's
[01:08:39] going to it's going to envelop right and it's going to wrap around the wire or the pad and that's going to transfer that heat much much faster the problem is you don't want too much
[01:08:51] of a blob on the tip of the iron because then you're going to bridge from one pad to the other and that's super annoying because then you have to undo everything that you did and redo it and so when
[01:09:04] like on that first pad I was able to have a nice big blob of solder but on the on the next two I really wasn't but we still got it done not my best work but with tiny little pads like this
[01:09:18] as long as the solder joint is smooth you're good see how it's nice and smooth it's not super like the middle one is not shiny but it's nice and smooth up and over the wire there's no
[01:09:35] like there's no like weird angles or anything you want that nice smooth connection up from the pad and over the wire and now before we solder the other side of this to the
[01:09:50] to the AIO we want to get our little piece of shrink wrap on here and so let's thread that down the wires the thing that I forget most often all right let's get that on
[01:10:12] there all right cool and the thick part always goes down towards the PCB and we can put this on now right and so here's the deal with this right here's why it works
[01:10:28] s it's going to it's going to grab the PCB right I might actually have to stretch it out it's a little bit too big but I got to keep going I got to get the shrink wrap all the way down
[01:10:44] over the the solder joints because like I said it has to grab that PCB I'm not going to be able to show you it happening because I have to I'm pushing the motor out of the thing I'm almost
[01:10:54] there I think what I mean by now though there we go there we go there we go I can't believe that worked and now I just got to push this side on a little bit
[01:11:05] more there it is and so now when that shrinks up it's going to grab that PCB and it's going to make the wires much much stronger on there it makes a huge difference I've learned this I I learned
[01:11:20] this the hard way I had a bunch of Motors where the wires were breaking I I stopped using these cuz I was like there's no way that that could actually help and I had a whole bunch of
[01:11:31] Motors that were that the wires are breaking off and I started doing this again and it stopped happening I was like wow okay there it is if you don't crash a lot or you don't
[01:11:46] care about having to work on these things all the time then you don't have to worry about this but you should because tiny whoops can be hysterically durable if you do these simple little
[01:11:56] things and it takes a lot less time to do this now than to have to repair it and so I'm just making sure that this one thing that you want to pay attention to is make sure that shrink wrap is not
[01:12:10] going up and touching the Bell right so again use your little magnified nerd goggles and just go in there like what had happened just now is the the shrink wrap the top of the shrink wrap was
[01:12:22] doing this and it was actually pushing up against the Bell so I had to come in and get it to flatten back out and so now we're totally cool I can probably leave like it it
[01:12:34] fit strong enough that I probably don't need to come in with heat but I like fire so I'll just hit's super quick here shrink it the rest of the way up and now we are good to go and now this motor is
[01:12:52] going to be nice and strong like okay and so now for the kind of annoying part I'm going to do this I I hate doing this with the AIO and the frame but I'm using tall grommets and this aiio is sitting
[01:13:13] up I think enough off this off this part of the ducts that I'm hoping I can get it in here without melting the canopy or without melting this duct if if you melt the canopy or the duct
[01:13:26] you've ruined them so I do not recommend that you do this but let's give it a shot for the culture as strange people say we'll give it a we'll give it a try so I'm actually going to put the whole
[01:13:43] goddamn tiny whoop in the in the Omni fixo here and just kind of move it around a little bit here so let's connect this one up here multiple points of contact to hold it nice and
[01:13:59] stable all right again I don't recommend that you do it this way do as I say not as I do the the one of the main reasons I'm two main reasons I'm doing this a I'm lazy and I
[01:14:14] don't want to take all the screws out and take everything out of here but the other real reason is that every single time you remove screws you strip you're you're wearing the there's
[01:14:30] wear associated with that I use these rigs for a lot of testing and so I take these things apart over and over and over and over and over again so I have to like if I absolutely do not have to
[01:14:42] take something apart I won't because I have to retire gear sometimes that's just been taken apart too many times and that's just annoying but mainly it's
[01:14:57] laziness so what I'm doing here is I'm trying to get this Omni fixo in just the right position to hold the motor under this thing but I don't think I can quite get it so I'll try to
[01:15:11] do it by hand we'll see how this goes probably not well I can almost always get the first the first solder joint done by hand after that it's tough and I'll usually have to use tweezers but we'll
[01:15:27] see let's see what we can do here autofocus is going to be a hot mess but whatever all right so if I put this here there's a it's not going to focus for
[01:15:45] [@$#%] all right so I'm manually focusing this let's see what I can do all right so I'm holding this kind of janky but maybe we'll be all right this is
[01:16:07] tough so I'm going to go left to right so that I'm not crossing over myself with the soldering iron and all right so I'm going to feed these up from down below it is pooring
[01:16:25] out all right so here we go here's the first one it's on the pad and so these are like these little pocketed or like crenelated I think is the word pads and so all you got to do is push the wire
[01:16:38] into it and so I'm on here and there it goes and I'm pushing up on the wire to get that silicone pushed up against the PCB now I probably won't able to get the second one by hand
[01:16:57] no it ain't happening so I'm going to get tweezers and I'm going to come in here and all right so I'm just gonna grab this actually going to put the tweezers through the battery
[01:17:17] Bay I would not be able to do this without the magnification of the of the nerd goggles all right I should have probably stripped a little bit more off these wires but [@$#%]
[01:17:36] it I ain't going back let's just give it a try see what we can do so I'm on the wire once the wire once the solder on The Wire melts it'll then flow to the pad but what you can do is hit the pad to heat
[01:17:52] it up like I just did there to get some heat into it and then come up onto the wire it's a little bit harder to do but sometimes it works the problem here is I can't see what's
[01:18:09] happening all right so now I can so let me come back up here come on The Wire see so that I had put a bunch of heat into the pad and it just made that kind of possible the only problem is the wire is
[01:18:25] going in the wrong direction now I need to do this again and I need to push the wire forward out towards where it's going on the motor and see now how it popped off this is one of the many reasons that
[01:18:37] you don't want to do it like this let me try to create an angle there we go that'll work that'll work cool last one do as I say remember do as I say not as I do this is not the best way of
[01:18:50] doing this but I need to make this little angle in The Wire so I'm going to push the wire back there we go because you want the wire traveling towards where the motor is going to be
[01:19:00] bolted down this one will be nice we go the whole thing goes liquid and then get the hell off of there and hold it as still as you can when it's cooling and that's pretty
[01:19:15] good let me take a quick look that ain't bad at all the the silicone is right up against the aiio which is going to be nice and strong let me
[01:19:27] lock the focus here so the pads are nice and smooth they're not like perfect little balls but that's because I'm doing this with it all put together when I did this work with it all outside of the
[01:19:45] frame I was able to get them absolutely perfect which is better looking and marginally stronger but realistically as long as you have the silicone up against the AO and as long
[01:20:01] as the solder joints are nice and smooth like they are here and nice and round it's fine that left one that left one is no good I need to redo that left one I'm not going to
[01:20:15] refocus this camera I'm just going to do it real quick that left one the the wire is not sitting all the way in the little pocket and so I'm just going to rework it and I'm doing that right now hold
[01:20:38] on tip of the cering iron is now disgustingly dirty it is oxidized that whole time so we're going to clean it real quick and then I'm just going to quickly come back in here and redo that
[01:20:50] one I'm actually going to use the tweezers to just grab that wire I shouldn't have done that one by hand I should have used the tweezers on all three of them the difference in the quality work between
[01:21:04] these three is staggering sometimes it helps to do the first one by hand so that like the motor will hang but only if like you can get your hand in a in a good position where
[01:21:24] you're not all janky which is kind of where I was at I was a little janky with it so let's just come in here grab this just going to pick up a little bit of solder and much better
[01:21:58] there it is and it looks like I managed to not melt the canopy or the frame anywhere which is awesome turn off the soldering iron and we are done soldiering for the night I
[01:22:16] think now we just bolt this motor back down and this ult UL imate mobula 6 2024 is ready to be smashed into the walls and eventually broken again and so now I've got a little bit of extra
[01:22:34] length on this motor and it shouldn't rip those wires off again and it's got cool red motor wire all right we got one two three whenever you install Motors on newbie drone cockroach V3 or light AF
[01:23:06] frames always make sure that you don't overtighten the screws and when you're done bolting the motor down try to spin the motor in this case the motor is all bound up it will not
[01:23:19] spin the the with HappyModel Motors the holes in these cockroach frames are a little bit too a little bit too small and if you look at them with magnification you'll see it in this
[01:23:39] case there's a big weird bit of plastic just pushing up against the C clip that's odd it looks like when I drilled these out I didn't clean it up let me do that
[01:23:56] now come in here and grab this plastic get it the hell out of there hold on there we go get out of there the other thing that happens is each time you screw these motors down
[01:24:19] especially if you overtighten them you squish the plastic inwards towards the C clip and so the more times you take Motors off and on the worst that sort of gets again
[01:24:34] try not to take these things apart if you don't absolutely have to there's all kinds of [@$#%] that wears on these because everything is so small trying to get this there's just
[01:24:46] this like little strip of plastic from when I drilled it out that's just getting all up in there get out of there the hell get it all right there we go there we go this is way too small for me to
[01:25:09] show you this will not show up on that camera there it is two little strips of plastic that were just kind of getting in there and if if you then are now thinking to yourself well how the hell
[01:25:26] do I know how tight is too tight on the motor you've got three other Motors that you can spin to compare so if you spin all all four Motors and one of them feels it's a little bit tighter
[01:25:38] than the others don't ignore that oh that's not that's still not good that's still bound up what the hell's going on on sometimes like pull up and push down on the motor
[01:26:09] Bell sometimes they can just get kind of angry on their own there we go that's exactly what was going on it was just I don't know there might still be a little bit of plastic in there
[01:26:26] pushing up against the C clip let me get in there with these thin tipped tweezers and just clear it out this is a thing because newbie drone pretty much everybody other than
[01:26:38] HappyModel use really low profile c clips what sucks about that is if you ever want to take the Bell off of those Motors it is so hard to get at those SE Clips I actually really prefer these
[01:26:57] HappyModel Motors newbie drone knows about the problem now and the next tiny whoop frame that they do will not have this issue I actually need to pull this motor off and
[01:27:10] redrill this hole it's a little bit of a mess I didn't I did not do the best job of drilling out this this Frame here so let me just pop these screws
[01:27:28] out with these newbie drone frames it's very important to use the screws that they give you their little motor pads here are very very thin this is a 964 drill bit you're going to put it in
[01:27:44] there and then you're going to angle it the key is to angle it like this 360° that's what gets the excess little bits of plastic this is taking off shitloads of plastic this is I
[01:27:58] probably drilled this Frame out before I realized how much I needed to angle this thing like this to clear extra plastic out when you do this you're pretty much good to go although you do just want to
[01:28:10] look at it and make sure there's not little little tiny bits of plastic any little stupid bit of plastic will keep these motors from spinning totally freely which is an
[01:28:22] issue much better take your magnification take one more look at this point you can kind of come in with your once the motor is off you can sort of come in with your
[01:28:36] fingernail and just scrape away at the little plastic bits you just want to pull them away to make sure they're not pointing in towards the hole do the bottom and do the
[01:28:45] top in this case we're good I got one little tiny bit of plastic here I just want to grab with the tweezers not the tweezers with the pliers there we
[01:29:04] go much better much much much better now we're clear I should probably do all four on this but I think it was flying all right before and this one will be totally free now so I'll spin the other Motors and
[01:29:24] compare them to this one and I should be able to tell if there's any weirdness there we go all right screws are back in in the chat Scott stepen says does it matter which wire from the motor goes to which
[01:29:49] pad kind of but not really I run them like left to left middle to Middle right to right and then I just go into BetaFlight and get the motors spinning the right direction in the motors tab or
[01:30:05] if the motor tab isn't working I do it in blue J if you don't want to do that you can reverse any two of the wires and that will change the directionality that the motor spins
[01:30:22] and so it kind of depends do you want to do it manually with the wires or do you want to do it through the software if you want to be completely pedantic doing it manually with the wires is a better
[01:30:39] idea because then it's never wrong like at some point if you like at some point if if it's if like you reinstall system if you reinstall firmware
[01:30:54] or you screw something up in blue J it could change that and then you go out to fly and the motors aren't spitting the right direction and you got to go home but I mean realistically every
[01:31:09] single time you do anything with motors go into BetaFlight and spin the motors up and make sure they're spinning the right direction if you don't do that that's on
[01:31:17] you so that's the easiest way to kind of prevent that I'm just taking a super quick look in here to make sure there's no little plastic bits now we
[01:31:36] good again this is only an issue if you're using HappyModel Motors so now we spin this motor and then we spin these other ones and we just kind of compare and make
[01:31:51] sure that one of them doesn't feel like it has more resistance than the other and I think we're okay I need another propeller for this one though me get that real
[01:32:04] quick we back up Co power says don't home what don't home the prom near the part when you're not trying to apply heat what the hell does that mean you'd be surprised how easy it is to soften
[01:32:22] plastic with iron proximity Co power says if you solder the middle wire first you don't have to fight the outer wires to get to the middle what's that
[01:32:38] mean I've played around with soldering right to left left to right middle out I prefer going left to right so that I'm not crossing over myself but nobody I'm not
[01:32:53] the Arbiter of all things soldering like I If if it's easier for any of you guys to do it in a different order just think about it right like don't don't just mindlessly do it just like try it
[01:33:03] different ways and whatever is most comfortable for you go for it Brandon wi Bean says castellated that's it castellated I always forget Islander FPV says what a strip of
[01:33:19] aluminum F foil over the duct help protect from a bump with the side ing IR probably that's a really good idea willly Summit says back screws a little pry board up a bit that's
[01:33:32] one thing that you can do but the whole point of doing it while it's together like this is that I'm not remove I'm not backing out any of the screws I got lucky because there are
[01:33:44] grommets on this that are a little bit taller and this AIO sits a little bit High like I said I I wouldn't normally I definitely don't recommend anybody do that with it still in the
[01:33:56] frame it's just most people aren't going to be doing that many repairs that it makes that much of a difference so there we go spin this one notice
[01:34:10] how easy it spins go to this one go to this one this one actually feels a little bit tight I was thinking that a minute ago that one feels nice and free that's nice and free that's free
[01:34:25] this one's a little bit tight let's take a look with a little 5x Loop you can usually see it you can usually see the plastic pushing in and
[01:34:37] rubbing on the C clip I think it's like right there see if I can just dig in there and push the plastic away a little bit oh that might have done it get up top here and do the same
[01:35:08] thing now I got to redrill that that one's definitely rubbing a little bit that really matters man these little tiny Motors make like no power so anything rubbing against them
[01:35:24] will really affect it quite a bit so it's something you do it is it is like the only bad part about the the the Cockroach V3 and light AF frames all right so I really like to
[01:35:42] pull these screws out before I do it because I don't want to mangle the threads going in there with a big boy drill bit all right so and now like watch how much
[01:35:58] plastic this will remove this is relatively clean this is going to I mean I can feel it removing the plastic but hopefully you guys can kind of see the plastic chunks coming off of here I'll
[01:36:09] try to hold the drill bit up to the camera it won't focus but this drill bit wasn't totally clean but it was relatively clean because I smacked it on the on a box here and now look at all the plastic
[01:36:24] that's on there it won't focus whatever just take my word for it so that removed a bunch there's even a bunch of plastic here on the table so now again we take a close look ah much
[01:36:40] better much much much better that'll be fine now pick up the screws I like to put the screws in first here they they don't fall out which is pretty nice this screwdriver has become magnetic
[01:36:58] over years of use which is actually kind of nice because pick the screws up drop it in there this is a weha screwdriver this is the weha 261 it is just goddamn perfect for
[01:37:13] this kind of work it's also got a thin hard plastic body here and so it's hard like you can totally overtighten but it's since it's not wider you don't have a lot of torque on it so
[01:37:27] it's will literally keep you from overtightening stuff much better than a bigger screwdriver you can usually get a set of weha little Precision screwdrivers with this one in there for
[01:37:45] like 20 25 bucks it's well worth it these are I've been using weha drivers for like God 20 plus years I discovered him back in my airsoft days building and
[01:38:00] upgrading Airsoft guns in the 1900s they're just so nice I have some weha drivers that I've been using for over 20 years and they're still completely fine I've had to replace like one hex
[01:38:19] driver that just oh that's so much better my my m1.5 hex driver eventually rounded out now this one feels a little bit tight it's funny like when you loosen individual ones up when when you free
[01:38:36] individual ones up all of a sudden you'll spin another one and be like I don't know about this this one looks much better though I think I can just dig
[01:38:49] the the little tweezers down in there the problem is every time you take a motor off and on it squishes the plastic in because the motor base is so thin but the motor base being thin is
[01:39:03] why they can use such short screws and that's one of the ways that they save weight with these frames and so it's totally worth it the this is the light AF frame which
[01:39:15] is way worse the V3 frame is not nearly this bad the light AF frame is is is is kind of nasty but if you drill it out properly on the first go when you first get it you don't have
[01:39:37] to deal with this and now that I've told you the the trick you won't make the same mistakes as I have so there was just a little chunk of plastic that
[01:39:58] was pushing in on the C clip and now I've got it up and out there we go that should be better let's check it yep good to go ultimate mobu 6 2024 all set that took a lot longer than I thought
[01:40:30] Jesus Christ Cole power says shrimp wrap on the motor probably helps prevent metal fatigue caused by vibrations good call good call those little wires are jiggling all over
[01:40:43] the damn place thrash FPV says had a blob of solder fall into my foot while I was soldering today [@$#%] sucks I've had that happen with TPU it is way worse what to repair TPU you can just
[01:40:58] use a lighter and so if you've got like a TPU GoPro Mount that breaks you can hold a lighter under it and it'll melt the TPU together and if you hold the hold the lighter on there for long
[01:41:11] enough you can get a blob a TPU that falls onto your foot and then when you go to wipe it off you smear it and it like takes a couple layers of skin with it Ry bre says is a good story behind
[01:41:24] the this is a working rig plaque I've always seen it but I'm just now wondering it's just FPV man that's FPV you you you fly a rig and then you stop Flying it and then you come
[01:41:38] back and you go to fly it again and it doesn't fly anymore and you say what the [@$#%] this is a working rig and it's has happened a whole bunch of times on this on this live stream and Timmons was
[01:41:52] cool enough enough to make that little plaque and it shall live there forever it's one of my favorite things it's just it's just unbelievable they they're just these things in FPV
[01:42:06] that make absolutely no sense and that's one of them let's fly this little [@$#%] bird around what do you say I need a little break oh it's 11:42 good God I guess that's all we're doing on
[01:42:18] this live stream holy hell I can maybe swap the camera over real quick but I said I was going to fly let's fly if you haven't flown your six batteries yet today what the hell are
[01:42:28] you doing it's late do it now Islander FPV says what size was that drill bit 964 964 I'm going to fly a little 260 MH battery this thing is really light I think it's a 17 point something
[01:42:49] grammar let's see so this is a mobula 6 2024 version one frame swap over to the light AF motor swap onto the Weeble 0702 4000s I've swapped the Bells on those Motors over to the 1 half mm motor shaft
[01:43:08] Bells old school mobule 6 canopy runcam nano3 and no antenna let me fix the no antenna situation sitation man I really want to put a white antenna on here but I don't have any
[01:43:28] extras so I will slum it with a black antenna oh man I'm gonna have to put the [@$#%] nerd goggles on to do this with the antenna just janky sitting on there antenna's plugged
[01:43:56] in with without pulling them apart so just hold on I've gotten pretty good at it over the years though so let's see oh my god get in there you me straighten this
[01:44:18] out okay and 10 through the top hole here get in there there we go all right down and oh God come on get get over there get over there yep that's it there's the UFL you get on
[01:44:48] there get on the UFL you little jackass oh my God okay yep yep there it is okay go yep yep yep there it is and where's that snap okay it's good I think let's check
[01:45:14] it nope it's almost down but not quite oh I see what's going on I have a little piece of shrimp wrap on the on the edge of the UFL and that is preventing the UFL from snapping
[01:45:38] all the way down that's kind of annoying should be fine but hold on I'm coming back don't you worry now I got to take this shrimp wrap off of here
[01:45:57] hold on God damn it why don't I have a white or left I sold them all I sold them all damn it how do I not have a single white one floating around over there any of you little guys
[01:46:18] have white ons no no great this will be fine it's fine I got to cut this off though I got to cut this little piece of shrimp wrap off here I like to do this it's does make
[01:46:40] the the UFL a little stronger but in this on this board right behind the right behind the UFL Port there's a chip and this is just too thick it's a problem that I have all the
[01:47:02] time man it's brutal it's tough being me okay that'll be better one more time good Lord okay fish through there get this out of here my God come on come on come on come
[01:47:35] on wow there's Thunder and [@$#%] outside now what the hell that's actually making it a lot easier to get this in there okay one more second guys sorry I don't know what the I think I
[01:47:55] actually I might have pulled the antenna off of this thing cuz it was broken I so I I got my stock I got the number of the ort micro antennas that I had on the Etsy store
[01:48:10] wrong and they didn't go out of stock early enough so I was pulling antennas that were still like fresh off of rigs to ship them out to people and I believe believe this is one of the white
[01:48:27] ones which would also explain why I don't have a single extra white micro floating around to put in here God damn it this is so hard to do get out of the way wires
[01:48:53] God damn it come on it's like super sketchy to do this too because I'm in there with metal tweezers just pushing like relatively hard to try to get that snapped down there we go all right
[01:49:18] that's good done cool sorry about that fellas okay good to go now we fly says what do you do to keep the camera plug from hard mounting the AIO to the frame 2g4 on a cockroach I
[01:49:51] just ignore it and it's magically fine it for whatever reason it doesn't oops I hit all the wrong buttons I got to unplug and replug the vrx it's it's
[01:50:10] fine I have and I've tested it I've direct soldered to the pads before which which fixes there was a point where I thought that was an issue and with with one of my
[01:50:25] builds and yeah I took that plug out of there and direct soldered it and it didn't change anything so it shouldn't be a problem if you're like at your wits end with some tuning
[01:50:38] issues I mean you could direct side of the camera but I've I've got so many rigs with that setup and they I'm able to get them tuned completely fine and so it shouldn't be
[01:50:53] be the issue all right my elrs antenna is sticking out a little bit here let me just stuff it back in there come on get in there you little jerk all
[01:51:18] right now we should be all right are slowly falling off my head here we go 40,000 KV 17 G rig wow after flying that 04 rig I will never take latency for granted again also the I'm having a hard
[01:51:42] time right now adjusting to the low ass hover point I got used to that 40 some per hover point my God this feels so nice stop it stop it oh my God this is hold on give me a
[01:52:05] minute this like couldn't be any more different woo what you doing over there Teddy spaghetti investigating the party light oh stop it okay let's do some flying I think Maggie
[01:52:34] left the lights on upstairs for me she did wow I this feels super weird after 12 batteries on that heavy ass 2S 704 boy does this feel good though it's just a huge
[01:53:06] adjustment no that was I don't know why I thought I could do that that was just silly stop it let me f thank you so again this is a little 260 M battery some of these 260 M batteries
[01:53:25] have had their asses kicked and so don't expect these run times to be representative of a fresh 260 oh my God oh my God boy I'm having a hard time I'm trying to do like all the super hard
[01:53:46] stuff though all right let's get another battery here 2 minutes and seven ain't bad from a little potentially beaten to hell H 260 let's run another 260 and see if it's any better I would think that I can
[01:53:59] probably get like two at least two and a half minutes on a nonabused 260 let's see that's what we got out of this one here we go I didn't need to check motor
[01:54:23] Direction because the motor because I always go left to left middle to Middle right to right and so the motor that I took off was and the motor that I put on is as well wooo no I didn't
[01:54:39] need to disarm oh God ah I thought I could cut that really close I cut it way too close ah oh God what did I hit oh the vent this makes so much power
[01:55:18] hey oh stop give me a break that Teddy that Teddy butt is almost got a tiny whoop embedded into it twice in a row now or maybe I'll get a minute and 15 seconds from this battery so this
[01:55:50] battery is obviously not in great shape oh went through that [@$#%] diagonal I haven't done that before that's kind of cool man I just like H didn't expect
[01:56:14] that oh oh what's going through that tiny little peanut sized brain of [Laughter] his almost put it in my [@$#%] hair just now hey so this battery is sagging if I fly it really gently no I was going to say
[01:56:57] the voltage will recover well we're over 2 minutes look at that 2 minutes and 20 seconds so we got there when when batteries are getting old and the internal resistances are
[01:57:10] getting higher you'll notice that sort of behavior where you get low battery warnings like really early on but then if you just keep flying it'll just keep going and going and going but you'll
[01:57:20] you'll keep sort of getting those low batter warnings we're going to go to a 300 MH battery and get some actual runtime and full 40 40,000 KV
[01:57:38] power here we go oh God let's go right upstairs and Wang it around oh the [@$#%] power in the float uhoh hey oh god oh let me try my my favorite little move up
[01:58:11] here ah didn't quite get it right let's try it again oh okay here we go oh I hit the [@$#%] fan are you kidding me oh God I hit the ceiling this thing has so much power oh wow how did it get
[01:58:35] down there one more try one more try coming low oh my God not a great night of flying for me flip oh I keep hitting the [@$#%] fan oh no don't go in [Laughter] there oh man this battery is hammered
[01:59:15] ass some of these batteries need to get retired ah oh I don't know what I was doing there I like couldn't decide if I was going to go in the gate or not in the gate and so
[01:59:29] I just smashed into the side of it oh balls something ain't happy who's not happy and why are you not happy who's who's hitting on what what's hitting on
[01:59:50] who what are you what's What's happen happening it's this one oh it's hitting on the the battery cable the battery shifted forward a bunch and these battery leads are a
[02:00:00] little bit too long on here this thing could get even lighter if I fix the battery leads oh no no no oh you mother not a great night for me from a flying perspective
[02:00:24] what are you doing boy what are you doing buddy boy can you learn to recover this damn thing for me when when I do this can you be helpful Ted wo back up off
[02:00:50] me all right check the frame everything's fine everything's good man this is oh boy I got the the elrs antenna is in front of the lens again though for [@$#%]
[02:01:07] sake get out of the way there I run the elrs antenna up in front of the camera to try to get it like as vertical as possible and it's usually fine but sometimes they'll
[02:01:20] like they they keep wanting to like go out in front of the camera it's I it's hard to describe this thing is also gone into like mega uptilt mode which never helps me let me tighten up this
[02:01:36] oh that was super loose there okay now this is going to be better nice low up tilt much better although I think this battery is about done oh that feels so much better I can
[02:01:53] always tell when there's too much uptilt on these mobula 6 canopies when the when there's no ducts in view this is actually ultra low up tilt right now but I'd rather have too little than
[02:02:13] too much buddy boy ah I knew I was asking too much low up tilt is so nice man you can actually like fly around slowly H having having a bunch of uptilt like it just naturally makes you fly really really
